Mrs. Betty Jean Soucy, age 70, of Winfield, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 in the UAB Medical Center in Birmingham. Betty was born on January 24, 1949 in Winfield, AL to Robert Walker and Eulene Thompson Walker. Betty first earned a degree in Cosmetology, but her love was always helping others, she later earned her certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was employed with Beverly Health Care Center in Winfield for 20 years until her retirement. She loved her children and grandchildren, going to yard sales, thrift stores and collecting trinkets.

Betty is survived by her husband, Joe Soucy of Brilliant, her daughters, Kim Gosa (Lyn Lawson) of Winfield, Cindy Avery (Scott) of Brilliant, Tanya Wallace (Doug) of Austin , TX and Amanda Barnett (Dusty) of Brilliant, grandchildren, Ethan McCluskey (fiancé, Carley Anthony), Jacob , David, Daniel, Isaac, Isaiah and Leslie Wallace, Carrington and Marlee Barnett, Ty and Tuck Avery and Zackary Gosa-Lewis, a great grandchild, Kopen Brett McCluskey (on the way) and two sisters, Donna Tittle of Brilliant and Pat Flanagan of Brilliant. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Eulene Walker, a grandson, Isaac Seth Vann, and her brother, James Carol Walker

Funeral services for Betty will be held on Monday, September 2, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Center United Methodist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be on Monday, September 2, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home. Bowen Funeral Home serving the Soucy family.

Mrs. Dorothy Markham, age 88, of Winfield, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 in the Diversicare Health Care Center in Winfield. Mrs. Markham was a lifelong active member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church; she loved her family and her church family. She was co-owner/operator of Modern Beauty Shop in Winfield for many years. She was later employed by the Winfield Board of Education and the Citizens Bank of Winfield.

Mrs. Markham was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Reed and Bessie Webster Reed, her husband, Junior Ray Markham, granddaughter, Scarlett Markham Tidwell, five sisters and four brothers. She is survived by her children, Rebecca Carothers (Bubba) of Winfield and James Markham (LaJuana) of Winfield, grandchildren, Rob Carothers (Susan) of Mobile, Reed Carothers of Winfield, Ryan Carothers (Molly) of Winfield and Tara Markham of Winfield, great grandchildren, Campbell, Mac, Bonner, Bo and Beckett Carothers, John Mark , Anna Claire and Ally Tidwell, and Caden and Will Dickey, sister, Norma Atkinson of Winfield and grandson in law, Daniel Tidwell of Winfield.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Harmony Grove Baptist Church. Funeral service will be Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Harmony Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. Tallon Lee Burleson, age 19, of Winfield, passed away Friday, August 30, 2019. He was born on November 1, 1999 to Bret and Keisha Tucker Burleson. Tallon was a 2018 graduate of Winfield City High School.

He is survived by his parents, a brother, Tanner Burleson (Kate Summer), his sister, Kyleigh Burleson, grandparents, Richard and Sue Tucker and Albert and Sherry Burleson, aunts, Kelly Snow (Don) and Lori White (Terry), cousins, McCain Merchant (Morganne), Trey Snow, Seth White and Ryan White. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Freeman and Jennie Mae Tucker, Vic and Christine Bryan, Andrew and Opal Burleson and Eugene and Louise Estes, cousins, Keith Box, Mike Estes, Ed Plunkett and Carrie Ann Plunkett.

Funeral services for Tallon will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. from the Winfield Church of God with burial to follow in the Tidwell Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (service time) at the church. Deric Rea, Grant Webb and Leigh Ann Stewart will officiate the service. Ms. Brenda Couch, age 70, of Winfield, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at her residence. Brenda was born on May 1, 1949 and was a 1967 graduate of Winfield City High School.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Leonard Couch and Vernettia Henderson Couch, a brother, David Couch, an infant brother and two grandsons, Preston and Tyson Tucker. Brenda is survived by her children, Lisa Benton (Daniel) of Winfield and Brenda Pinkard of Guin, grandchildren, Michael Tucker, Dillion Tucker, Tyler Wright, Breanna Scott, Brooke Pinkard and Brandon Pinkard, great grandchildren, Blayze Tucker, Kynal Tucker, Bridgette Pinkard, Oliver Wright, Austin Pinkard, Maverick Tucker, Evelynn Pinkard, Kolton Tucker and three on the way, sister, Linda Johnson of Winfield and a brother, Tim Couch (Sandy) of Winfield and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.  Funeral services from Ms. Couch will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Brother Thomas Nix and Greg Webb will be the officiating ministers.
