Mr. Ollie B. Sayre, age 61 of Winfield passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield. Ollie was born on November 17, 1959 in Cooke County, Illinois, and a 1977 graduate of Winfield City High School. Ollie was a steel welder for many years. He enjoyed making other laugh by telling jokes and easily made friends wherever he went.

Ollie is survived by his daughter, Nicole Moore (Garrett) and two brothers, Jack Sayre (Karen) and Joe Sayre (Kim), nephews, Eric Sayre (Mary Beth), Jase Sayre, Dr. Michael Hamer (Amanda) and Brandon Wates, niece, Jerica Box (Derick), his girlfriend, Pamela Brown, stepbrother, Danny Linley, step niece, Natasha Patterson (Adam), step nephew, Justin Linley and a host of cousins and other relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Ray Sayre, mother, Frances Ann Sayre Linley, stepfather, Charles Linley and a sister, Pamela Ann Sayre.

Funeral services for Ollie will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Mrs. Betty Marie Wates, age 75 of the Gum Thicket Community passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021 at her residence.
Betty was born on August 25, 1946 in Haleyville, AL and a 1966 graduate of Lilbourn High School. Betty was a member of The Shepherd’s Field Church. She worked for many years in the textile industry around the Marion County area. Betty married the love of her life Jerry Wates on August 17, 1968 at New Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. Betty could always light up a room with her smile and laughter.
Betty is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jerry Wates, son, Jared Wates, daughter, Deanna Duckworth (Bobby), granddaughter, Kasey Bass and her fiancé, Kevin Bryant, great grandson, Tyson Bass, sisters, Faye Alford of Bessemer, Shirley Miskell of TN and Pat Kinsey of Lilbourn, MO, brother, Larry Townley of Lilbourn, MO and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosie Blanche Davis Townley, her father, Odell Townley, sisters, Louise Taylor, Inez Crowe, Doris Huff, and her brother, Donald Ray Townley.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wates will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Wates, Dickinson Community Cemetery. Dr. Larry Wates will be the officiating minister. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. service time at the Funeral Home.
Mr. Walter Earnest Stewart better known as Bud, age 79 of Winfield, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 in the Baptist Medical Center South, Montgomery, Alabama.
Mr. Stewart was born on December 27,1941 in Marion County, Alabama to Therman and Katherine Tyra Stewart. Bud was a member of Piney Grove Church of Christ, Bazemore Community, Winfield, Alabama and attended Westside Church of Christ in Vernon, Alabama. He was employed with P & M / North River Mining Company for over 30 years until his retirement. Mr. Stewart was a caring man with a heart of gold, he would visit the sick and help those in need. He enjoyed gardening being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends.
Walter leaves to cherish his memory, his loving devoted wife of 53 years, Alice Thomas Stewart, daughter, Rita Stewart, grandson, Joshua (Emily) Stewart, great grand children, Allie Stewart, Houstyn and Madison Pruett, sisters, Stella Rose (Claude) Thomas and Willie Rose McClinton, brothers, Glover N. Stewart and James E. Stewart, uncle, Raymond Tyra, aunts, Arlene Stewart, Billie Nalls, and Faye Nell Bolin, special friends, Johnny and Amber Robinson and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Tony (Maria) Barnes and children. Walter was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carl Stewart.

Mr. Roger Dale Estes, age 68 of Winfield passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was the owner/operator of Estes Electric, Inc. for 37 years.

Roger is survived by his wife of 50 years, Charlene Orsborn Estes, his daughters, Jenifer Estes Harbison (Matthew), Tiffany Estes Mills (Leon), grandchildren, Elliott Keith Overton, Cameron Dale Harbison, Claire Elizabeth Overton, son-in-law, Keith Overton, sisters, Linda Newman and Donna Smith (James), brothers, Larry Estes, Tim Estes (Sandy), Richard Estes, Charlie Kilgore (Sharon), a host of nieces, nephews and other family and close friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Icie Banks Estes Kilgore.
