Mrs. Elizabeth Registos Solomon better known as Liza, age 57, of Winfield, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2025, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Liza was born on January 3, 1968, in Bansalan, Davao del Sur, Philippines. She was a woman of deep faith, unwavering devotion to family, and quiet strength. A proud member of the Filipino American community, Liza was known for her warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 20 years, Wylie Rogers “Roger” Solomon, her devoted mother, Ester Echavia Registos, of Davao del Sur, Philippines her cherished stepchildren, Tammy Solomon Layton of Gulfport, Mississippi, Cindy Solomon Foster (Chris) of Alabaster, and Shane Solomon (Kristin) of Birmingham, step-grandchildren, Amber Self (Jerry), Dillon Layton (Leah), Blake Huynh (Aubrey), Courtney Canada (PJ), Bennett Solomon, Noah Solomon, Sam Solomon, and Wylie Solomon, as well as many great-grandchildren, her siblings, Lilia Aguirre, Marivia Andes, Nildo, Merla, Roger, Edgar, Erwin, Richard, Lingster, Liezl and Allan Registos and a host of nieces and nephews in the Philippines. She held a special bond with her sister, Lingster Silva, and her niece, Alyzsa Registos, who lovingly cared for her during her illness.
She was preceded in death by her father, Aquilino Registos.
Liza formerly worked as a caregiver—a reflection of her nurturing and selfless nature. A devout Catholic, she was a beloved cantor at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Winfield, where her voice and faith touched many. She was deeply committed to her family, always putting others first. She was also an avid gardener and a loving pet owner.
Liza’s kindness and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A Funeral Mass for Liza will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. from the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Winfield with burial to follow in Winfield City Cemetery the visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. service time at the church.

Mr. Richard Andrew Couch, age 87, of Winfield, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025. He was born on November 8, 1937, in Winfield, Alabama to Preston Meredith and Della Lucille Franks Couch. Richard was a member of the Glen Allen Methodist Church and a 1956 graduate of Winfield City High School. After high school, he worked for the Highway Department for eight years before beginning a 25-year career as an Alabama State Trooper, where he served until his retirement. In his spare time, Richard liked watching Alabama football and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing,

Mr. Couch is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ann Lyons Couch, his daughters, Candy Southern (Doug) and Beth Marler (Joey), both of Tuscaloosa, Debbie Killingsworth (Glen) of Winfield, his son, Andy Couch (Jennifer) of Mountain Brook, grandchildren, Jake and Zac Spiller, Zoie Bryant, Colin and Catherine Grace Couch, and Noah and Samantha Marler, great granddaughter, Oaklee Spiller, nephew, Ronny Chaffin, brother-in-law Bobby Chaffin, aunt, Doris Franks, cousins, Martha Ann Trollinger and Alice Eddins, and a host of other family members and friends .

Mr. Couch was preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Della Couch, and his sister, Margaret Alice Chaffin.

Funeral services for Mr. Couch will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 12:00 noon with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon service time at the funeral home. Mr. Michael Allen Raburn, age 65, of Winfield passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, at his residence. He was born on August 1, 1959, in Texas to Ted and Beverly Nichols Raburn. Michael was a graduate of Winfield City High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree at Auburn University and a master’s degree from the University of Salamanca in Spain. A dedicated educator, Michael began his career teaching high school Spanish at Lassiter High School. He later became a Spanish professor at Kennesaw State University, where he taught countless students until his retirement.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Alex Raburn, his siblings, Dwayne Raburn and Cathy Raburn, his partner, Jesse Rivers and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents Ted and Beverly Raburn and sister, Lisa Raburn Chaffin.

Mrs. Elease Brazil Box, age 86, of Winfield, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, June 21, 2025 surrounded by her family. Elease was born on July 18, 1938 the daughter of Arthur Carl and Louise Mayfield Brazil. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Winfield. Elease was a talented seamstress whose skill brought joy to countless people with beautiful dresses and clothing. Her passion for traveling led her across the United States with her dear friend Brenda Sanders, and she cherished each trip, recalling every detail with fondness.

Mrs. Box is survived by her daughters, Debby Posey and Marie Gray (Walt), her sons, Heath Bowen (Jo Anne) and Lyndon Box (Lesleigh), her grandchildren, Nicolas Posey (Stacie), Kenton Bowen (Kristen), Joey Gray (Kim), William Box, Lucy Box, and Grace Box, great grandchildren, Cohen Gray, Asher Posey, Thomas Bowen, and Brian Bowen, and a host of other family members and friends.

Mrs. Box was preceded in death by her husband, Wille F. Box, her parents, Carl and Louise Brazil, brother, Rayford Brazil, and sister, Jane Evans.

Funeral services for Mrs. Box will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Winfield with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. service time at the church.
