Mrs. Bernice Huguley Austin, age 99 of Guin, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018 in the Sunset Manor Heath Care Facility in Guin.  Mrs. Austin was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Palistine Taylor Huguley, her husband, Emmitt Austin, sisters, Lexie Thompson, Myrtle Kivette, Dora Elliott, Jettie Cheek and brothers, Weldon Huguley and Readus Huguley.  She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.  Funeral services for Mrs. Austin will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday February 15, 2018 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. (service time) on Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Ruble Donald Gilley, better known as Don, age 79 of Winfield, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018 at his residence.  Don was a member of the Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church and Brilliant Masonic Lodge #601.  He was preceded in death by his parents, P.G. and Wendell Thornton Gilley, brothers, Paul, James, and George Gilley, and a son Kenny Gilley.  he is survived by his wife, Lou Stanford Gilley, a son, Donnie (Diane) Gilley of Winfield, grandchildren, Kristie (Brian) South of Winfield, Matt Gilley of Fayette, and Zach (Jessie) Gilley of Winfield, great grandchildren, Chandler Nuckols, Blake Nuckols, Madison Gilley, Presley Gilley, Tucker Gilley, Landon Gilley, Hudson South, Holden South, and Sawyer South, and 2 brothers, Larry (Barbara) Gilley of Opelika, and Terry Gilley of Winfield.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday February 11, 2018 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens.  Jeremy Harris and Greg Webb will officiate.  The visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time on Sunday at the funeral home.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Gilley family.   

Misty Lane Fowler, 44, passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, on February 1, 2018. She was born February 9, 1973, the only child of Max and Linda McCluskey.

She married her high school sweetheart, Shane Fowler, in 1991 and they moved to Tuscaloosa, AL to begin a beautiful life together. They moved to Birmingham, AL in 1993 where she started her lifelong passion of buying and selling antiques. In 1997, they moved to Destin, FL and she opened her first antique shop, Grayton Antiques, in Grayton Beach, FL. Seven years later, she opened her current shop, Antiques on Holiday, in Destin with her business partner and started her true passion of traveling and importing European antiques. Her love of the antiques business allowed her to make many friends, both here and abroad.

 

Misty will forever be remembered by her beloved husband Shane of 26 yrs and her parents Max and Linda.  She is lovingly remembered by her in-laws, Larry and Pat Fowler and Larry and Regina Eisner.

 

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 1pm followed by funeral services at 2pm at Village Baptist Church located at 101 Matthew Blvd., Destin, FL 32541 with pastor Steve Davies presiding. Brial will be in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win, AL.   In lieu of flowers, Misty requested that memorial gifts be made in her memory to Alaqua Animal Refuge at www.Alaqua.org.

Mrs. Myrtle H. Self, age 89, of Brilliant, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 in the Sunset Manor Healthcare Facility in Guin.   Mrs. Self was preceded in death by her parents, Austin Filo and S. Anna Ingle Holt, her husband, James “Bud” Self, a grandson, Joseph Self, sisters, Florette Tyler and Eula Logan, brothers, Ethan Holt and Eugene Holt and 5 infant siblings.  She is survived by her children, Karen Caudle (Ivan) of Brilliant, Ann King (Rex) of Haleyville and Anthony “Tony” Self (Felicia) of Brilliant, grandchildren, Matthew and Jonathan Caudle, Kyle Self (Carrie), Joshua King (Brittany) and Lindsay Carter (Clint), 7 great grandchildren, sisters in law, Jewel Holt, Helen Self and Virginia Mullenix, a brother in law, Jackie Self, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.  Funeral services for Mrs. Self, will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery near Brilliant.  Visitation will be Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Bro.
