Mrs. Linda Ilene Gray, age 79, of Winfield passed away at her residence on Monday, April 14, 2025. Linda was born on November 15, 1945, in Clanton, Alabama to the late Howard and Vera Rushing Traywick. A 1963 graduate of Verbena High School she married the love of her life Bro. Paul Gray the same year. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised 3 sons. A devoted homemaker, Linda dedicated her life to caring for her family. She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, she loved planting flowers, fishing alongside her husband, and watching butterflies. Linda was a former member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where her husband faithfully served as pastor.

Linda is survived by her husband, Paul Gray, her sons, Tony Gray, Tim Gray (Michele), and Todd Gray (Holly), grandchildren, Nathan Gray (Allison), Lauren Gray, Tyler Gray (Jordi), and Gracie Mae Gray, great grandchildren, Brooks and Baylor Gray, her brother, Thomas Traywick, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Earl Traywick.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gray will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 12:00 noon from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Joseph Randy Earnest, age 69, of Winfield passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Mr. Earnest was born April 7, 1956 to Joe Edd and Sarah Warren Earnest. Randy was raised in Winfield, graduating from Winfield City High School in 1974. While at WCHS, he was a proud member of the Pirate Marching Band, where he played the trumpet. Following high school, he attended Northwest Community College and earned his degree as an LPN. Randy served as a nurse for 42 years, touching many lives through his work in the operating room, emergency room, hospital floor, and specialty clinic in Winfield. In addition to his work in nursing, Randy also served his community as a paramedic and a police officer for the City of Winfield. Randy was a devoted member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. He also served on the Winfield Park and Rec board for 30 years, where he coached and umpired softball, and officiated football and volleyball. His deep commitment to local sports was honored in 2020 when he received the Chester Freeman Award as recognition for his dedication to the park program. He was further honored in 2023 when a field was dedicated in his name. Randy enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and spending time in the mountains. He found great joy in coaching and umpiring youth sports and cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Randy is survived by his wife of 25 years, Deborah Earnest, his children, Ashley Earnest and Patrick Earnest (Jeanette), stepsons, Eddie Corkren and Chad Corkren (Kilia), his grandchildren, Tyson, Jalen, and Zena Earnest, and Mallory and Connor Corkren, his sister, Kaye Carr (Steve), mother-in-law, Joyce Humbers, nephew, Joseph Carr, niece, Hollie Jo Carr, and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

The family of Joseph Randy Earnest would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Debra Perry for her selfless act of kindness in donating a kidney to Randy in 2011. This extraordinary gift of life gave their family 13 additional precious years with him. Words cannot express their appreciation for her generosity.

Funeral services for Randy will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Joseph Edward Morris, age 65, of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 in the UAB Medical Center in Birmingham. Mr. Morris was born in Chester, Pennsylvania on December 7, 1959 to Nelson Morris and Anna Cecelia Jarek Thompson. He was an active member of Abundant Life Church in Gu-win. Joe served with honor in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years, attaining the rank of Lance Corporal. He then continued his service in the Army for 13 years as a Staff Sargeant, where he was a combat medic and ammunition transporter during military operations, including Operation Urgent Fury during Grenada, Desert Storm, and in Iraq. He was a proud member of both branches and earned numerous medals and commendations for his service and leadership. In his free time, Joe enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, and playing pool. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Marcella Morris, his sons, Jason Morris (Meme), Justin Morris (Ashley), and Peter Pearlstein (Amanda), his granddaughter, Emily Morris, siblings, Margie Pierce (Joe), Christine Collins, and Robert Thompson (Becky), sister-in-law, Kathy Morris, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson Morris and Ann Cecelia Thompson, his stepfather, Leon Thompson Sr. and brothers, Leon Thompson Jr., and Billy Morris.

Funeral services for Mr. Morris will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. The visitation will be held on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Arnold Grey Norris, age 81, of Wayside passed away on Wednesday evening April 2, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Norris was one of 5 children born to Grant and Eloise McDonald Norris on August 25, 1943. Arnold was a longtime member of Winfield First Baptist Church. He was a 1963 graduate of Winfield City High School and a Marion County Sports Hall of Fame inductee for his time spent on the Pirate Football team which he enjoyed sharing stories about with friends and family. Arnold was employed with Alabama Power as a lead lineman for 36 years until his retirement. After his retirement Arnold worked on the family farm alongside his brothers. Arnold loved his community and was a founding member of the Kirkland/Bluff/Wayside Volunteer Fire Department where he served for 30 years. He enjoyed spending his spare time watching Alabama Football and westerns, listening to gospel music, fishing, doing yardwork, socializing and playing with his grandchildren.

Mr. Norris leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 62 years, Sheila Mays Norris, his children, Cynthia Norris Leathers (Wade), Jill Norris Peterson (David), and Steven Norris (Melanie), his favorite granddaughter, Abigail Leathers, his grandsons, Anthony Leathers (Hanna), Seth Peterson, Caleb Norris, and Cole Norris, his great grandson, William Greyson Leathers (better known as Grey after his pawpaw), brothers, Buddy Norris (Wynell) and David Norris (Lana), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grant and Elouise Norris, a sister, Melinda Jane Norris, an infant brother, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Funeral services for Mr. Norris will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. from the Winfield First Baptist Church The visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. util 2:30 p.m. service time at the church with burial to follow in the McDonald Family Cemetery.
