Mr. Jimmie Ray Perry better Known as Jim, age 88 of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 in the Diversicare Health Care Facility in Winfield. Jim was born in Fayette, AL on December 12, 1933 to Columbus and Lena Webster Perry. He was a 1953 graduate of Winfield City High School and attended Winfield Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Perry was a United States Army Veteran, stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict. After returning to the states, he went to work with Brown & Root Pipeline and was owner/operator of Jim’s Grocery in Winfield. He later was employed as a security guard for Deer Valley and Winfield Rubber. Jim loved to play golf; he could often be found at Pikeville Country club enjoying a round with his friends. He loved his pet parakeets and watching Alabama football.

Mr. Perry is survived by his brother, Kudell Perry of Winfield and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Virgie Lee Baccus, Christine Smith, Imo Jean Waldrop, brothers, Seaburn Perry, Hollis Ray Perry, Maurise Perry and Jessie Perry.

Funeral services for Mr. Perry will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win. The visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
