Mrs. Sonya Rena’ Laird Frost, age 65 of Guin passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022 in the UAB Medical Center in Birmingham. Sonya was born in Jasper, AL on August 28, 1956 to John H. and Nellie Romine Laird. Sonya was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She attended Cordova High School and was a supervisor with NTN-Bower, Corp. and Tullahoma Industries, LLC. for many years.

Sonya is survived by her husband of 21 years, Robert Frost, her mother, Nellie Romine (James Mann), stepsons, Scot Rowland and Gordon Frost (Susan), grandchildren, Carter Rowland, Hill Thomas and their mother, Sonja Rowland, Ashton Frost, Anna Grace Frost, Adam Frost and Noah Frost, her brother, John Allen Laird (Amanda), her niece, Jillian Averhart (Hunter), her nephew, Judson Laird (Jada), and a daughter-in-law, Sonia Frost Pickle and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mia Michelle Headrick, her father, John H. Laird, Jr. and a stepson, Matthew Frost.

Funeral services for Sonya will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Walker Memory Garden in Jasper. Mr. Jeffery Glenn Jackson, age 69, of Winfield, formerly of Louisville, MS, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Jackson was born on March 24, 1952 to James and Ina Mae Jackson in Louisville, MS. He was a 1970 graduate of Louisville High School and a member of the Faith Fellowship Church in Winfield. Mr. Jackson was owner/ partner of Millport Lumber and Manufacturing, LLC. in Millport, AL.

Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife of 37 years, Wanda Higdon Jackson, daughter, Ashleigh Jackson Goodwin (Jason), son, William Higdon Jackson (Christian), granddaughters, Anna Chamblee Goodwin, Leighton Grace Goodwin, and Amelia Rose Jackson, brother, James Benjamin Jackson, Jr. (Helen Marie) and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Benjamin Jackson, Sr., mother, Ina Mae Chamblee Jackson, and a sister, Elsie Jackson Fulgham.

Funeral services for Mr. Jackson will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. from the Faith Fellowship Church in Winfield, AL. Visitation for Mr. Jackson will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. service time at the church. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022 in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Hazlehurst, Mississippi.

Reverend Fredrick “Fred” Wilburn Jones, Jr., age 81 of Winfield passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022 at his residence. Rev. Jones was born in San Diego, CA on December 11, 1940 to Fred W. Jones, Sr. and Margaret Delaney Jones.

He attended high school in Virginia and earned his GED from the USAF Institute. He later earned his B.A. degree from the Freewill Baptist Bible College and the Institute of Applied Science in Chicago, IL. Rev. Jones also attended Rio Grande Bible Institute where he learned the Spanish language. He served as a missionary / pastor for over 50 years, in Mexico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the United States. He pastored many churches during his ministry; including, Portland Freewill Baptist Church in Portland, TN, Waverly Freewill Baptist in Waverly, TN and Freewater Freewill Baptist Church near Guin. Rev. Jones assisted in the development and building of the current Freewater Freewill Baptist Church, and was the founder of the first Freewill Baptist Church in Prattville, AL. He was a missionary to the country of Mexico from 1984-1995 where he founded Bible Institute of the Cross and assisted Mexican Christians in founding and building 3 other churches. From 2001 -2004 he worked in the Cullman area and Northeast AL with many Hispanic ministries. Rev Jones was a United States Navy veteran serving his country from 1958 to 1964.

Rev. Jones is survived by his children, Fred R. Jones, Sr. (Angie) and Tammy L. Jones both of Guin, his grandchildren, Amelia K. Richards (Daniel) of Hamilton and Fred R. Jones, Jr. (Jennifer) of MS, great grandchildren, Easton and Eriat Jones, Jensen Richards and Jameson Richards (on the way), and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Barbara L. Jones, children, Jody Jones and Joey Jones, his parents, Fred and Margaret Jones, sisters, Mary, Peggy, Delorus and Patsy Jones, in-laws, Robert and Nancy Watson.

A celebration of life service for Rev. Jones will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Winfield Freewill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery near Twin. The visitation will be held Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the church. Bowen Funeral Home serving the Jones family.

Mr. James Houston Webster, age 83 of Jasper, passed away at his residence on January 6, 2022. Mr. Webster was born on June 21, 1938, to Hollis and Jimmie Lou Webster in Fayette County, Alabama, and was a member of the Church of Christ. James was a 1956 graduate of Hubbertville High School and a 1960 graduate of the University of Alabama, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.

Right after college, James was hired by 3M Company as one of the first two employees at its new chemical plant in Decatur, Alabama. During his 41-year career at 3M, he worked his way up to plant manager in Decatur; Antwerp, Belgium; and St. Paul, Minnesota.

He is survived by his sons, James M. Webster and William H. Webster (Kimberly), his daughters, Susan H. Goertz (Ronald “Buddy”) and Karen H. Hilbun; his grandchildren, Grayson Webster (Cara), Katherine Webster, Britton Webster, Caroline Webster, Benjamin Goertz (Lisa), Amy Paul (Joshua), Caleb Goertz, Jacob Goertz, and Lily Hilbun; his great grandchildren, Theodore, Eleanor, Ember, Saylor, Cora, and Zeppelin; his sisters, Wanda Webster Wakefield and Gail Webster Harris; nephews, Todd Wakefield (Cindy) and Brett Wakefield (Kim); great nieces, Kendall Wakefield and Jace Wakefield; a great nephew, Keller Wakefield, and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol McCaleb Webster, his second wife, Elaine Avery Webster, and his parents, James Hollis Webster and Jimmie Lou Haney Webster Marcum.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel, with services immediately following. Burial will take place at Berea Church of Christ in the Hubbertville community. Buddy Bell, minister of the Landmark Church of Christ in Montgomery, will officiate.
