Mrs. Martha Dean Riley O’Brien, age 89, of Milton, FL. formerly of Winfield, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at her residence in Milton, FL.
Martha was a 1948 graduate of Winfield City High School and a 1951 graduate of South Highlands Hospital where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Lynn Allen of Milton, FL, five grandchildren, Tamara Lynn Allen, Brien Allen, Shannon Marie O’Brien, Jennie Ellis, and Katie O’Brien, five great grandchildren, Kayle Mercado, Kimberly Mercado, Connor Allen, Stadler Ellis and Mazzie Ellis and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Erdene Campbell Riley, her husband, Leonard M. O’Brien, a son, Larry Michael O’ Brien, sister, Betty Jean Norris and brothers, Earnest Ray Riley, Andre Riley and two infant brothers.
Funeral services for Mrs. O’Brien will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. from the Musgrove Chapel Methodist Church. Shane Ellis will officiate. Mr. Olen Terrell Miles, better known as Terry, age 67, of Birmingham formerly of Winfield, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham.
Terry was a 1970 graduate of Winfield City High School and a retired Vestavia Fire Fighter. Terry was an ordained minister; he loved the mission field, ministers, and church. He was a generous man and loved helping others. He was saint-like in these things. On his mischievous kinda-saintly side, Terry loved to laugh, purporting himself an amateur comedian. Terry loved turning one-liners with a few wise cracks thrown in, antics, and practical jokes. All of this in good fun of course, most of the time that is! Terry loved fishing and hunting, Alabama football, President Donald Trump, and Terry loved his MAMA! If you knew him, you would know, that no matter what stage of life or what kind of struggles he seemed to be facing, whether it be physical, financial, the loss of a loved one, or otherwise, Terry Loved Life!
He is survived by his daughter, Jesse Miles of Sterrett, AL, his mother, Dot Miles of Winfield, grandchildren, Taylor Wallace, Tristen Wallace and Rigsby Cook, a sister, Kayron Silas (Rebel) of Winfield, brothers, Gregg Miles (Terri) and Scott Miles (Cindy) both of Winfield, sister in law- Karen Perkins (Charlie) of Columbus, MS, brother in laws, Paul D. McClelland (Susan Griffin) of Leeds and Glenn E. McClelland (Susan) of Columbus, MS and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lori Miles, daughter, Danielle Miles, grandson, Skylar Wallace and his father, Olen Miles.
Funeral service for Terry will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Faith Fellowship Church in Winfield with burial to follow in West Alabama Memorial Gardens. Cynthia Lee Tice Dodd, age 52 of Brilliant, passed away on Thursday, December 26th 2019 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Cynthia was a 1985 graduate of Hamilton High School. Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Oneal and Linda Cochran Tice, and a brother, William Tice. She is survived by her husband, Tony Dodd of Brilliant, a daughter, Rachal (Chris) Lolley of Guin, two granddaughters, Tristyn Dodd and Chelsi Lolley, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 30, 2019 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Antioch Cemetery on County Highway 90 near Hackleburg. A visitation will be held from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home. Mr. H. E. Bostick, Jr. age 75, of Winfield, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019 in the DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. He was born on July 21, 1944 in Big Sandy, TN to Haskell Elwood Bostick, Sr. and Velda Bates Bostick. Mr. Bostick was a member of the Winfield First United Methodist Church, a 1962 graduate of Winfield City High School, a 1966 graduate of the University of Alabama, and a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
Mr. Bostick is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Jackson Bostick of Winfield, daughter, Katy Dyer (Keith) of Gordo and son, Jack Bostick (Heather) of Winfield, five grandchildren, J. B. Dyer, Zeb Dyer, Call Dyer, Emma Kate Bostick and Caroline Bostick, a sister, Carol Hurst of Huntsville and a brother, John Bostick (Betty) of Tuscaloosa, nieces and nephews, Susan Lowery, Jeffery Hurst, Andrea Gutshall and Nicole Frost, and a sister in law, Nancy Jackson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Haskell Elwood Bostick, Sr and Velda Bates Bostick.
