Rodney Earl Nalls, age 55, of Winfield passed away on Monday, August 1, 2023 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, AL. Rodney was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 12, 1968 to Robert Earl Nalls and Sarah Ann Bryant Culp. He was a member of the Church of Christ and attended Winfield City High School. Rodney spent much of his life employed in construction. Rodney enjoyed watching Auburn Football and socializing with his friends. Rodney was an all-around good guy and always took pride in the way he looked. He loved being around people and making them laugh.

Rodney is survived by his mother, Sarah Ann Culp of Winfield, AL, his father, Robert Earl Nalls of Columbus, MS, sisters, Shelia Nalls Ibrahim of Delaware, Sharon Nalls of Texas, Shamekia Wilson and Laguana Wilson both of New Orleans, and Shervica Nalls of Mississippi, brothers, Luther, Larry and Tony Hackman all of Mississippi, Valtire Ray Nalls of Wisconsin, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, all family members, friends, and his family and friends at Hamilton Manor.

Rodney was preceded in death by his grandparents, Flem and Dessie Bryant, and Robert and Olean Nalls.

Funeral services for Rodney will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow in the Hodges Chapel Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Michael Anthony Dodd, better known as Tony, age 56 of Winfield passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023 in the DCH Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Tony was born in Haleyville, AL on April 12, 1967 to Gary Wayne Dodd and Sarah Cagle. He was a 1985 graduate of Brilliant High School. Tony was employed in the mobile home industry for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed painting, woodworking, listening to music, hunting, and spending time with his granddaughters.

Tony is survived by his father, Gary Wayne Dodd (Diane) his mother, Sarah Cagle Gray, daughter, Rachal Lolley (Chris), granddaughters, Tristyn and Chelsi, grandmother, LouNell Barnes Cagle, sisters, Angie Roberts, Sandy Scott, Alisa Tidwell, Keisha Franks (Anthony), Kimberly Thomas and Danielle Herod (Austin), aunts, Deborah Cagle Smith, Wynonia Dodd and Sondra Dodd, uncles, Charles Dodd (Lois) and Jerome Dodd (Judy) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Tice Dodd, grandfather, Kermit Cagle and grandparents, Frank and Ella Dodd, brother-in-law, Wendell Roberts.

Funeral services for Tony will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Antioch Cemetery near Hackleburg. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnie James Thorpe, better known as J.J., age 49 of Winfield passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at his residence. J.J. was born in Jasper, Alabama on November 3, 1973 to Johnie Wayne Byars and Janet Thorpe. He attended Walker County High School and was employed with various area mobile home plants throughout the years. In his spare time J.J. enjoyed camping, being outdoors, music, Marvel Comics, playing video games, and spending time with his children.

J.J. is survived by his wife, Lana Webster Thorpe, children, Nicolas Thorpe (Katie), Chris Thorpe, Emily Thorpe, and Willow Thorpe, mother, Janet Thorpe, brothers, Dwayne Thorpe (Kathryn), Shane Thorpe, Frankie Byars, and Patrick Byars, sister, Norma Byars, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

J.J. was preceded in death by his father Johnie Byars.

A memorial service for Mr. Thorpe will be held on Thursday, August 3rd at 3:00 p.m. from the Whites Chapel Church of Christ.

Mrs. Dorothy Bolton, better known as Dot, age 87 of Winfield passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023 in the Kemp Meadows Memory Care Facility. Mrs. Bolton was born on June 2, 1936 in Fayette County to Houston and Ada Bell Lee Bly. Dot was a member of the Winfield First Baptist Church and a 1954 graduate of Winfield High School. She was the personnel director and office manager for Reltoc Manufacturing for more than 30 years. She was later employed with Fruit of the Loom Industries in Fayette before her retirement in 2001. Dot served for many years on the board of the Main Street, Pastime Theater, and Tree City Programs in Winfield. She was instrumental in implementing the brick paver program for Main Street, founding the Patio, and the installation of the decorative streetlamps throughout the downtown area. Mrs. Bolton loved Winfield and made many efforts in helping with its beautification projects and its preservation.

Mrs. Bolton is survived by her husband of 71 years, Guy Bolton Jr., sons, Guy Robert Bolton III “Rob” and his wife Tammy, and William Dant Bolton, grandchildren, Kyle Bolton (Tressa), Tabetha Johnson (Clay) and Matthew Reyes (Macy), great-grandchildren, Kinley and Kaylee Bolton, Emmett and Arlan Johnson, and Hilton Reyes, sister-in-law, Frances Otheal Burns, brother-in-law, Steve Bolton (Cathy), and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

Mrs. Bolton was preceded in death by her parents Houston and Ada Bell Bly.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bolton will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the White Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
