Mrs. Judy Lynne Wellberg, age 78 of Winfield, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022 in the Grandview Medical Center. A memorial service for Mrs. Wellberg will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Eastside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the church. Mrs. Carrie Lou Gilbert, age 84, of Winfield passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022 in the Fayette Medical Center. Mrs. Gilbert was born on July 30, 1938 in Fayette County, AL to Denvier Elon and Velma Housh Trimm. Carrie was a member of the Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Gilbert was a 1956 graduate of Winfield City High School. She later attended Bevill State Community College where she earned her degree as a Laboratory Technician. Mrs. Gilbert later became the owner of Gilbert Utilities Company where she spent many years.

Mrs. Gilbert is survived by her son, Tim Gilbert (Rita) of Florence, daughters, Susan Gilbert of Winfield, Janice Gilbert of Arab, and Tina Galloway of Fayette, grandchildren, Zack Gilbert (Stephanie), Dee Aldridge (Dennis), Brooke Pollard Bunn, Hunter Randall (Caitlin), Sabrina Blackburn (John), Cricket Fortner (Casey), Crystal Gilreath (Chad), and Cal Simmons, 15 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gilbert was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Carl Gilbert, and sister, Charlean Hocutt.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gilbert will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Old Union Cemetery. The Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Roger Dale Davis age 67, of Winfield passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at his residence. Mr. Davis was born in Georgia on February 4, 1955 to Charles Edford and Darris Jean Ferrell Davis. Roger was a member of the Guin Freewill Baptist Church and attended Brooksville High School in Brooksville, FL. He spent much of his life employed as a lineman for TV and cable companies. Mr. Davis served in the United States National Guard for 11 years, and as a Volunteer Fire Fighter for the Winfield Fire Department for many years. In his spare time Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, dirt track racing, mudding, and spending time with his family.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donna Gann Davis, daughter, Brandy Avery (Joshua), son, Ronnie Dale Davis (Valerie), grandchildren, Asia Lynn Hoyt, Jacob Cole Avery, Ryleigh Grace Avery, Kobe Tanner McKay, Sophia Jane Davis, Quinlan Taylor Hyatt, Samuel Ryan Hyatt, and Bobby Thorin Hyatt, sister, Cynthia Darlene Calvert, brothers, Bobby Ray Davis (Jerrie), and Rickey Lee Davis (Judy), and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Brenton Allen Goodson, and brothers, Charles Randall, and Raymond Timothy Davis.

A memorial service for Mr. Davis will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. from the Guin Freewill Baptist Church.

Mr. Donald T. “Don” Studdard, age 88 of Winfield passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at his residence.  Mr. Studdard was born on April 25, 1934 in Howard, Alabama in Fayette County to David Ottis and Essie Sawyer Studdard.

Don was a member of the Winfield First Baptist Church a graduate of Walker High School and Walker College. He started his career at the Alabama Power Company with Gorgas Coal Mines before moving to Winfield in 1962.   After relocating to Winfield, he began his career with Continental Conveyor & Equipment Company in production control and sales, he retired as Vice President of the mobile home product division after 37 years. Mr. Studdard was very active in his community serving in various municipal and civic organizations. He worked tirelessly with developing and improving the city of Winfield, such as the Winfield City Park, now known as Ivan K. Hill Park, where he served as board president for ten years. He was a founding member and Vice President of the Winfield Touchdown Club. Don served on the Winfield City Council, during which time he helped the city with the sale of the hospital to Carraway Methodist Hospital. Don was also instrumental in bringing King Kutter Inc. to Winfield. He was a member of the Winfield Arts Council and served on the board of the Winfield Pastime Theater. He was currently serving as President of the Winfield Main Street Program. Don oversaw the renovation of the old Hollis Pharmacy building, which is now the Pastime Civic Center, and the improvements to the Winfield Antique Mall. He was involved with the development of “The Patio” in downtown Winfield, a perfect place for lunch with friends when the weather is fitting. It was at The Patio where he designed various colorful business facades, including the naming and facing of Chef Foo Linn Yoo. Dons latest work is almost complete, his aspiration of having a museum to house Winfield area memorabilia. Mr. Studdard was an avid golfer, he served as President of Pikeville Country Club for two years, he spent tireless hours making the club better for everyone to enjoy, still today stands trees he planted and blue bird houses he erected all around the golf course. Don was a true humanitarian and philanthropist. He was well-known for his creativity, generosity, and his willingness to help others. He was a loving husband, loyal father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who loved his Lord, family, city, community, the outdoors, and fishing, and life in general.

Mr. Studdard is survived by his children, Mark Studdard and his wife Janet, Susan Studdard Kennedy, Jackie McCaleb his wife, Lynn, Bobby McCaleb his wife, Renee and Christianna Kean her husband, Warren, grandchildren, Molly White, Chandler White, Caroline White, Beau Studdard (Beth), Bart Studdard (Michelle), Sara Jones (Jonathan), Katy Dunaway, Brook McCaleb (Alexis), Taylor McCaleb, Mary Margaret Hill (Geoff), Mills Mosley, Frances Mosley, Levitt Mosley, Brook McCaleb (Alexis), Taylor McCaleb, Miller Studdard, Brody Studdard, Peyton Studdard, Kolt Rainey, Lyla Jane Jones, Alidia Dishman, Rusty Dunaway and Grace Dunaway, Gabby Banks Hill and Ouincy McCaleb. In addition to her parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wives, Faye Ivey Studdard and Diane Mills Studdard, a daughter, Yodonna White and a grandson, Adam Peiffer.

A graveside service for Mr. Studdard was held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. from the Winfield City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to, Winfield Main Street or Pastime Theater P. O. Box 766 Winfield, AL 35594 in memory of Don.
