Mr. Larry Wayne Cox, age 73 passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at his residence. Larry was the youngest of 11 children. He was born in Eldridge, Alabama on January 20, 1952 to Dewey and Mary Ellin Evans Cox. Larry was a hard-working and caring man. He enjoyed rebuilding motors and restoring old cars of all types. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed playing cards, deer hunting and watching Alabama Football.
Larry is survived by his children, Eddie Cox and Kim Colburn (Darryl) of Hackleburg, 5 grand children and 4 great grandchildren, a brother, Charles Cox (Geneva) of Adamsville, sisters, Emogene Hunsinger of Birmingham, Margaret McKinney of MI, Lynda Barber of Haleyville and Martha L. Miles (Jimmy Dale) of Winfield, his fur baby King, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He was preceded by his parents, brothers, Junior, Billy and O’Neal Cox, sisters, Mary Lou Burnett and Willma Fay Cox, brothers-in-law, Henry Cantrell, Dave McKinney and Ralph Burnett.
Funeral services for Larry will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Don Robin Pollard, better known as Dan, age 83 of Brilliant passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 in the Princeton Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Pollard was born in Brilliant, Alabama on November 10, 1941 to Dell and Ora Brasseal Pollard. Dan attended Brilliant Church of God. He was a graduate of Brilliant High School and served in the United States National Guard for 6 years. Dan was employed as a diesel mechanic with Haley Bros. Mining Company for 55 years before his retirement. He enjoyed spending his free time working on race cars, doing yard work, and going to Walmart on Saturday mornings with his brothers.
Dan is survived by his brother, Tony Pollard, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Pollard, his parents, and brothers, Jerry Pollard and his wife Melba, Jack Pollard and his wife Grace, Jimmy Pollard, Tommy Pollard, and Joe Pollard and his wife Deborah.
Funeral service for Mr. Pollard will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ida Ann Keeton Skelton, age 84, of Winfield passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025 in the Marion Regional Nursing Facility in Hamilton. Mrs. Skelton was one of 14 children born to James Willie and Martha Ann Myers Keeton on August 2, 1940 in Carbon Hill, Alabama. She was employed as a tool room attendant with NTN Bower Corporation for 24 years before her retirement. Ida served for more than 30 years with the Winfield Chapter # 208 Order of the Eastern Star. In her spare time Ida enjoyed dancing, shopping, traveling, and spending time with her sons and grandchildren.
Mrs. Skelton is survived by her sons, Ronny Vickery (Marlene) and Joel Vickery (Teena), grandchildren, Terry Vickery (Heather), Meleea Bowling (Tj), Shayna Wasden (Marcus), D.J. Vickery (Stefanie), Holly Myrick (Jason), and Chad Cooper (Holly), great grandchildren, Briana Vickery; Levi and Mackenna Nichols; Jaxson Myrick; Ava and Luke Cooper; Brycen, Keaton, Lincoln, and Everleigh Wasden; and Barrett, Bennett, and Delaney Vickery, her sister, Nellie Dickinson, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Mrs. Skelton was preceded in death by her parents, and 13 siblings.
Ida’s family will receive friends for a time of remembrance on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Dortha Jean Miles, better known as “Dot”, age 96 of Winfield passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her family. Mrs. Miles was born in Rock City, Alabama on October 25, 1928 to John Thomas and Hattie Lou Ingle Weeks. She was a charter member of Faith Church and a 1946 graduate of Winfield High School. Dot worked for a number of businesses throughout the years but was best remembered as owner and operator of The Carriage House of Winfield where she spent more than 30 years before her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, cooking, quilting, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Miles is survived by her children, Kayron Silas (Rebel), Gregg Miles (Terri), and Scott Miles (Cindy), grandchildren, Heather Silas, Chanda Bartlett (Joel), Jessica Miles, Adam Miles (Mallory), Landon Miles (Megan), Jared Miles (Hillary), Alyssa Webb (David), and Caleb Miles (Victoria), great grandchildren, Katelyn and Nate Royle, Ella Rose, Leida Kay, Izzy Mae, and Silas Wayne Bartlett, Taylor and Tristen Wallace, Rigsby Cook, Carter, Asher, Harper, Emmy, Weston, Mary Elle, Madeline, and William Miles, Sadie Ann and Shepherd Webb, and Cooper, Ella and Maverick Miles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Miles was preceded in death by her husband, Olen Miles, her son, Terry Miles, granddaughter, Danielle Miles, infant great grandson, Skylar Wallace, and 11 siblings.
Funeral services for Mrs. Miles will be held on Thursday January 30, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from Faith Church with burial to follow in the Northwest Alabama Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the church.
