Mr. Daniel Thomas Treas, age 83 of Brilliant, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Treas, stepson, Jeffery Corkren, his parents, Virgil Lex Treas and Hazel Mildred Cunningham Treas, one brother and one sister. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Jada Tittle (Mike) of Dogtown, stepson, Al Corkren (Stephanie) of Brilliant, grandchildren, Brandon Samuals (Amber) of Dogtown, Cody Corkren (Amber) of Brilliant, Ethan Corkren (Brooke) of Brilliant, Monica and Chelsea Corkren of Mobile, twelve great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
A private family graveside service will be held at Brilliant Memorial Garden. Bowen Funeral Home serving the Treas family.
Mr. Harold Dean Pendley, age 70 of Winfield, formerly of Fayette County, AL, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at his residence.
Mr. Pendley was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Winfield, he served as a Eucharistic Minister and a Lector of the church. He attended high school in Oakman, AL, and earned his GED while serving in the United States Navy. After serving two tours in Vietnam and his discharge from the Navy, Harold went to work for Loomis Armored Car and began his police career at Oceanside Police Department. He enlisted into the Army National Guard and retired as Sergeant (E5) in June of 2009. Mr. Pendley worked for 38 years in law enforcement, serving Fayette County as Chief Deputy, the City of Brilliant as Chief of Police, and Marion County as Lieutenant and Jail Administrator.
Mr. Pendley was preceded in death by his parents, Virtus Pendley and Margaret Gertrude Earnest Pendley Liss.
Harold is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Deborah Pendley, two sons, William “Bill” Pendley (Brandy) and Jimmy Pendley (Vickie), grandchildren, Courtney Gentry (Sybil), Kayla Pendley, Gunter Pendley, Brody Pendley, Lauren Pendley, Regan Pendley, Jackson Reese, Callyn Pendley, great grandchildren, Carson Gentry, Sadie Gentry, a sister, Diane Yeaglin (Ken) of AZ, and a host of other family, friends and his law enforcement family.
Funeral service for Mr. Pendley will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020 from the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Winfield with burial to follow in the Gibson Hill Cemetery in Walker Co. Father Anthony Weis will officiate the service. The visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. Ms. Martha Rose Howell, age 62 of Winfield formerly of Fayette, passed away at her residence. Martha was a 1975 Winfield City High School graduate and a Registered Nurse.
Ms. Howell is survived by her sons, Noah Howell (Sara) of Gulf Breeze, FL and Jonah Howell (Lisa) of Winfield, her mother, Faye Howell of Winfield, sister, Rebecca McEachern (Robert) of Fayette and a brother, John Mark Howell (Jeannie) of WA. She was preceded in death by her father, Bryan K. Howell.

Ernestine Spiller Shirley Wood, age 95 of Brandon Florida, formerly of Brilliant, Alabama passed away on May 27, 2020, peacefully at her residence in Florida.
Mrs. Wood was a member of Mount Calvary Freewill Baptist Church in Winfield for many years where she played the piano and dedicated her talent to the Lord. She was an elogant woman with a heart of gold and a devout Christian that loved her family and her church. Ernestine was born on September 28, 1924 to Jeffrey and Rebecca Spiller. She loved playing the piano, planting flowers in her garden, and interior decorating. She was a multiple clothing store manager and decorator in her early years in Chicago. While in Chicago, she was fortunate to dress the famous actor “Cesar Romero”. Later she became an interior decorator in Mobile, Alabama. All of her beautiful talents and work were always expressed from stores to people’s homes.
Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her parents, Jeffrey and Rebecca Spiller, sister, Ozelia Harris, an infant sister, Jewel Spiller, brothers, R.D Spiller, Ralph Spiller, Ray Spiller, Earl Spiller, and Carl Spiller, husbands, James Alton Shirley and O’Dell Wood, and her son Tony Shirley .
She is survived by two Granddaughters, Gina Shirley and Cassie Wilson (Stephen), four great grandchildren; Christopher White (Jennifer) , Kimberly Brown(James), Shawn Robbins, and Miranda Castillo, and five great great grandchildren, Alexandria White, Brandon White, Leila White, James (Jimmy) Brown, Jr. and Tatumn Brown, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Ernestine rightfully earned her title as “Grandmother” from all of her grandchildren. She was the rock of her family, and a true warrior. Ernestine survived many dark times and obtacles in her life time but still remained a strong, christian lady throughout it all. She is truly loved by her family and will be missed forever.
A private family burial for Mrs. Wood will be held at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Bowen Funeral Home serving the Wood family.
