Christopher Shannon Sargent, age 51, of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 in Minnesota. Chris was born on March 10, 1974, in Jasper, Alabama to Drew Benny Sargent and Linda Poston. He spent his career in the construction industry, beginning his work with L.G. Baccus and Sons in 1999. Over the years, he worked for various other construction companies before returning to L.G. Baccus and Sons, where he was employed at the time of his passing. When not working, Christopher enjoyed deer hunting and spending time with his family. He was a huge Auburn fan and loved cheering on the tigers.
Chris leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 22 years, Kimberly Sargent, his daughters, Christina Sargent (Hunter) and Paige Sargent, his son, Payton Sargent (Maci), his stepson, Justin Armstrong, his grandchildren, Brooks (Kaidence), Marley, Emmett, Oaklee, Preslee Jo, Naomi, Isla, and Niklaus whom he loved with all his heart, his sisters, Carla Sturdivant (Steve) and Jennifer Trotter (Jeremy), his brother, Benny Sargent, sister-in-law, Pam Cooper, special friend, Gilbert Kimbrell and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. He also leaves behind his spoiled fur baby, Bebe, who was his constant companion.
Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Poston, and his father, Drew Benny Sargent.
Funeral services for Chris will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Eldridge Church of Christ with burial to follow in the Kelley Cemetery. The body will lie in state on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the church. The visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Donna Kae Hulsey, age 73, of Winfield, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025 in the Diversicare Nursing Facility. Donna was born on February 10, 1952, one of three daughters to JD and Margie Lee Orsborn. She attended Winfield City High School and was a longtime member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church. She spent her career working in customer service at various convenience stores and restaurants and was best known as the owner and operator of Skeeter’s Restaurant for many years. Donna loved to tell stories, dance and sing, visit with friends, take road trips with her sister, and bake – she was especially known for her delicious fried chocolate pies. Donna never met a stranger; she could talk to anyone. She was always full of life, fun loving, and loved spending time with family and friends.
Mrs. Hulsey is survived by her sons, Jason Hulsey (Kathy Mabury) and Dustin Hulsey, her granddaughter, Addison, her sisters, Judy Roberts and Jean Causey, special brother-in-law, Ronald Causey, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends.
Mrs. Hulsey was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Hulsey, and her parents.

Mrs. Elizabeth Virginia Skelton, better known as Virginia, age 96 of Brilliant, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 12, 2025. She passed away in the South Haven Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hoover, Alabama. Virginia was a devoted woman of faith, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Skelton was born on December 14, 1928 in Brilliant, Alabama, she was the cherished daughter of Charles Monroe Huguley and Mary Etta Hulsey Huguley. She was a graduate of Brillant High School and Birmingham Business College. She was employed with Alabama Association of Credit Executives in Birmingham for 35 years until her retirement. Virginia’s life was a testimony of grace, love and unwavering faith. She was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where she found great joy in worship, fellowship, and serving others. Her gentle spirit, kind heart and steadfast prayers were a blessing to all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Marsha Skelton Parker and her husband, Dennis, her beloved granddaughter, Jessica Parker Newman and husband Jeff Newman, II, and two great grandchildren, Julieanne Newman Abston her husband, Jared and Jeff Newman, III and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Skelton was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Charlie “JC” Skelton, her parents and nine siblings, Ruby Norris, Helen Stanford, Eloise Lawrence, Herbert, Earl, Hermon, Rayburn, Charles, and Leon Huguley.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. service time. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to your favorite charitable organization or church in memory on Mrs. Skelton.
Though her earthly journey has come to an end Virginia’s faith assures us that she now rests in eternal peace, reunited with her loved ones in Heaven.

Gregory Scott Walker, age 55, of the Twin community passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at the Noth Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Scott was born on March 10, 1970 in Amory, Mississippi, to Jimmy and Shenna Burleson Walker. He was a longtime member of Philadelphia Church and a 1988 graduate of Marion County High School. That same year, Scott began his career with Continental Conveyor, where he worked for the last 38 years. Scott was known for his easygoing nature and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone-he truly never met a stranger. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, farming, tinkering with tractors and Ford trucks, and spending time outdoors.
Scott is survived by his 2 daughters, MaKaylee Carr (Matthew) and Marlee Robins (Daniel), his grandchildren, Mattie Jo Carr, Delia Ann Robins, and Harvey Robins, his parents, Jimmy and Shenna Walker, a special cousin, Emile Addison, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members and friends.
Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Ruby Walker, and Emit and Ammalee Burleson, his aunt, Elizabeth Addison, and his uncle, Johnny Walker.
Funeral services for Scott will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. service time at the funeral home.
