Mr. Billy B. Self, age 84 of Brilliant, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.
Billy was a member of the Goldmine Church of Christ, a U.S. Army Veteran, and a 1951 graduate of Brilliant High School. He was owner/operator of Self Grocery in Brilliant for many years, and loved his duty as a bus driver for the Brilliant School System.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Elton and Lottie Farris Self, a wife, Mary Self, and a son, Dewayne Self, and a brother , James Curtis Self. He is survived by his wife, Willie Helen Self, a brother, Jacky (Levonnie) Self of Brilliant, a sister, Virginia Mullenix of Graysville, step children, Ava Franks of North Carolina, Hilda Leonard (Dan) of Brilliant, Renee Seals of McCalla, Kelly Kitchens (Herman) of Auburn, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens. Jerry Self and Drew Manley officiating. The visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon (service time) on Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of Flowers the family request that donations be made to the Brilliant High School Softball Team.

Mr. Charles D. Reese, age 72 of Winfied, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at his residence. He was born on October 16, 1944 to Rubin and Emogene Kirk Reese of Gardendale, AL.
Mr. Reese was a Vietnam War veteran, serving his country for over 25 years in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked for the Army Corp of Engineers until his retirement in 2012.
Mr. Reese was a loving,husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Betty, a daughter, Lisa (Chad) Clark of Guin, AL, a son, Wade (LaTricia) Norris of Moyock, NC, 4 grandchildren he loved so dearly, Adam and Amanda Norris, and Kyndyl and Sarah Skeen, 2 sisters, Judy (Charles) Ballew and Bonita (Bert) Buford, all of Gardendale, AL, and 2 aunts, Gaitha Hinkle and Jewel Reese both of Guin, AL.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emma Kate Skeen.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. The family will recieve friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. (service time) on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Carol J. Caldwell Stephens, age 71, of Winfield, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Stephens was a member of Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold B. Caldwell, and her mother, Willie Lee Caldwell. Mrs. Stephens is survived by her husband, Jerry M. Stephens, four sons, Randall (Terri) Stephens, Mack (Cindy) Stephens, Chris (Amanda) Stephens, and Marcus (Tonya) Stephens, ten grandchildren, Amber Stephens, Ryan Stephens, Julie (Jonathon) Talbert, Rachel (John) Miller, Callie Stephens, Mackenzie Stephens, Andrew Stephens, Carter Stephens, Jacob Stephens, and Luke Stephens, a brother, Harold Wayne Caldwell, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church with burial to follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Bro Mike Beckon will officiate. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. (service time) at Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church.

Mr. Larry Joe Raburn, age 71 of Guin, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017 in Brookwood Medical Center’s Coronary Care Unit in Birmingham. Mr. Raburn was born on April 24, 1945, the son of the late Loice Milburn Raburn and Mary Nell Weeks Raburn. Mr. Raburn was a member of Winfield Church of Christ and a United States Navy Veteran, serving his country during the Vietnam conflict. Mr. Raburn lived in the Twin Community his entire life, serving on the Twin Town Council.
Larry was a 1963 graduate of Winfield City High School and a member of the Marion Co. Cattleman’s Association. He is preceded in death by his parents, Milburn and Mary Nell Raburn, and a son, Joseph Chad Raburn .He is survived by his wife, Shirley Thompson Raburn, one son, Benjamin Ross Raburn, and one daughter, Monica Noelle (Stewart) Roberts, a grandson, Gentry Wood, and a granddaughter, Natalie Wood.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday March 2, 2017 from the Winfield Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. (service time) on Thursday at the church. Burial will follow in the Zion Missionary Baptist Church cemetery. James Wyers to officiate.
