Mr. Rodney J. Key, age 52 of Fayette, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020 at his residence.  Service details are incomplete and will be announced by the Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield.  Bowen Funeral Home serving the Key Family.

Mrs. Wilma Dean Whitehead Roby, age 89 of Winfield, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at her residence.  Mrs. Roby was born on June 28, 1930 to Gary and Myrtie Black Whitehead.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother in law, Roy Roby.  Mrs. Roby was a 1949 graduate of Hubbertville High School.  She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Florence Teacher’s College and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Alabama.  Mrs. Roby taught Senior English for 32 years at Hewitt Trussville High School.  She is survived by her husband, James Ray Roby, a brother in law, Rolland Roby, two sisters in law, Mary Roby and Kay Roby, one niece, Deniece Roby Harris, three nephews, Curtis (Kathy) Roby, Dewayne (Lynn) Roby, and Derann Roby, and special friends and caregivers, Pat Taylor and Jeannie Hawkins. Graveside services for Mrs. Roby will be held on Monday, April 6th at 1:00 pm from White’s Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery.  Larry Alexander will be the officiating minister.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Roby family. 

Mr. James Allen Dozier, age 68 of Northport formerly of Hubbertville, lost his battle with cancer and passed peacefully early Saturday morning, April 4, 2020 at his residence.

James was born on April 18, 1951 in Fayette County, Alabama to Verlon Jackson Dozier and Nannie Bea Brazil Dozier. He was the oldest of nine children. James grew up in Hubbertville, Alabama and attended Hubbertville High School. James helped his parents farm in the summer time and would work logging with Larry Hubbert in the winter. He later joined the Army National Guard, received his GED and joined the Army Reserves. He retired from the Army Reserves after 28 years then worked for Sipsey Valley Supply, Inc. in Tuscaloosa. James was a hard worker teaching his children and grandchildren a good work ethic. He could build and fabricate anything. He enjoyed time outdoors, fishing and working in his shop, on cars and trucks to lawn mowers to tractors and lawn tractors. James took up the hobby of lawn tractor pulling with his son, David, his brother, Jacky and five of his grandchildren and started the “Dozier Pull Team”. James enjoyed spending time with his family, his brothers and sisters, children, grandchildren and his friends. He was a humble man that would do anything for anyone no matter who they were.

James is survived by his wife of 25 years, Barbara Dozier of Northport, his son, David Dozier (Shana) and daughter, April Dozier Tidwell (Tony) both of Hubbertville, grandchildren, Evan, Daisy, Ronnie, Miles, Grayson, Michille Chism (Todd), Crystal, great grandchildren, Hunter, Bailey, Lily, Leona, Alexander “Alex”,  sisters, Karen Tucker (Dennis), Janice Kay Owens (Steve), Bobbie McGraw (Bill), brothers, Jacky Dozier (Annette), Jimmy Dale Dozier (Susan), Wayne Dozier, Andy Dozier, and Donald Dozier, brother in laws, Sonny Stringer (Dora) and Edwin Stringer (Connie) and a host of nieces, nephews and other close family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Verlon Jackson Dozier and Nannie Bea Brazil Dozier and his stepdaughter, Lori Whatley.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. from the Hubbertville Church of Christ. Jerry Dozier was the officiating minister. Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Dozier family.

Mrs. Mary Frances Weeks Vice, age 87 of Winfield, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at her residence. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Weeks and Ila Ballard Weeks, her husband, Clinton Vice and her brother, Kenneth Weeks. She is survived by her adopted children, Jacky and Bobbie Harris of Winfield, grandchildren, Kristen Ingram (Steven) and Lane Harris, great grandchildren, Cooper Lane and Jakson Ingram and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and close friends.

A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at the Winfield City Cemetery. Due to circumstances beyond our control, the family and Bowen Funeral Home invite those of you that would like to stop by and sign the registry book for Mrs. Vice to do so during normal business hours at the funeral home.
