Mrs. Nancy Caryl Beard "Maw", passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023 in the Hospice of West Alabama healthcare facility in Tuscaloosa. Ms. Beard was born on December 13, 1947 in Winfield, AL to Wheeler and Gertie Lee Weeks Bowling. Ms. Beard was a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church for many years. She attended Winfield City High School and Northwest Alabama Community College in Hamilton where she earned her degree as LPN. She was employed with Diversicare of Winfield for many years, and later with Sunset Manor Health Care Center in Guin until her retirement. Nancy was a loving and caring lady, she always enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, and her fur babies.
She is survived by her children, Bobby Beard (Amanda) and Beth Smith (Randy), grandchildren, Brandi Faucett (Johnny), Madison Hubbert (Lance), Dakota Smith (Jordan), Chelsea Porter, Brodie Porter and Brady Porter, great grandchildren, Makenzie Nix, Braxton Faucett, Bradley Faucett, Aubree Hubbert, Zach Hubbert, Anna Hubbert, Carragen Smith, and Carmen Smith, sister-in-law, Eleanor Bowling, her fur babies, Gus and Peanut and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Kenneth Wayne Beard and brother, Jeryl Bowling.
Funeral services for Ms. Beard will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Jesse Floyd McGaha, age 89, of Winfield passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 in the Sunset Manor Nursing Facility. Mr. McGaha was born on April 2, 1934 in Kansas, AL to Columbus Alvin Sr. and Edith Latham McGaha. Jesse was a member of the Winfield First Baptist Church and a graduate of Martin High School in Walker County. Jesse attended Florence State Teachers College where he earned his degree in education. He served his country in the United States Army and taught school for a short period of time before becoming a State Trooper. In 1965 Jesse joined the United States Secret Service, he retired in 1994 after 29 years of service. Jesse had many hobbies during his spare time after his retirement, he enjoyed sailing, riding motorcycles, fishing, and golfing. He served on the board of Pikeville Country Club as president for a short time. Altogether his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and his family.
Mr. McGaha is survived by his wife, Mary Angeline McGaha, sons, Russell McGaha and Brad McGaha (Leigh), grandchildren, Grace and Michael McGaha, stepchildren, Melissa Beard (Bob), Russ Carothers (Stephanie), and Chris Carothers (Brandi), step grandchildren, Spencer Beard (Alyssa), Nicholas Carothers (Karly), Elizabeth Elliott (Davis), Will Carothers, Mary Kate Beard, John Carothers, Allie Carothers, and Caroline Carothers, step great-grandchildren, Danielle and Aiden Flynn, Thea and River Beard, and Brooks Elliott, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Mr. McGaha was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Richards McGaha, his parents, and his siblings, Jody McGaha, Kelly McGaha, Columbus Alvin McGaha Jr., Francis Dye, George McGaha, Ray McGaha, and Patricia McGaha.
Funeral services for Mr. McGaha will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. form the Winfield First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. service time at the church. Dr. Paul Murphy will be the officiating minister. Serving as pallbearers will be Spencer Beard, Nicholas Carothers, Will Carothers, John Carothers, Michael McGaha, and Davis Elliott.
