Mr. Bobby WoodMr. Robert M. "Bobby" Wood, age 70 of Brilliant, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at BMC Princeton hospital in Birmingham. Bobby was a 1964 graduate of Brilliant High School and a member of Brilliant United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Geraldine Holcomb Wood, and a sister, Linda Smith.  He is survived by 5 sons, Robert Wood (Loretta) of Dora, Michael Wood (Kelly) of Pinson, Jay Wood (Denyne) of Brilliant, Shannon Wood (Kara) of Woodridge, IL, and Shaun Wood (Samantha) of Aurora, IL, grandchildren, Crystal Wilson, Camille Mapes, Nicholas Wood, Latashia Wood, Dustin Wood, Taylor Wood, Silas Wood, and Stella Wood, great grandchildren, Bryce Wilson, Caroline Mapes and Harrison Wilson, a brother, Jerry Wood (Marilyn) of Brilliant and a sister, Glenda Kay Masters (Mike) of Winfield, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from the Brilliant United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. (service time) on Saturday at Brilliant United Methodist Church. In Lieu of Flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Brilliant Lions Club.

Mrs. Ruth FieldsMrs. Ruth Estelle Hosch Fields, age 73 of Winfield, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Fayette Longterm Care Center in Fayette. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford Earnest "Cliff" Hosch and Estelle Traweek Hosch, husband, David Fields, and a brother, Earnie Hosch. Mrs. Fields is survived by her daughter, Denisa Lawler (Ronny), a sister, Imojean Roberts, granddaughter, Leslie Rhudy (Jason), great grandchildren, Mason Miller, Jaxon Rhudy, Addy Rhudy, and Anna Mark Rhudy,  nephews, Jason Hosch, Javen Housch, and Johnny Mack Roberts, and nieces, Jeana Estes (Tim), and Kathy Roberts. 

A private graveside service will be held for Mrs. Fields at Zion Missionary Baptist Cemetery.

Mr. Gene AldridgeMr. Gene Aldridge, age 84 of Winfield, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Northwest Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 60 years, Betty Aldridge, parents E.C. Aldridge and Martha Bell Harper Aldridge, two sisters, Eunice Harbin and Etha Smith, and three brothers, Ezel Aldridge, Odie Aldridge, and Leethel Aldridge. He is survived by his children Jessica Garner (James), Anthony Aldridge (Carla), of Winfield, Jennifer Smith (Ken) of Guin, and Scott Aldridge (Kim) of Winfield, grandchildren, Emily Tittle (Rodney) of Winfield, Kallie Woodley (David) of Winfield, Kimberly Cowart (Walker “Sparky”) of Northport, Brennan and Savannah Smith of Guin, Will and Ty Aldridge of Winfield, great grandchildren, Emma Kate Tittle and Lane Woodley of Winfield, a brother in law, Tim Franks (Donna) of Lake Charles, LA and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.  

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, March 10, 2017 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. Ken Smith and James Garner will officate. Visitation will be held on from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm (service time) on Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Billy B. SelfMr. Billy B. Self, age 84 of Brilliant, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.

Billy was a member of the Goldmine Church of Christ, a U.S. Army Veteran, and a 1951 graduate of Brilliant High School. He was owner/operator of Self Grocery in Brilliant for many years, and loved his duty as a bus driver for the Brilliant School System.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Elton and Lottie Farris Self, a wife, Mary Self, and a son, Dewayne Self, and a brother , James Curtis Self. He is survived by his wife, Willie Helen Self, a brother, Jacky (Levonnie) Self of Brilliant, a sister, Virginia Mullenix of Graysville, step children, Ava Franks of North Carolina, Hilda Leonard (Dan) of Brilliant, Renee Seals of McCalla, Kelly Kitchens (Herman) of Auburn, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens. Jerry Self and Drew Manley officiating. The visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon (service time) on Wednesday at the funeral home.
