Mr. Deroy Fowler Jr. better known as “Roy” , age 70, of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 in Diversicare of Winfield. Mr. Fowler was born in Fayette County, AL on August 21, 1952 to Deroy Edward Sr. and Clara South Fowler. Roy attended Hubbertville High School. He spent much of his life employed as a mechanic for McCraw’s Shop in Hubbertville, and later with Best Manufacturing in Fayette. In his spare time Roy enjoyed doing yardwork and going to flea markets and yard sales with his granddaughter.

Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife of 22 years, Paula Cross Fowler, son Jerry Thomas Mackum Jr., and grandchildren, Amiah and Marcus Henry, and Emma, Taylor, and Aubrey Mackum.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Fowler was preceded in death by his daughter, Sarah Jean Nelson, and sisters, Clara Sue Colburn and Nelda Jean Kizzire.

A memorial service for Mr. Fowler will be held at a later date.

Mr. David Scott Eads, age 70 of Navarre, FL formerly of Winfield passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023. Funeral services for Mr. Eads will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Union Chapel Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Larry Randall Townley, age 72, of Winfield passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023 in the Northwest Medical Center. Mr. Townley was born in Marion County, Alabama on May 29, 1950 to Jack and Ella Colburn Townley. Mr. Townley was a member of the Brilliant Church of Christ. He spent much of his life self-employed as a building contractor. In his spare time Larry enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors.

Mr. Townley is survived by his son, Randall Dale Townley (Crystal), daughter, Sonya Campbell (Sam), grandchildren, Zac Townley (Clara), Madison Townley, and Jacob Cotton (Lydia), great-granddaughter Kinley Townley, brother, Don Townley (Lisa), sister, Gloria Miles, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Townley was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Whitney Cotton, infant sister, Judy Townley, and a brother, Eddie Townley.

A private family service for Mr. Townley was held on Monday, March 20, 2023 from the Fairview Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Catherine Roberts Cochran, better known as Cathy, age 90, of Guin passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 in the Brookwood Medical Center. Mrs. Cochran was born in Mississippi on February 15, 1933 to Sam and Willie Moses Rogers. Cathy spent much of her life as a homemaker taking care of her family. In her spare time Cathy enjoyed sewing, quilting, working in her flower garden and fishing with her husband. Mrs. Cochran also loved traveling especially going to the mountains and visiting casinos.

Mrs. Cochran is survived by her daughter, Janie Ray, grandchildren, Tommy Nix Jr. (Sissy), Terry Nix (Dusty), Donald Kilgore (Christy), Dale Kilgore (Lisa), David Kilgore (Teresa), Cathy Westbrook, Melissa Hollingsworth (Josh), and Megan Dodd (Jason), 16 great-grandchildren, 16 great great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Mrs. Cochran was preceded in death by husbands, Arnold Roberts and John Cochran, daughter, Merline Nix, her parents, brothers, Melvin and Marvin Rogers, and sons-in-law, Roger Ray and Tommy Nix Sr.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cochran will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 12:00 noon from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the funeral home.
