Mrs. Nellie Sue Baccus Lenahan, age 77, of Winfield passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at her residence. Mrs. Lenahan was born in Winfield, Alabama on February 4, 1947 to Lander and Edna Atkins Baccus before moving to Chicago, Illinois in the 8th grade. Nellie was a 1965 graduate of Steinmetz High School. She was employed as a dental assistant in Chicago until her return to Alabama in 1969. After returning to Alabama Nellie was employed with Sears Service Center in Winfield and later with Perry Kelly in Fayette selling appliances and parts. She also did the bookkeeping for her husband’s trucking company and cared for her parents after the decline of her health. Nellie became a homemaker after the birth of her son and was very active in his school’s PTA and served as den mother for his Cub Scout troop. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, antiquing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Lenahan is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jerry Lenahan, son, Jeff Lenahan (Shrea), grandchildren, Jonathan Lenahan, Daniel Lenahan, Makaylee Carr (Matt), and Marlee Robins (Daniel), great grandchildren, Mattie Jo Carr, Harvey Robins, and Delia Ann Robins, sister, Annie Cartwright (Ken), and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lenahan was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, Raymond, Bobby, and Leroy Baccus.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lenahan will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Jackson Hayes McDonald, better known as Hayes age 70 of Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Funeral services for Hayes will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chaple with burial to follow in the Mt. Hope Cemtery near Hamilton. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Betty Lou Hallmark Hollingsworth, age 87, of Eldridge, Alabama in the Hubbertville community passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at her residence. She was born in Fayette County, Alabama on February 23, 1937 to William Taft “Buster” and Mary Lou Propst Hallmark. She was a member of New River Baptist Church in Eldridge and a graduate of Hubbertville High School. Betty Lou was a bus driver with Hubbertville School for 35 years until her retirement. She also worked as a secretary for Huie Hollingsworth Construction. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing housework and working on the farm. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hollingsworth is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Tidwell and Vicki O’Mary (Greg) of Eldridge, grandchildren, Heather Walker (Seth), Heath Tidwell (Brittney), and Chase O’Mary (Stephanie), great grandchildren, Anna-Sophia and Everly-Hue Walker, Sam, Ellie, and Maggie Tidwell, Cullen, Charlie and Claudia O’Mary, special sister-in-law, Rosa Lee Haley, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Mrs. Hollingsworth was preceded in death by her husband, Huie Travis Hollingsworth, her parents, William Taft “Buster” and Mary Lou Hallmark, siblings, William Kenneth Hallmark, James Douglas Hallmark, and Ted Allen Hallmark, and son-in-law, J.L. “Derm” Tidwell.

Funeral service for Betty Lou will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Old Brand Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. James Bryan “Bruno” Evans, age 66 of Brilliant passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024 in the DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Mr. Evans was born in Fort Brag, NC on October 28, 1957 to Guy Evans, Jr. and Chesteen Evans McCollum. He was a 1976 graduate of Winfield City High School and a member of the Mount Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church. Bryan was employed for many years with multiple mobile home companies in the surrounding areas; including an integral role with the startup of Deer Valley in Guin, AL. He enjoyed reading his Bible, carpentry, watching westerns, wagon and horse riding, cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide, and spending time with his family.

Bryan is survived by his mother, Chesteen Fredrick McCollum, children, Wallace Evans (Jennifer), Anthony Evans (Michelle), and Emily Williams (Casey), grandchildren, Michael, Marcus, William and MiKayla Evans and Bryden and Connor Williams, two great grandchildren, siblings, Kerry Evans and Lora Harris (Mike). He was preceded in death by his father, Guy B. Evans, Jr., stepfather, Dallas McCollum, grandparents, Guy B. Evans, Sr., and Mamie Evans, Geneva Fredrick and Red Fredrick.

Funeral services for Mr. Evans will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
