Mr. John Cantrell Birmingham, age 86, of Guin passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023 at his residence. Mr. Birmingham was born on August 19, 1936 in Plantersville, Mississippi to Maburn and Myra Birmingham. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church. John was a 1954 graduate of Winfield City High School; he later served his country in the United States Army. He spent much of his life employed as a Commercial Contractor. John was well known in this area for playing Santa Claus, which he enjoyed doing for over 25 years. In his spare time John enjoyed many hobbies, some of which were fishing, reading, doing crossword puzzles, carpentry work, and telling stories.

Mr. Birmingham is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha Birmingham, sons, John D. Birmingham and Jaime Birmingham (Jennifer), daughter, Jennifer Birmingham, grandchildren, Jonathon Birmingham, Jared Moore, Jordan Moore, Joshua Nash, Jacob Nash (Kaylynn), Major Birmingham, and Addie Birmingham, sister, Louise Birmingham Stewart, sister-in-law, Linda Birmingham, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Birmingham was preceded in death by his daughter, Joy Anne Moore, and brothers, Reverend Ed Birmingham and Danny Joe Birmingham.

Funeral services for Mr. Birmingham will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Betty Ann Miles, age 79, of Winfield passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023 in the DCH Regional Medical Center. Betty was born on October 8, 1943 in Winfield, AL to Bennie and Annie Howton Bussey. Mrs. Miles was a member of the Guin Freewill Baptist Church and a 1962 graduate of Winfield City High School. She spent much of her life employed with Reltoc Manufacturing, from where she retired after 30 years of service. In her spare time Betty enjoyed sewing, making crafts, drawing and painting.

She is survived by her daughter, Vanessa Miles Brewer (Phillip), grandchildren, Kayla and Logan Brewer, sister, Bennie Lou Spann, special friend, Bettie Cole, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Miles, parents and siblings, James Bussey, Sara Hughes, and Barbara Bussey.

A private family service will be held for Mrs. Miles.

Mrs. Anner C. Guyton, age 76, of Vance, formerly of Winfield, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023 in the Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham. Mrs. Guyton was born in Cullman, AL on June 12, 1946 to Hoke and Rodsey Cummings Dunn. She was a member of the Union Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and a 1957 graduate of Bear Creek High School. Anner spent much of her life as a homemaker, caring for her husband and children. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, puzzles, gardening, working in her flowers, cooking, and playing cards, especially Rook.
Mrs. Guyton is survived by her sons, Ray Hosler of Guin, and Keith Guyton (Valerie) of Vance, grandchildren, Phillip, Jessica, and Nicki Hosler, and Noah and Kade Guyton, 5 great-grandchildren, sister, Mary Dunn Kimbrell (Dewayne) of Jasper, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Guyton was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Guyton, son, Kevin Hosler, and a sister Wanda Sue Quimby.
Funeral services for Mrs. Guyton will be held on Monday, April 10th at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Union Chapel Cemetery. Ms. Johnnie C. Lindsey, age 92, of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 in the Sunset Manor Nursing Facility in Guin, Alabama. She was born on July 3, 1930 in Hamilton, Alabama to Elmer Hugh and Ellen Dill Cooper. Johnnie was a 1949 graduate of Hamilton High School and an active member of the Winfield First Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for many years and served on the church bereavement committee. Johnnie was the owner/operator of her own boutique store, “Johnnie’s Modern Ms.” in Winfield for many years. Johnnie was known by her friends and family as a real “firecracker”. She took pride in her vast knowledge of family linage and genealogy; it was often said of Mrs. Lindsey “if you don’t know your family lineage, she did!” In her spare time Johnnie enjoyed working outside, tending to her plants and flowers, and spending time with family and friends.

Ms. Lindsey is survived by her sons, Robin Lindsey and Lyn Lindsey (Courtney), grandchildren, Katheryn Collier, Ashley Lindsey (John Butler), Sean Lindsey, Calla Rose Lindsey, John Cooper Lindsey, and Gracelyn Lindsey, great-grandchildren, Cambria Collier, Ellen Kelly, Emmah Roden, and Link Butler, great-great-grandson, Ezra Kelly, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Ms. Lindsey was preceded in death by her parents, her daughters, Janie Collier, and Terry Lindsey, sons Hank Lindsey and Jerry Lindsey, grandson, Chris Collier, sisters, Marie Ellison, Sue Fowler, and Betty Sibley, and brothers, Lee and JE Cooper.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lindsey will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. The visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. service time. Burial for Ms. Lindsey will follow on Saturday, April 8th in the Bethlehem Cemetery near Hamilton.
