Mr. Robert Bryant Corbett, age 57, of Irondale passed away on Sunday April 7, 2024 at his residence. Mr. Corbett was born on April 5, 1967 to Robert and Jettie Atkinson Corbett. Bryant was a 1985 graduate of Midfield High School and he later attended Wallace State Community College in Livingston. He was employed with UPS for more than 17 years before his retirement. In his spare time Bryant enjoyed fishing, baseball, Alabama football, grilling, spending time with his family, and he loved helping his daughter Maddie’s with softball.

Bryant is survived by his wife, Jenni Fisher Corbett, daughter, Maddie Rose Corbett, stepson, Garrett Hosey, mother, Jettie Corbett, sister, Robin Jackson (Robby), nieces, Halie Stewart (Wayne), and Julianna Cohen (Hunter), great niece, Lily Stewart, and a host of aunts, uncles and other family members and friends.

Bryant was preceded in death by his father, Robert Corbett.

A memorial service for Mr. Corbett will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gloria D. Stovall, age 79 of Winfield passed away on Sunday, April 7. 2024 at her residence. Gloria was born October 31, 1944 to Brody and Addine Miles Rose. She was a member of the Winfield Church of Christ and a 1963 graduate of Winfield City High School. Gloria was employed for many years as a dental assistant for Dr. George Mann and Dr. Max Thomas, as a kindergarten teacher’s aide with Winfield Elementary School, with the Marion County Board of Registrars from 1996 until 2000, and later with her family business, Stovall Contractors until her retirement. Gloria was the second lady to serve on the Winfield City Council, holding her office for 12 years. She was a member of the Modern Culture Club, and the Cosmopolitan Club, and she loved to be involved with all their activities. Gloria was also involved and had active roles with the works of the Marion County Community Actions, Northwest Alabama Kidney Foundation, and the Board of Registrars.

Mrs. Stovall is survived by her husband of 62 years, Roger Stovall, daughter, Amy Stovall Pruitt (Darrin), sons, Alan Stovall, and Kyle Stovall (Angie), grandchildren, Shane Darty, Hillary Smith (Chad), Derek Stovall (Victoria) and Brant Stovall, great-grandchildren, Cailyn, Caralee, Colton, Harper, and Kinsley, and her sister, Barbara Ivie (Butch) host of other family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stovall was preceded in death by granddaughter, Katelyn Stovall, and daughter-in-law, Melissa Stovall.

A Celebration of Life was held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. The family received friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. William Garrison Franks, age 91, of Brilliant passed away on Sunday April 7, 2024 in the Northwest Medical Center. Garrison was born January 21, 1933 to Dewey and Ila Hollis Franks. He was a member of the Freewater Freewill Baptist Church for many years. Garrison was employed with the Winfield Cotton Mill Fruit of the Loom for nearly 40 years before his retirement.

Mr. Franks is survived by his wife of almost 68 years, Sara Jane Franks, son, Randall Franks and his wife Paula, brother Joe Franks, granddaughters, Christian Gillion (John), and Catlin Roberts (Gage), grandson, Allen Franks (Gracie), great-grandsons, Garrett Gillion, and Grayson Franks, great-granddaughters, Harper Gillion, and Addilyn Franks, and a host of other family members and friends.

Mr. Franks was preceded in death by son, Mike Franks, his parents Dewey and Ila Franks, brothers, Woodrow, J.P., and Holly Franks, and sisters, Dena Dickinson, Betty Bostick, and Mary Taylor.

A graveside service for Mr. Franks will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from the Green Springs Cemetery near Pea Ridge.

Miss Melissa Jane Millwood, age 60, of Brilliant passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024 in Jasper, Alabama. Melissa was born May 1, 1963 in Winfield, Alabama to Curtis and Opal Pennington Millwood. Melissa attended Brilliant Church of Christ. She was a 1981 graduate of Carbon Hill High School and attended Brewer Community College from 1982 until 1984. Melissa was employed in the textile industry for 12 years, a caregiver for 20 years, and most recently as a kitchen aide for the Winfield Senior Center Program. In her spare time Melissa enjoyed shopping, going on trips with her cousin Jan, sewing, crafting, going to church, and playing the part of Pickles the Elf with Mrs. Claus, The Grinch and Santa Jamie during the holidays. She especially loved her fur baby kitty cats Curtis and Opal.

Melissa is survived by cousins, Timmy Dozier (Lisa), Jamie Dozier (Becky), Jan Henslee (Terry), and Hugh Dozier (Debbie), and a host of other family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Melissa was preceded in death by her cousin Sheree Roberts and husband Dexter Roberts.

Funeral services for Melissa will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Hubbertville Church of Christ Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Melissa wished to extend her heartfelt thanks and appreciation to her family and their spouses for taking such good care of her during her sickness. Her best friends: Lori Colley, and Rhonda Marquez for cleaning her home, taking care of her cats, bringing food, and helping in so many ways, the Winfield Community Center for their friendship, love and support, and Southeast Hospice of Jasper and their staff members especially Angela Lacy, her childhood friend, and Sonya, and Brittney for the excellent care and support they gave to her and her family.
