Mrs. Pauline Elliot Macklin, age 92, of Birmingham, formerly of the Winfield area, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at her residence. Mrs. Macklin was the youngest of 7 children born to Roy and Mattie Donald Elliot. Pauline accepted Christ into her life at an early age and was a long-time member of the Palisades Church of Christ in Birmingham. She married James D. Montgomery and together they had 6 children. Pauline was employed with Health-Tex Industries while living in Alabama. She and her family later moved to Boston, MA where she was employed as a Nursing Assistant and Tupperware salesperson for many years. Mrs. Macklin retired from the VA Hospital after moving back to Alabama. After her retirement she worked as a door greeter for Walmart which only fueled her love for people. Her home was always open to anyone needing a place to stay. Her life motto of loving and sharing was “No stranger ever came through my door.”

Mrs. Macklin is survived by her daughters, Helen Jones, Etta Montgomery, and Mattie Albert (Dale), son, Franklin Montgomery, Sr. (Yvonne), special daughter, Glenda Hodge (Marion), god daughter, Crystal Finch, grandchildren, Jerome Montgomery (Kimberly), Cornelius Jones (Mekeisha), Tia Montgomery, Mitchell Montgomery (Odessa), Franklin Montgomery, Jr., Joseph Montgomery, Faith Montgomery, and Michael Montgomery, Aisha Edwards (Donavan), Marion Hodge, Jr., and Passion Hodge, special grandchildren, Russandra Beavers, special nephew, Jessie Sampson (Jenna), sisters-in-law, Lucy Elliot and Zanie Elliot, and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, church family members and friends whose lives she touched during her lifetime.

Mrs. Macklin was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Macklin, her parents, sons, Robert Montgomery and James Montgomery, Jr., granddaughter, Hope Washington, great-grandson, Boston Montgomery, brothers, Noah Sampson, Frank Sampson, Marvin Elliot, Rufus Elliot, Sr., and Willie Moore, sister, Emma Ruth Finch, and son-in-law, Jesse Jones.

Funeral services for Mrs. Macklin will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the Palisades Church of Christ at 625 Palisades Blvd, Birmingham, AL 35209 with burial to follow in the Mayfield Church of Christ Cemetery near Hubbertville. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. service time. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel in Winfield.

Mr. Danny Wayne Harbin, age 71 of Winfield passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023 in the DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa after a long fight with cancer. Danny was born on November 2, 1951 in Fayette County, to Grady and Elsie Smith Harbin. He was a member of the Fayette Church of Christ and a 1970 graduate of Hubbertville High School. Danny was employed with Continental Conveyor and Equipment Company, Inc. in Winfield, Alabama for 48 years. He was a member of the Alabama Football Official Association and Northwest Alabama Basketball Association; Danny has served the surrounding areas refereeing for many schools and associations for over 38 years. He enjoyed fishing, Alabama Sports, and spending time with his wife, daughter and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rhonda Spann Harbin , daughter, Misty Hubbert and her husband Kevin, his grandchildren, McKain Hubbert (Hannah), RaeAnna Hubbert (Mark Hulsey) and Mylie Kate Hubbert, great grandchildren, Kyson Hubbert and Dani Claire Hubbert, sister, Margaret Drummond, brother, Ted Harbin (Kathy), brothers-in-law, Keith Spann (Deborah), Lance Spann (Rose) and Rod Spann and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Yvonne Smith, brothers, Alfred, Eugene and Tommy Harbin, his father and mother-in-law, Charles and Pat Spann, and a brother-in-law, Phillip Drummond.

Funeral services for Danny will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Whites Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Donna Lynne Vickery, age 75, of Winfield passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at her residence. Mrs. Vickery was born on January 22, 1948 in Pasadena, TX to Thomas and Helen Vaughn Davis. Donna was one of three daughters; a child of a Navy serviceman, she spent her childhood living in Hawaii before returning to Dallas, Texas, where she graduated in 1966. She and her family moved to Alabama in the 1980’s where she lived out the remainder of her life. Donna was employed for more than 20 years as a Monitor Technician with Northwest Medical Center before her retirement. In her spare time Donna enjoyed working in her flower beds, reading, and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Vickery is survived by her daughters, Tina Weeks (Tim), Tonya Cagle, and Monica Key (Gary), son, Jonathan Cagle (Rhonda), grandchildren, Justin, Michael (Chelsea), Heather (Wayne), Daxton (Raeann), Morgan (Tay), Haley (Anthony), Aly, Chance (Olivia), and Alexis (Hunter), 24 great-grandchildren, sisters, Pamela Powell (Jimmy) and Karen Koopmann (Martin) both of La Grange, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vickery was preceded in death by her husband of 18 years, William Elsworth Vickery, son, Billy Ronald Cagle Jr., and granddaughter, Tiffany Michelle Cagle.

Funeral services for Mrs. Vickery will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Troy Thomas Norris, age 84 of Jasper passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at his daughters’ residence. Mr. Norris was born on June 15, 1938 in Guin, Alabama to Emmerson and Annie Norris. Troy was as member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ and Crossroads Church of Christ. He was always very active and enjoyed being involved with church and church activities. Troy was employed with various mining companies in the surrounding area for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, watching Alabama football and spending time with his family.

Mr. Norris is survived by his daughter, Linda Neumann, granddaughter, Kayla Thomas and her husband Ken, grandson, Zachary Neumann, great grandson, Brantley Thomas, sisters-in-law, Lois Elkins and Carol Cagle, brothers, Cecil, James and William Norris and a host of other relatives, church family and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavern Dodd Norris, daughter, Loretta Ann Norris, grandson, Aaron Neumann, his parents, a sister, Velma Norris and brothers, Emmit, Rubin, Larry Dean, RC and Billy Norris.
