Mrs. Ruth Mae Tittle, age 91 of Brilliant passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023 in the Ridgeview Health Care Center in Jasper. Ruth Mae Barnes Tittle was born on July 23, 1931, in Lamar County, Alabama to Jacob Lee Roy Barnes and Ora Mae McKay Barnes. She loved Brilliant and graduated from Brilliant High School in 1950. She married the love of her life, Howard Tittle on January 22, 1952. Ruth and Howard welcomed their son, Charles to the world in October of that year, and their daughter, Teresa, in September of 1959. “Mama Tittle” was the name given to Ruth by her grandchildren, she became “Mama Tittle” to everyone that knew her. When her great granddaughter Lily came along, “Mama Tittle” became “Tittle”.

Ruth was a huge supporter of not only her kids and grandkids, but to all that were involved in their lives. She was active in every aspect of their lives. Ruth loved her family, second only to The Lord. Ruth was a member of the Whitehouse Church of Christ. She would spend countless hours playing dolls, Doctor, and beauty shop with her great granddaughters. She loved her sweets and believed that meals were always better when you ate your desserts with them.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Teresa Smith (James), daughter in law, Jeanette Tittle, granddaughters, Ginger Tittle Eatman (Jason) and Paula Tittle Hatton (Jon), grandson, Wesley Smith (Kali), great granddaughters, Lily Piper Hatton, Saylor Kate Smith, and Oaklyn Tayte Smith, sister, Lounell Cagle, brothers, Eugene Barnes, Wiley Barnes (Maxine), and Sam Barnes (Shelby), a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Howard, her son, Charles, her sisters, Dorothy Elliott, Betty Jo Willett, Joyce Ann Rose, Nelda Sue Barnes, Judy Gulley, and Allean Guin, her brothers, Jessie, James, Floyd, and Boyd.

A celebration of life for Mrs. Tittle will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Bowen Funeral Home, located at 981 State Hwy 253, Winfield, Alabama 35594. Visitation with the family will be at 1:00 p.m., with the celebration of life at 2:00 p.m. There will not be a graveside service. Ruth will be laid to rest at Center Cemetery.   Pallbearers are Wesley Smith, Jon Hatton, Jason Eatman, Chris Barnes, Tim Barnes, Terry Farris, and Ronnie Roberts. Vance Hutton and       Byron Longcrier will deliver the eulogy. Mrs. Louise Hall Flippo, age 86, of Winfield passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023 in the Diversicare Nursing Facility. Mrs. Flippo was born on February 4, 1937 in Calhoun County, AL to Harry and Pauline Martin Hall. Louise was a native of Anniston but resided in Winfield for the past 66 years. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and member of the New Life Fellowship Church. Louise spent much of her life employed with various sewing plants in the area, she also sold Avon products for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, working with flowers, and sewing.

Mrs. Flippo is survived by her daughters, Carrie Ann Tucker, and Marilyn Johnston, brother, Harold Hall, sisters Hazel Martin and Johnnie Hall, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Flippo was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Flippo, daughter, Wanda Flippo, sons, Bob Flippo and Frankie Flippo, and a brother, Kenneth Hall.

Funeral services for Mrs. Flippo will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home. The burial for Mrs. Flippo will be held on Wednesday, April 5th in the Center United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Bobby Gene Marshall, age 84, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, March 29, after an extended illness.

Bob was born in Winfield, Alabama, on January 21, 1939 to Glen and Adell Dickinson Marshall. He was a member of the Winfield Church of Christ and a 1957 Winfield High School graduate.

His first career was in minor league baseball, signing with the San Francisco Giants organization farm team and working his way up to the Fresno, CA club. Returning to Winfield he managed the local Shermans Store, retired from Wal-Mart as assistant manager, and finished his careers at 3-M. He also served in the Alabama National Guard.

Loving the game of baseball and working with young people, Bob was proud of being the first coach in Winfield for Little League baseball, as well as coach for the first girls’ softball league. He also played for Winfield Merchants Softball League and the Independent Baseball League. He was later honored by being inducted in the Marion County Sports Hall of Fame.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jimmie Lou, daughter, Dianne Estes (Bobby Gene) of Winfield, son, Jeff Marshall (Karen) of Alabaster, grandchildren, Jennings Earnest, Barrett Earnest, Kamden Marshall, and Jack Marshall, sister Glenda Vaughn, brother, Bill Marshall, and beloved Marshall and Webster relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Bob will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. Officiating minister will be James Wyers, Winfield Church of Christ.

Mr. Deroy Fowler Jr. better known as “Roy” , age 70, of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 in Diversicare of Winfield. Mr. Fowler was born in Fayette County, AL on August 21, 1952 to Deroy Edward Sr. and Clara South Fowler. Roy attended Hubbertville High School. He spent much of his life employed as a mechanic for McCraw’s Shop in Hubbertville, and later with Best Manufacturing in Fayette. In his spare time Roy enjoyed doing yardwork and going to flea markets and yard sales with his granddaughter.

Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife of 22 years, Paula Cross Fowler, son Jerry Thomas Mackum Jr., and grandchildren, Amiah and Marcus Henry, and Emma, Taylor, and Aubrey Mackum.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Fowler was preceded in death by his daughter, Sarah Jean Nelson, and sisters, Clara Sue Colburn and Nelda Jean Kizzire.

A memorial service for Mr. Fowler will be held at a later date.
