Mr. Talton B. Doss, age 98 of Anniston, formerly of Winfield, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021.

Mr. Doss was a United States Navy WWII Veteran. He was stationed in Pensacola as a barber during his service with the military. Following his military career, he relocated to Alaska and worked as a barber for many years. He returned to Alabama in his early fifties and married his sweetheart, Lucille Ingle. Mr. Doss loved his family and friends and tending to his cattle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus J. and Genary Smith Doss, his wife. Lucille Ingle Doss, his brothers, Ralph and Booker Doss, and his sisters, Edith Doss, and Ila Dean Elliott. Talton is survived by his sister, Genese Doss Beasley of Anniston, a sister-in-law, Merle McDonald of Winfield, and host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Doss will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens. Vance Hutton and James Wyers will be the officiating ministers. Mr. Richard Bert Guin better known as R.B. age 76 of the Twin Community passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 in the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

R.B. was born in Fayette County on November 25, 1944 to Coy and Eulice Guin. He was a member of the Bethlehem FWB Church in Pea Ridge. R.B. was a 1964 graduate of Brilliant High School. He was known for his PawPaw’s Wrecker Service, “The” MacGyver of all things, a HOT ROD, but most of all for being a good Christian man. R.B. enjoyed life! Adored his family, loved being outdoors and never wasted a moment of daylight, no matter how many times he was called for supper and loved to eat a good LONG meal. He never met a stranger, and was always prepared for any RISKY adventure while enjoying his Cheetos and Mtn. Dew’s.

R.B. was preceded in death by a daughter, Delena Guin Benton, a granddaughter, Johnna Gibbs, his parents, Coy and Eulice Heath Guin, in-laws, Daniel L. and Mildred Rye Brown, brothers-in-law, Roger Brown and Randall Brown. He is survived by the love of his life for 53 years, Elizabeth Brown Guin, daughters, Shandra Gibbs (Jamie), Leanda Smith (Andy) and his sidekick, Berk, grandchildren, Sage Brasher (Charity), Blade Brasher (Kaylin), Morgan Jenkins (Luke), Payton Roberts (Micah), Steven Smith, Dixie Benton (Thomas) and Kaleigh Smith, great grandchildren, Dalleigh Jane Smith, Braxton Jenkins, Berkleigh Sage Brasher, Sadie Utley, Asher Smith, Marley Jo Jenkins and baby Remi Jo Brasher, on the way.

Mr. Uless Dewey Ward, Jr. age 69 of the Wayside community, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield. Dewey was born on October 15, 1951 in Winfield, Alabama to Uless “Hob” and Bertha Dobbs Ward. Dewey was a member of the Siloam Baptist Church and 1969 graduate of Winfield High School. Mr. Ward worked for Quantum Construction Company and as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 2018. Mr. Ward loved his wife, his children, his granddaughter and his family. He enjoyed fishing and watching all Alabama Athletics, especially Alabama Football.

Dewey is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sandra Vickery Ward, his daughter, Alicia Cowart (Craig), a son, Chris Ward, and his “sunshine” and granddaughter, Natalee Ward, his sisters, Mary Chappell (Seaborn), Freddie Hull and Frances Burnes, a brother, Gary W. Ward and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and close friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer LaShae Ward, his parents, Uless Dewey Ward, Sr. and Bertha Dobbs Ward, a sister, Dorothy Agee, a brother, Benjamin Ward and brothers-in-law, Perry Burns and John Hull.

Funeral services for Dewey will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home. The family request that a face covering be worn and practice social distancing during the services. Mr. Walter Clarence Bly, age 85 of the Hubbertville community, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021 in the Diversicare Health Care Center in Winfield.

Mr. Bly was born in Fayette County on January 6, 1936 to Walter Fenton and Lillie Pender Bly. Mr. Bly was a song leader and member of White Springs Methodist Church. Clarence was employed for many years with the road crew of Fayette County Commission and was the owner/operator of Bly’s bait shop.

Mr. Bly is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wanda Webster Bly, his daughter, Kimm Bly Roberts (Tim) his pride and joy, grandsons, Ross Hayden Roberts and Daniel O’Brian Roberts (fiancé, Andrea Benefield) and a sister, Wilma Sullins of Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lillie Bly, a brother, Columbus Bly, sisters, Audrey Gosa, Willie Mae Vallejo and Charlene Bly.

Funeral services for Mr. Bly will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the White Springs Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the White Springs Methodist Church Cemetery Fund at the Citizens Bank of Winfield in memory of Mr. Bly.
