Mrs. Bonnie Lou Ganey, age 84, of Winfield, Alabama, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. She was born on December 8, 1940, in Winfield to James E. and Mary Erdeal Vickery Bryant. Bonnie was a longtime member of Rock City Church of God. In her earlier years, she worked as a seamstress in several area garment plants before fulfilling a lifelong dream by opening her own flower shop, Bonnie’s Flowers. She operated the shop for nearly 20 years before retiring. In Bonnie’s younger days, she enjoyed water skiing and riding on the back of her son’s motorcycle, always eager for adventure. As the years passed, she devoted her time to cross-stitching, knitting, and quilting, for her loved ones. She was also known for making what many insisted was the world’s best banana pudding, a beloved treat her family always enjoyed.

She is survived by her son, Tim Ganey (Shirl), grandchildren, Zak Ganey (Amber), Tamra Badgett (Ross), Jessica Boozer (Steven), and Angela Reeder (Dennis), great-grandchildren, Ruger, Maggie, Jonah, Gane, and Charlie, special nephews she lovingly raised as her own, Adam Green (Brandy), Ashley Green, and Neil Buck, daughter-in-law, Joyce Ganey, and a host of other family members and friends.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Ganey, her son, Pete Ganey, her parents, James E. and Mary Erdeal Bryant, and her sisters, Mary Joe Dwyer, Pat Buck, and Jackie Bryant.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ganey will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in the Union Chapel Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Retired MSGT Randall Ottis Bonds, better known as Randy, age 64 of Winfield, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025 at his residence. Randy was born in Panama City, FL at Tyndall Air Force Base on November 11, 1961 to Sherman Ottis and Millie Grace Bonds and was a 1979 graduate of Winfield City High School. After graduation, he started his career as an LPN at Carraway Hospital in Winfield. He then joined the United States Air Force and served his country for 20 years and retired as Master Sergeant. While serving in the Air Force Randy was stationed in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm / Desert Shield. After retirement, he returned home to Winfield and worked as an LPN at Fayette Medical Center for seven years. Randy was a very talented pianist and singer and was always the life of the party, with his smile and laugh he would light up the darkest room and never met a stranger.
Randy is survived, by his wife of nearly 40 years, Jessica Reese Bonds, his three daughters, Scarlett Bonds, Rose Oden and her husband Ryan, and Gracie Lucas and her husband Daniel, his three grandsons, Leo and Kap Oden and Greysen Lucas, aunts, Linda Birmingham of Winfield and Sue Parker (Gerald) of Reform and a host of other relatives and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Caleb Randall Bonds, his parents, grandparents, Milton and Ethel Garrison and his special uncle, Ed Birmingham.
Funeral services for Randy will be held on Thursday, December 4th at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Sand Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Freddie Langston Meherg age 85 of Winfield, Alabama passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Rose Manor in Haleyville, Alabama. Freddie was born on July 27, 1940 to Roy and Mary Langston. She is survived by her children, Tim Meherg (Peggy); Lisa Burgess (Wade); Lori Jenkins (Mike); Grandchildren, Erica Michel (Anthony); Mason Meherg (Hope); McKinly Meherg (Jana); Mary Melton (Hunter); Kent Jenkins (Kourtney); Luke Jenkins; Major Meherg; 9 great grandchildren; and sisters Linda West and Martha Allen (John). She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jim, a precious, gentle soul, whom she was married to for 55 years. She cherished her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She took great pride in her grandchildren and found immeasurable joy in their presence. She possessed a determined spirit and a steadfast independence that guided her throughout her life.

She loved singing, planting and growing her own flowers, and had the only green thumb in the family. She was known for her famous dill pickles which the grandchildren devoured by the quarts on summer spend the night gatherings.

Her greatest passion was teaching high school and college English which she did for over 20 years. She touched the lives of countless students whom she spoke fondly of for many years.

One of her greatest loves was reading, as she was an avid reader of every genre, especially biographies and those of historical value.

She was a devout Christian and loved her church and choir, singing countless hymns for her church family for many years. She and her family attended Winfield First United Methodist Church, and in later years Harmony Grove Baptist Church.

She loved telling stories of her treasured times with her family, in particular her Wayside cousins, and remained close with many of them throughout the years. She also treasured her sisters, nieces, and nephews.

She had a love for traveling and enjoyed many adventures with her husband in retirement.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a local library, Old Union Cemetery, or Winfield Alumni Association. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Tenna Hill Sprinkle, age 69, of the Hubbertville community, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, at UAB Medical Center. Born January 16, 1956, in Corbin, Kentucky, Tenna spent her childhood in Vero Beach, Florida, where she graduated from Vero Beach High School. Through mutual family members who served in the military, she was introduced to the love of her life, David Sprinkle. The two later married and moved to the Hubbertville community. In Hubbertville, Tenna worked in the mobile home industry and later as a seamstress in local garment plants. After retiring, she and David proudly owned and operated the Glen Allen Antique Store. Tenna found joy in the simple, meaningful things in life such as fishing, crocheting beautiful pieces, painting, and spending treasured time with her family. She was a longtime and beloved member of Berea Church of Christ.

Tenna is survived by her loving husband, David Sprinkle; her daughter, Christie Nix; her grandsons, Tyde and Draper Nix; her sister, Marlene Robbins (Rob); her brother-in-law, Johnny Sprinkle; her sister-in-law, Helen Botelho (Bo); her special friend, neighbor, and family member, Patricia Sprinkle; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Lou Ellison, and her siblings, Rosa Mae Hedrick, Edith Hickey, James Onzie Hill, Joan Wilson, Jeanette Ellison, and Brenda Elso.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sprinkle will be held on Saturday, December 6, at 2:00 p.m. from the Berea Church of Christ, with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., service time at the church.
