Mr. Tommy Gene Corkren, age 62, of Brilliant passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at his residence.  Tommy Gene is a 1973 graduate of Brilliant High School.  He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. & Mrs. Harold Gene and Mary Uwanna Burleson Corkren, a wife, Lisa Gilliam Corkren and brother, Danny Michael Corkren.   Tommy Gene is survived by his wife, Debra Corkren of Brilliant, children, Miranda Rae Corkren of Brilliant, Dusty (Mandy) Snipes of Moody, Angela Kendrick of Brilliant, Dale (Dana) Bell of Brilliant and Misty Gilliam (Shane) Hughes of Winfield.  5 grandchildren, Monica Kendrick, Christian Snipes, Skylon Snipes, Jack Bell, Karter Bell, sisters, Judy (Danny) Burnett of Winfield and Sofina (David) Crosby of Sulligent, and brother, Terry Wayne Corkren of Brilliant.  Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens.  Jerry Self and Greg Webb will be officiating ministers.  Visitation will be Friday, November 25, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mable Ellen Weeks, age 82, of Winfield, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at her residence.  Mrs. Weeks was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church for many years.  She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Mr. James R. Weeks, her parents Guy & Ruby Barnes, brothers, Leon “Jr.” and Charles Barns, sisters, Shirley Markham and Judy Marcum.  She is survived by her children, Steve (Janet) Weeks, Diane (Wayne) Prescott, Donna Martin, Sandy (Max) Ary, Kathy (Benny) Garrison and Tim (Tina) Weeks, 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, brother, Jimmy (Nancy) Barnes and sisters, Pat (Dale) Ridgeway, Wanda(David) Loveless, Debbie (Jody) Dodd, Shelia Files, Susan (Larry) Harkness and Elizabeth (Larry) Rogers.   Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 24, 2017 at Eastside Baptist Church.  Visitation will be Thursday, November 23, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bowen Funeral Home.    Bro. Jerry Cantrell, age 74, of Winfield, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017 at his residence.  Jerry was employed with UPS for over 30 years.  He loved his family, friends, fishing, and spending time in the outdoors.  Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Franklin Cantrell and Lillie Idella Jeffreys Cantrell, sisters, Melba Cantrell Allen, Johnnie Cantrell Thompson, and Elaine Cantrell Dale, brothers Dwayne Cantrell, Alvin Cantrell, and Billy Joe Cantrell.  He is survived by his wife, Lou Ann Cantrell, a son, Jason (Tina) Cantrell of Baton Rouge, a daughter, Janet Cantrell of Winfield, grandchildren, Lauren Cantrell, Jordan Cantrell, Brooke Cantrell, and Dillon Lott, and a brother, Dean Cantrell of Detroit, AL. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Cooper Cemetery near Hamilton.  Visitation will be Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home.  Venlon Bradford and Cameron Jungles will officiate.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Cantrell family.  

Hayden Zant Spiller, age 18 of Winfield, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at his residence. 

Hayden is a 2017 Winfield City High School graduate. He was a member of the Winfield football and basketball teams. 

He is survived by his parents, father, Ricky (Tina) Spiller of Winfield, mother Amy (Lance) Leduke of Winfield, grandparents Randall and Janice Vickery of Brilliant, Dean and Ann Dodd of Winfield, and Ann McBrayer of Winfield, sisters Kecia (Aaron) Evans of Homewood, Presley Guin of Winfield, Jennifer (Justin) Lacy of Winfield, and Cassie (Garrett) Tucker of Winfield, uncles Shane (Mercedi) McBrayer of Winfield and Cury (Kim) Vickery of Irondale, niece Kennah Beth Lacy of Winfield, and nephews Karter Lacy and Avery Tucker of Winfield, cousins Haydn and Harley McBrayer of Winfield.   

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Larry Spiller and Hubert Lymon McBrayer, his great grandparents, and a host of uncles and aunts. 

Visitation will be on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. 

Funeral services are planned for Friday at 2:00 pm from First Baptist Church of Winfield.
