Mr. Louis Scott “Scotty” Sandlin, age 69 of Bear Creek, formally of Winfield, passed away at his residence in Bear Creek, Wednesday, January 24, 2018.  Scotty is preceded in death by his parents, Louie Bryce & Evelyn Tidwell Sandlin, his wife, Peggy Sexton Sandlin, and a brother Teddy Sandlin.  He is survived by his children, Melissa Stovall (Alan), Kim Aldridge (Scott) and Rob Sandlin (Amy), grandchildren, Hillary Smith (Chad), Derek Stovall, Will and Ty Aldridge, great grandchildren, Cailyn and Caralee Smith, step grandchildren, Cameron and Andrew Taylor, Santana Reeves (Daryl), step great grandchildren, Oakley, Jaxon and Hadley Jo Hallmon and his sisters and brothers, Shelia Hill (Lennith), Bobby Sandlin (Crystal), Rosie Sandlin, Sharon Watley (Don) and Randy Sandlin (Kim), a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.  Funeral services for Mr. Sandlin will be held at 3:00 p.m. on, Sunday, January 28, 2018 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Winfield City Cemetery.  Bro. Mr. Jimmy Derrell VickeryMr. Jimmy Derrell Vickery, age 70 of Brilliant, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at his residence. 

Jimmy was employed with the Winfield City School System for 29 years, from 1978 until his retirement in 2007. He was devoted to his job and his family. He was an accomplished carpenter, electrician and “jack of all trades”.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, James “Jim” and Dessie O. Vickery, sisters, Juanita “Blondie” Whitehead, Willodean Dickinson and Betty Sue Gann, and a brother, Bobby Gene Vickery. 

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Brenda Gilbert Vickery, son, Jeffery Vickery (Cindy), daughter, Kristie Dean (Charles), grandchildren, Corey & Zach Vickery and James Lexton “Leck” Corkren, great grandchildren, Aydrian, Layken and Braylon Vickery, step grandchildren, Ethon, CJ and Cadance Dean, a brother, Danny Vickery (Joan), a special niece, Paula Grant, his dogs, Bama and Haley, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. 

Funeral services for Mr. Vickery will be held Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Goldmine Cemetery in Brilliant. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jonnie Sue MarkhamMrs. Jonnie Sue Markham, better known as “Sue," age 86 of Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in the Sunset Manor Healthcare Facility in Guin.   

Sue was a member of the Winfield First Baptist Church where she served as treasurer for the Kennagers Class, a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, and a former member of the American Legion.   

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Lee Conner and Lila Mae Cook Conner, and her husband, Roy Markham. She is survived by her children, Lisa Dozier of Winfield, a son, Gary Markham (Vicky) of Birmingham, grandchildren, Kimberly Hooten (Jim) of Remlap, Christopher Markham of Birmingham, Eric Markham of Birmingham, Melissa Scone (Ryan) of Chattanooga, TN, Chad Dozier (Fallon) of PA, great grandchildren, Lilly, Olivia, Reagan, Kendall, Dylan and Holden and other relatives and friends. 

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home.

Mr. Robert Dale GuinMr. Robert Dale Guin, better known as “Cowboy," age 70 of Guin, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Guin was born September 1, 1947 to Lecil and Inez Guin and was raised on their farm in Marion County. 

Cowboy was a State Champion in the 4H cattle show and graduated from Marion County High School in 1966 where he was a standout guard and linebacker. He played for Coach Joe Hubbert and credited him for his success in life.   

Mr. Guin worked at the 3M Company in Guin for 42 years and was a supervisor for 36 of those years. He served in the United States National Guard for 13 years. 

Cowboy enjoyed rabbit and coon hunting, fishing, gardening, and Auburn football. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Thyra Guin, son, Heath Guin (Melody), daughter, Amy Frederick (Jeremy), grandchildren, Presley Alexis Guin, Bailey & Brodie Frederick, his sisters, Mary Elaine Ballard (Andy) and Sandy Hopkins (Steve), several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. 

Mr. Guin is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Donald Guin, sister, Carolyn Ann Sizemore, a niece, Cathy Ballard and nephew, Jared Guin.    

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win. Larry Alexander will be the officiating minister. 

The visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
