Mr. Henry Hexton Lindsey, age 88, of Winfield, passed away Friday August 24, 2018, at the Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham. Henry was a graduate of Hamilton High School, the Massey Business College and Howard College, (Samford University) where he earned his degree in Pharmacy. Mr. Lindsey was a U.S. Navy Veteran, and owner-operator of Oden-Shirey Drug Co. in Winfield from November 1957 until his retirement in August 1998. Henry served on the Winfield City Council and the Winfield City High School Board of Education. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Eckford Lindsey and Lena Jane Duke Lindsey, a sister, Maxine Lindsey Gann, a brother, Jimmie F. Lindsey, and children, Jerry & Terry Lindsey and Janie Lindsey Collier. Mr. Lindsey is survived by 4 sons, Henry H. “Hank” Lindsey III (Debbie) of Pell City, Robin H. Lindsey of Winfield, Lyndal M. Lindsey “Lyn” (Courtney) of Winfield, and William H. Lindsey (Angela) of Hoover, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, a sister, Dorothy Terry of Decatur, and the mothers of his children, Rosa Lindsey and Johnnie Lindsey. Funeral services for Mr. Lindsey will be held on Sunday August 26, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery near Hamilton. The visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. (service time) on Sunday at the funeral home. Rev. Preston Hendrick and Rev. Ray Gray will be the officiating ministers. Mr. Edwin Morris Black, age 92, longtime resident of Winfield and more recently of Birmingham, died at home Monday, September 3, 2018 after a long illness. Mr. Black was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sidney Black and Velma Morrison Black. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Mary Jim Gann Black, his daughters, Miriam Black Smith of Atlanta and Jane Black Percy and her husband Alan of Birmingham, grandchildren, Anna Lane, Meredith Lane Lee and her husband Joseph, Jason Smith and Gann Smith. He loved his family above all things. Mr. Black was a United States Navy WWII Veteran, and retired from Alabama Power Company after 44 years, the last decades as Line Crew Foreman in the Western Division. He was a devoted member of the Winfield First United Methodist Church, serving as former president of the Co-Workers Sunday School Class, a role he dearly loved. The family thanks the staff of Somerby Assisted Living for their care and Mary Fulgham for her tireless devotion in the recent months. He was loved by many.
Visitation for Mr. Black will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 with funeral services to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. Private burial services will follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. Rev. Earl Freeman will be the officiating minister.

Mr. Louis Guy Estes, age 82 of Winfield, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield. Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Walter Estes and Rena Dickinson Estes, his wife, Betty Susanne Estes, sisters, Nancy Deliska Estes, Icy Banks Kilgore, Maxine Flippo, Ida Mae Kivett, Wanda Earl Harris, and Pauline Estes, and his brothers, James, Ray, R.B., Basil, and Bobby Jo Estes. He is survived by his children, Rick Dozier of Tuscaloosa, Pamela "Pam" Dozier of Winfield, Carla Hawkins (Benny) of Guin, Jeffery "Jeff" Dozier of Winfield, and Anthony (Kelli) Estes of Winfield, grandchildren, Stephanie (Roy), Brandy (Matt), Brandon (Carrie), Sloan, Mallori, Whitney, Cody, Jared, Tyler (Calina), Dawson, Hunter and Jonathan, great grandchildren, Peyson, Memory, Alissa, Quinn, Jazzalin, Carvin, Kimber, Madison, Mackenzie, Haylen, Ayden, Conner, Riley, Brooke, Ashley, Anna-Lee, Madison Rain, Riley Nichols and a host of other nieces, nephews and other realtives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow on Wednesday in the Tidwell Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery. Bro. Mrs. Desirea Guin, age 27 of Guin, passed away Thursday August 23, 2018 at her residence. She was a graduate of Hamilton High School and a member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church near Guin. Desiree was preceded in death by her father, George Stockman. She is survived by her husband, Zac Guin, her son, Luke and step-daughters, Ally and Macy Guin, her mother, Janice Holland of Hamilton, sisters, Mandy Holland of Hamilton, Audrey Shrader of Hamilton, and Sharon Nethery of Sulligent, brothers, Jason Holland of Hamilton and Phillip Stockman of Birmingham, her mother and father in law, Wesley and Wanda Guin of Guin and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Desiree will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday August 27, 2018 from the Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery.
