Mrs. Dorothy Robbins Reagh better known as Dot, traded in her time here for her Heavenly Home on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. Dot was born in Winfield, Alabama on to Robert L., Sr. and Wanda Berryhill Robbins. Dot was a graduate and cheerleader at Winfield City High School. After graduation she relocated to Birmingham to work for Republic Steele and later the Social Security Administration; Dot enjoyed her work and was proud to serve her country and our people. From the mid-forties, she was a member of Central Church of Christ and later Riverchase Church of Christ. Mrs. Reagh loved her family and enjoyed antiquing and traveling, especially to the beaches of Alabama and Florida. She was a strong and determined woman, though partially deaf since her twenties, and totally deaf later in life and for many years, she maintained her independence.
She is survived by her nephews, David Wood, Edward “Sandy” Craig, Jim Raines, Russell Robbins, Rick Robbins, Randy Robbins, her nieces, Lynda R. Ott, Wanda Jo Greathouse, Marcia R. Thomas, Kim R. Josephson, and a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews, church family and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Reagh, sisters, Kathryn Robbins Wood and her husband Leslie, and Melba Robbins Raines and her husband James, brothers, Robert L. Robbins, Jr. and Richard R. Robbins and a niece, Sandra Raines Earnest and her husband Jim.
The visitation for Mrs. Reagh will be held on Saturday, February 18th from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 11:00 a.m. from the Winfield City Cemetery in Winfield, Alabama.

Mr. Larry Dwayne Vance, age 67 of Guin, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 in the DCH Regional Medical Center. Mr. Vance was born in Indiana on December 12, 1955 to Delmar Vance and Christine Williams Flynn. Mr. Vance was a veteran of the United States Army and Army National Guard. Larry was employed as a truck driver with KSF Trucking for over 20 years. In his spare time Larry enjoyed spending time fishing with his grandson, hunting, watching Alabama Football and NASCAR on tv.

Mr. Vance is survived by his wife of 48 years, Anita Vance, son Jeremy Vance (Cindy) of Bankston, grandson, Brady Vance, sister, Debbie Reese (Don) of Sulligent, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Mr. Vance was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Jeff Vance.

Funeral services for Mr. Vance will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with military honors being presented with burial to follow in the Dickinson, Wates Family Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Truman C. Herren, age 81, of the Whites Chapel Community passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and family on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at his residence. Truman was born in Fayette County, Alabama on January 24, 1942 to Truman C. Sr. and Sally Sherer Herren. He attended Hubbertville School until 1958 when his family moved to Hueytown where he graduated in 1960 from Hueytown High School. Truman briefly attended the University of Alabama before joining the United States Army where he served as Chief Warrant Officer and helicopter pilot. He was later employed with the Hueytown Police Force where he served as a police officer for 15 years. He then joined the United Stated National Guard where he served many years. In his spare time, Truman enjoyed reading, keeping up with current events, farming and Alabama Football.
Mr. Herren is survived by his wife Frances Herren, children, Michael Herren (Carol), Jason Herren (Lisa), and Alison Townsend (Heath), stepchildren, Keith McDonald (Lisa), Stanley McDonald (Tina), and Amanda Tranum (Jeff Tidwell), thirteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, brother, William E. Herren (Patricia), sister, Joan Herren Armstrong (Joe), and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Mr. Herren was preceded in death by his parents, and a stepdaughter, Wendy Tucker.
A memorial service for Mr. Herren will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Whites Chapel Church of Christ. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the church.

Ms. Verta Dellaree Box, age 96, of Winfield passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 in the Sunset Manor Nursing Facility in Guin. Ms. Box was born July 23, 1926 in Eldridge, AL to Lester and Lula Bell Hamilton Box. Verta lived her whole life in Eldridge and a longtime member of Popular Springs Primitive Baptist Church. Ms. Box never had children of her own; she was always considered a second mother to all of her extended family. Ms. Box spent much of her life as a seamstress, she enjoyed making quilts for her family and the public.
Ms. Box is survived by her brothers, C.W. Box of Winfield and Clyde Box and his wife Linda of Moody, a sister-in-law, Beulah Dean Box of Northport, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Ms. Box was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Cleatus,
Cleburn, and Clovis Box, sisters, Verla Wright, Verna McDonald, and Vaudene Miles, sisters-in-law, Kate Box, Betsy Box, and Cat Box, brothers-in-law, Aaron Wright, J.C. McDonald, and J.L. Miles.
