Mr. Charles Dan Mullins, age 84, of Brilliant passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025 at his residence. Mr. Mullins was born on May 6, 1941 in Haleyville, Alabama to Charles and Ila Beauchamp Mullins. He was a member of Goldmine Church of Christ and a 1958 graduate of Brilliant High School. Dan spent his career as a dedicated and successful business owner in the coal industry. Outside of work, Dan enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid NASCAR and Alabama football fan and loved watching westerns. Above all, he took pride in working hard and staying busy.

Mr. Mullins is survived by his wife of 37 years, Martha Mullins, his son, Chuck Mullins (Tina), his daughter, Dana Anderson (Ronny), stepson, Rodney Guthrie (Jade), grandchildren, Drew Mullins,(Lisa Ann), Ben Mullins (Loreanna), Milah Luster (Eric), Madeline Foster (Noah), and William Guthrie, great grandchildren, Charlotte Ray Mullins, Jameson Winn Mullins, Nhyomi Luster, and Nehlani Luster, and a host of other family members and friends.

Mr. Mullins was preceded in death by his parents, and a stepson, Greg Guthrie.

A graveside service for Mr. Mullins will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. from the Goldmine Church of Christ Cemetery.

Mrs. Cathy Mae Burleson, age 65, of Guin passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on June 5, 1960, in Guin, Alabama to James and Judy Collins Smith, and was a lifelong member of the community. Cathy attended Marion County High School and was a devoted member of Mt. Willing Freewill Baptist Church. She spent much of her career working in local textile plants and later served as a CNA with Sunset Manor Nursing Facility and Northwest Medical Center until her retirement. Cathy loved spending time outdoors, especially gardening and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time at the lake.

Mrs. Burleson is survived by her husband of 46 years, James Burleson, her daughter, Amanda Dunavant (Daniel), her son, Cory Burleson, grandchildren, Leah Dunavant and fiancé Alex Barnes, and Heath Dunavant, siblings, Stony Smith (Sandra), Casey Smith (Teresa), and Randy Smith (Kim), and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Mrs. Burleson was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Taylor Carlton.

Funeral services for Mrs. Burleson will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 12:00 noon from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Goldmine Church of Christ cemetery. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Fay Williams, age 85, of Guin, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at her daughter’s residence. Fay was born on July 9, 1939 in Hamilton, Alabama to Elvin and Mattie Pratt Nelson. Shortly after her birth, her family relocated to Michigan for her father’s work. At the age of 6, they returned to Marion County where Fay grew up. At the age of 17 Fay married her children’s father Leonard Channell. Together, they moved to Illinois for better opportunities. During their time there, they welcomed 2 sons. Realizing the importance of raising their children in the South, they returned to Marion County, where they raised their family. Fay was a faithful member of Concord Church of God as long as her health allowed. She dedicated 25 years of her life to the textile industry, working in various plants throughout the area until her retirement. Fay was a kind and loving mother and grandmother, always there to offer unwavering support and love to her family.

Mrs. Williams is survived by her 3 sons, Billy Channell, Roger Channell (Joann), and Frankie Channell (Amanda), her daughter, Norma Hill (Tim), 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Brian Williams, grandson, Bryan Allan Garza, great grandson, Stephen Andreu Ray, brother, Alvin “Butch” Nelson two infant sisters and one infant brother.

Funeral services for Mrs. Williams will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd at 11 a.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Liberty Freewill Baptist Church cemetery near Pea Ridge.   The visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Elizabeth Registos Solomon better known as Liza, age 57, of Winfield, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2025, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Liza was born on January 3, 1968, in Bansalan, Davao del Sur, Philippines. She was a woman of deep faith, unwavering devotion to family, and quiet strength. A proud member of the Filipino American community, Liza was known for her warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 20 years, Wylie Rogers “Roger” Solomon, her devoted mother, Ester Echavia Registos, of Davao del Sur, Philippines her cherished stepchildren, Tammy Solomon Layton of Gulfport, Mississippi, Cindy Solomon Foster (Chris) of Alabaster, and Shane Solomon (Kristin) of Birmingham, step-grandchildren, Amber Self (Jerry), Dillon Layton (Leah), Blake Huynh (Aubrey), Courtney Canada (PJ), Bennett Solomon, Noah Solomon, Sam Solomon, and Wylie Solomon, as well as many great-grandchildren, her siblings, Lilia Aguirre, Marivia Andes, Nildo, Merla, Roger, Edgar, Erwin, Richard, Lingster, Liezl and Allan Registos and a host of nieces and nephews in the Philippines. She held a special bond with her sister, Lingster Silva, and her niece, Alyzsa Registos, who lovingly cared for her during her illness.
She was preceded in death by her father, Aquilino Registos.
Liza formerly worked as a caregiver—a reflection of her nurturing and selfless nature. A devout Catholic, she was a beloved cantor at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Winfield, where her voice and faith touched many. She was deeply committed to her family, always putting others first. She was also an avid gardener and a loving pet owner.
Liza’s kindness and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A Funeral Mass for Liza will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. from the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Winfield with burial to follow in Winfield City Cemetery the visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. service time at the church.
