
Mr. Uless Dewey Ward, Jr. age 69 of the Wayside community, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield. Dewey was born on October 15, 1951 in Winfield, Alabama to Uless “Hob” and Bertha Dobbs Ward. Dewey was a member of the Siloam Baptist Church and 1969 graduate of Winfield High School. Mr. Ward worked for Quantum Construction Company and as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 2018. Mr. Ward loved his wife, his children, his granddaughter and his family. He enjoyed fishing and watching all Alabama Athletics, especially Alabama Football.
Dewey is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sandra Vickery Ward, his daughter, Alicia Cowart (Craig), a son, Chris Ward, and his “sunshine” and granddaughter, Natalee Ward, his sisters, Mary Chappell (Seaborn), Freddie Hull and Frances Burnes, a brother, Gary W. Ward and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and close friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer LaShae Ward, his parents, Uless Dewey Ward, Sr. and Bertha Dobbs Ward, a sister, Dorothy Agee, a brother, Benjamin Ward and brothers-in-law, Perry Burns and John Hull.
Funeral services for Dewey will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home. The family request that a face covering be worn and practice social distancing during the services. Mr. Walter Clarence Bly, age 85 of the Hubbertville community, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021 in the Diversicare Health Care Center in Winfield.
Mr. Bly was born in Fayette County on January 6, 1936 to Walter Fenton and Lillie Pender Bly. Mr. Bly was a song leader and member of White Springs Methodist Church. Clarence was employed for many years with the road crew of Fayette County Commission and was the owner/operator of Bly’s bait shop.
Mr. Bly is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wanda Webster Bly, his daughter, Kimm Bly Roberts (Tim) his pride and joy, grandsons, Ross Hayden Roberts and Daniel O’Brian Roberts (fiancé, Andrea Benefield) and a sister, Wilma Sullins of Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lillie Bly, a brother, Columbus Bly, sisters, Audrey Gosa, Willie Mae Vallejo and Charlene Bly.
Funeral services for Mr. Bly will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the White Springs Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the White Springs Methodist Church Cemetery Fund at the Citizens Bank of Winfield in memory of Mr. Bly.


Mr. David Hilmon Beasley, better known as Chuck age 90, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 in the Princeton Baptist Medical Center. Chuck was born in Marion County Alabama on January 11, 1931 to John and Emma Keeton Beasley. He was a member of the Popular Springs Primitive Baptist Church. Chuck was employed with the Winfield Cotton Mill for many years, he was an auctioneer, ran livestock auctions, and he participated in and helped to produce many rodeos. Chuck was always a ready and willing participant in all of the Mule Day festivities. Mr. Beasley was also an accomplished musician and a Sacred Harp singer; he loved to write songs and play his music.
Mr. Beasley is survived by his sons, Greg Beasley (Patty) and Justin Beasley (Jing) a son-in-law, Scott Kelley, brothers, Marlin Beasley (Nita) and Bunk Beasley (Linda), sisters, Sarah Beasley, Cora Jones (Richard), Rebecca Briggs, grandchildren, Beth Boyd, Amy Smith, Sherry Keeton, Chad Beasley, Cali Alexander, Christi Webster, Clint Beasley, Clark Beasley, Emily Beasley, Jace Beasley, great grandchildren, Andrew, Natalie, and Kate Beasley, Will, Garret and Laney Beasley, Cannon, Gage and Easton Alexander, Makayla Webster Nelson, Lexie Webster, Kelli Shealy, Ben Evans, Trace Deavours, Hayden Dunn, Jackson Smith, and his great great grandchildren, Paige Shealy and Jettson Beasley and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Sue Harkness Beasley, a daughter, Patsy Rose Kelley, brothers, Joseph J. Beasley and John Beasley, sisters, Mary Frances Lee and Myrtle Ann Ballard.
The funeral service for Mr. Beasley will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Camp Comfort Cemetery. Mr. James Ray Crews, age 77 of Winfield, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.
Mr. Crews was born in Fayette County Alabama on March 22, 1943 to Grady and Audie Crews. He was known for being a water finder and well digger. He enjoyed working in his garden and spending time with his family and friends.
James is survived by his brother, George Crews (Linda) and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady Crews and Audie Flyne Crews.
The funeral service for Mr. Crews will be held on Saturday 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mt. Willing Freewill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. The visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. (service time) at the church.
