Mr. Davis C. Gilbert, age 73 of Brilliant, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield. Mr. Gilbert was born in Brilliant, AL, and was a member of the Local UMWA. He loved to hunt, fish, but mostly, spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Carl Gilbert and Audie Marie Guin Gilbert, a son, David C. Gilbert, 4 brothers, Wayne, Hilton, Ellis, and Kenneth Gilbert, and a sister Maylene Burleson. He is survived bu his wife, Sibyl Gilbert, a daughter, Judy Price, and son, Ronald (Teresa) Gilbert, all of Brilliant, a daughter in law, Donna Gilbert of Winfield, grandchildren, Valarie (Hayes) Shirley of Winfield, Shawn (Jenna) Gilbert of Brilliant, Allan (Dannah) Gilbert of Winfield, Justin Rawls of Brilliant, Dylan (Kali) Gilbert of Nebraska, Kyle Price of Brilliant, Sara Gilbert of Winfield, Dalaina Gilbert of Winfield, and Brody, Sean, and Anasten Miller of Brilliant, 5 great grandchildren, Bailee Gilbert, Jackson Shirley, Leyah Key, Copelyn Price and Cohen Gilbert, and a sister, Brenda (Jimmy) Vickery of Brilliant. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday from the Bowen Funeral Home chapel with burial to follow in the Goldmine Cemetery. Mrs. Dean Harbin, age 81 of Winfield, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.L. Harbin, her parents, Jesse Jackson and Emma Lynn Jackson, 3 sisters, Lorene, Ruth and Anna, and a brother, Huford Glover. Mrs. Harbin is survived by a son, Clay Harbin of Winfield, a daughter, Carolyn Herron (Joseph) of Maylene, AL, a granddaughter, Jessie Herron, and 2 sisters, Pauline and Christine. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Liberty Cemetery. Mr. Dalton Edward Harris, age 89 of Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Diversicare Healthcare in Winfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Dalton Harris and Evie Lou Tice Harris, and his wife, Lola Dean Spruiell Harris. He is survived by his daughter, Theresa Harris of Winfield, grandsons, Dalton Harris and Joseph Harris of Winfield, a brother, Hugh (Frances) Harris of Montgomery, and a sister, Evelyn (Athel) Harris of Hammond, IN. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 19, 2017 at Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Poplar Log Cemetery near Hamilton. Brother Bill Duncan will officiate. Mrs. Shirley June Wates, age 79 of Winfield, on Riley Harp Road, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Wates was a member of Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church on Hwy 14 in Winfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hollie B. and Allie Ruth Spiller, and her husband, Bobby A. Wates. She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Shirley (Richard), and Sandy Wates, a son, Gary Wates (Sherry), 9 grandchilden, 5 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Jettie Ruth Spiller and Cheryl Ann Seals (Bobby), and a brother, Hollie Wayne Spiller (Linda). Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 15, from the Bowen Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win. Brother Hollie Wayne Spiller will officiate. The visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. (service time) on Monday at the funeral home.
