Mr. Landon Farris, age 84 of Winfield, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 in the Brookwood Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham.

Landon was a member of the Eldridge Church of Christ, a 1954 graduate of Hubbertville High School and retired from Continental Conveyor & Equipment Co. in Winfield.

He is survived by his children, David Farris, Debbie Sizemore (JD) and Daryle Farris (Marsha), his grandchildren, Zach, Evan, Jake and Janice, brothers, Frank Farris, Jr. and B. G. “Bud” Farris, sisters, Mary Hyche and Nella McGraw (Ed) and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Farris, his parents, George F. Farris, Sr. and Emma Jane Norris Farris a sister, Dot Doyle and two brothers, Jim and Curry Farris.

A private family burial will be held on Sunday, January, 17, 2020 from the Kelley Cemetery in Eldridge. Bowen Funeral Home serving the Farris family.

Mr. Johnny James Porter, age 80 of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in the DCH Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.

Johnny was born on January 11, 1940 in Buhl, Alabama to Jessie and Rosa Lee Porter. He was a member of the Winfield Freewill Baptist Church and an expert mechanic. Mr. Porter worked of many years in the textile industry and later retired from Continental Conveyor & Equipment Co. in Winfield.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Lou Porter, sons, Jerry Porter (Lisa) and Tony Porter (Katrina), grandchildren, Toby Porter, Jeremy Porter (Josie), Ashley Papanie (Chris), Valarie Porter, Brandi Porter, great grandchildren, Ledger, Jasper, Olivia, Layla, Louella James and Eva Camilla, three sisters, Elaine McKinley (Marvin), Leola Vowell and Frankie Gann, three brothers, Jessie Porter (Glenette), Billy Porter (Angela) and Earl Porter, sisters in law, Gaynell Dunavant, Sue Howell and Lila Mae Barnes, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Lonzo Porter and Rosa Lee Dillard Porter, a granddaughter, Linsey Porter, nieces, Jeanette Simmons, Tammy Wright and Jennifer McKinley, nephews, Phillip Wright and Dustin Wright.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January, 19, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Mt. Willing Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Angela Denise Burleson, age 52 of Guin, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at her residence.

Angela was a Church of Christ member, a 1986 graduate of Brilliant High School. She attended Bevill State Community College in Hamilton and worked with North Mississippi Medical Center in Hamilton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J. C. Burleson and Maylene Gilbert Burleson. Angela is survived by her sister, Shelia Burleson and Martha Henson Burleson both of Guin, her brothers, James Allen Burleson (Cathy), Wayne Burleson, Dan Burleson, Greg Burleson (Sonja) and a special cousin, Paula Grant and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A funeral service for Angela will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Brock Church of Christ Cemetery. Mr. David Larry Harkness, better known as Larry, age 66, of Winfield, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.

Larry was born in 1954 to Boss and Lorene Johnson Harkness in Winfield, AL. He attended Winfield City School where he met his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Susan, they were married in 1972. In 1973 they welcomed their first daughter, Stephanie, in 1977 they welcomed their second daughter, Tiffany. Larry served in the Alabama National Guard for 19 years and retired form NTN Bower after 25 years. In 1995 he became a licensed minister and was ordained for the work in 1996.  He was co-founder of the Walker County Disaster Team and worked at ground zero during 9/11 and always assisted during other natural disasters. Larry served as camp director at the Walker Baptist Campground in Nauvoo for 7 years and was Community Church Minister for Walker County Baptist Association for 16 years. The last 6 years Larry served as Pastor of Sand Springs Baptist Church. He was always eager to help in times of need, always a servant of the Lord, preaching and spreading the gospel and telling others about Jesus Christ.

Larry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Barnes Harkness, daughters, Stephanie Price and Tiffany Harkness, brothers, Jerry Harkness (Debbie) of Montgomery and Barry Harkness (Pam) of Kentucky, a host of nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law, church family and friends, and special close friends, Bill and Sue Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Boss and Lorene Harkness, a brother, Tony Harkness, and his father and mother in-law, Guy and Ruby Barnes.

Funeral services for Larry will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens.
