Mr. Harold Ray Howell, age 81 of Winfield, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020 in the Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham. Harold was born on July 5, 1938 to Charles Howell and Exie Hollingsworth Howell. Mr. Howell was a member of the White’s Chapel Church of Christ and served in the United States Army from 1961-1963.

Mr. Howell is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sue McDonald Howell, sons, Jimmy Howell (Margie) and Terry Howell both of Winfield and a grandson, Blake Howell, sisters, Christene Hollingsworth, Betty Tucker and Nelda Walters, brothers, Roy Howell and Ronald Howell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles White Howell and Exie Catherin Hollingsworth Howell, and a brother, Junior Howell.

The funeral service for Mr. Howell will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from the White’s Chapel Church or Christ with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. Larry Alexander will be the officiating minister. The visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. (service time) at the church. Martha Mae Haney, age 65, of Winfield, passed away Friday, March 6, 2020 at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital in Atlanta, GA.

Mrs. Haney is survived by her husband, Roger Haney, her daughter, Brandy Richardville (Anthony) of Cullman, grandchildren, Jordan Cain, Desire Ponds, Aysha Miller, Addie Miller, Romen Richardville, Casin Richardville, Joediah Richardville, Jerrion Richardville and Revyn Richardville, sisters, Nelda and Loretta, brothers, Johnny and Frankie and a daughter in law, Melinda Miller Cook of Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer McKay and Wanda Lou Miles McKay, a son, Jody Miller and a grandson, Eli Miller.

The funeral service for Mrs. Haney will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Cooper Cemetery. Mr. James A. Fuqua, better known as Jim, age 91, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Fayette Medical Center Long Term Care in Fayette, Alabama. Jim was born March 25, 1928 to James and Margaret Fuqua in Birmingham, Alabama, the oldest of two children.

Jim served in the United States Marine Corps from 1947 to 1951, earning a rank of Sergeant. After active duty he joined the Marine Reserves serving as a drill instructor. He married his beautiful wife of 69 years, Rebecca Bowlin on August 15, 1950 while he was stationed at Marine Corps Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

In 1951, Jim returned to his career as a machinist at Acton Welding Machine Company in Birmingham, Alabama. In 1954, he began working for Continental Gin and moved to Winfield, Alabama in 1960 to assist with a grassroots facility later known as Continental Conveyor. Jim worked at Continental Conveyor for 32 years and retired as Operations Superintendent in 1992.

Jim loved to work on air planes and flying them. His most treasured air plane was a 1941 PT-13 D Stearman that he spent 23 years rebuilding. He enjoyed giving rides in his open cockpit plane. Jim liked to watch his passenger’s face when he did a “loop-to-loop”. Jim served as Civil Air Patrol Commander from 1963 to 1973. Jim was a deacon at Fulton Bridge Baptist Church from 1980 to 2016 and served as a Gideon from 1981 to 1986.

Mr. Fuqua is survived by his wife, Rebecca Bowlin Fuqua, three daughters, Becky Richardson, Diana Reaves (Steve) and Kelley Clements (John), three sons, Jim Jr. (Marla), Rob (Stacy) and Mike (Quanna) Fuqua, ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

The funeral service for Jim will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 6:30p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the West Alabama Memorial Garden. Reverend Mike Stancil will be the officiating minister. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:30p.m. until 6:30 p.m. (service time). Mrs. Pearlie Irene Tidwell Draper, age 100, of the Tidwell Chapel Community, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Sunset Manor Health Care Facility in Guin.

Pearlie was born on April 1, 1919 to Frank Tidwell and Essie Tucker Tidwell and was a member of the Tidwell Chapel Church of Christ. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Blair (John), Dorothy Price and Alice Markham (Chris), her son, Tom Draper, grandchildren, Steve Blair (Anissa), Angie Lowery (Walter), James “Dobber” Nix (Christie), Cindy Kelley (Carlos), Meredith McCraw, Heather Perrigin (Craig), Alicia Mace (Tim), seventeen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren, special niece and nephew, Jimmy and Frances Wyma, and a host of other nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Mrs. Draper was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Draper, parents, Frank Tidwell and Essie Tucker Tidwell, daughters, Linda Burroughs, Maxine McCoy, and a son, James Allen Draper.

The funeral services for Pearlie will be held on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Tidwell Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery.
