Mr. Dale Hardy Housh, age 77 of Winfield passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020 in the UAB Medical Center in Birmingham.

Dale was born on September 2, 1943 to Aaron and Pearl Housh. He was a member and Elder of East Winfield Church of Christ and a 1962 graduate of Hubbertville High School. Mr. Housh was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the United States Air Force from 1963 until 1967. Dale was a member and Past President of the Kiwanis Club for over 30 years. Dale always enjoyed helping out in all area communities; for the past 17 years he served as “Santa’s Helper” in the Fayette Christmas parade. Dale retired from Verizon after 32 years of service with the many local telephone companies, the last 19 years with Carver Doors. He loved watching his grandsons participate in their many sporting events, he enjoyed fishing, Alabama football, traveling, and most of all he loved the Lord. Dale was loved by all that met him, he always gave the best bear hugs and always had a smile, he never left you without saying “I Love You”.

Mr. Housh was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron Housh and Pearl Killingsworth Housh. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Housh, his daughter, Marla Kizzire (George), grandsons, Joey Seals, Bryant Johnson, Drake Johnson, Rusty Kizzire, Hunter Kizzire and Samuel Kizzire, his brother Kenny Housh (Judy) and a nephew Kenny Russell Housh, and other relatives, church family and friends.

The funeral service for Dale will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, November 9th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. Bowen Funeral Home serving the Housh family.

Jimmy Lowell Burleson

June 15th 1937- October 10th 2020

Winfield is mourning the loss of one of its leading citizens. Mr. Jimmy Lowell Burleson, age 83, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, October 10th, 2020. Jimmy was respected and deeply loved by his family and he led a life dedicated to his Savior, his family, and his community.

Jimmy was born on June 15th, 1937 in Winfield, son of Erin Couch Burleson and James Dalton “Shorty” Burleson. He graduated from Winfield High School in 1955 where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. After graduating from Florence State College with a degree in Business Administration in 1960, he joined his parents at Burleson Motors. He soon proved to be an adept businessman and salesman. As owner of Burleson Motors, he successfully added franchises to the business, including GMC, Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge, Ford, and Mercury. On several occasions, he was honored with national sales awards.

Jimmy felt a responsibility, which he enjoyed, to actively support the community. He served on the board of directors at State Bank and Trust since 1982, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Park and Recreation board, the Alabama National Guard, and he was inducted into the Marion County Sports Hall of Fame among several other roles. He was an active member of Winfield First Baptist Church. Jimmy decided to sell Burleson Motors in 2000; leaving the automotive business after over 40 years. He remained active playing golf, maintaining several rental properties, and enjoying life with his family and friends.

Jimmy was a quiet person by nature, but his actions spoke volumes. When he spoke, it was worth listening to. He was a fervent protector and supporter of his family and friends. Marilyn, his wife of 61 years was the love of his life.  His greatest accomplishment was his family and the love and pride he had for his children, grandkids, and great grandkids who all called him “Daddy Jim”. Whenever the family was in need, he was there to fill in the gaps and provide. He loved sports and was an active supporter of the University of Alabama and the Winfield Pirates. His sweet and kind demeanor was evident to all and helped him live life to the fullest.

He was preceded in death by his parents J.D. “Shorty” Burleson and Erin Couch Burleson and sister-in-law, Martha Branyon. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Branyon Burleson; children Teresa (Tim) Morrison and Tom (Cindy) Burleson; five grandchildren Haley (Nigel) Guntharp, Curt Howell, Hannah Howell, Thomas Burleson and Jessica (Thomas) Whatley; and three great grandchildren Isabella Penney, Burleson (Bo) Guntharp, and Berkley Guntharp.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 14th at 2:00 PM, at the Winfield First Baptist Church. The visitation will be held from 12:00 until 2:00 PM before the service at Winfield First Baptist Church. Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield, directing. Mr. William Edison Youngblood better known as Bunk, age 87 of the Sand Springs Community passed away, Friday, November 6, 2020 in the Sunset Manor Health Care Facility. Mr. Youngblood was a member of the Whites Springs United Methodist Church. He was employed with the Fayette County Commission road crew for over 27 years.

Bunk is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Carolyn Hawkins Youngblood, two sons, Greg Youngblood and Michael Youngblood (Delana), grandchildren, Jacob Youngblood, Jessica Baccus (Devin), Joshua Youngblood, great grandchildren, Oliver, Parker, Hannah and Emma, and a sister in law, Kathy Youngblood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Youngblood and Claire Mayfield Youngblood, a brother, Fred Youngblood, an infant brother, and a daughter in law, Jan Youngblood.

Funeral services for Bunk will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the White Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home. Mrs. Mary Sue Bowen Webster, age 85 of Brilliant passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020 at her residence. Mrs. Webster was born in Marion County, Alabama on November 29, 1934 to Jimmie and Cara Bowen.

Mrs. Webster is survived by her husband of almost 69 years, Bob Webster, her two sons, Randy Webster (Dianne) of Brilliant and Mike Webster (Londa) of Brilliant, grandchildren, Joseph Webster (Deah), Stacy Norris (Dewayne), Wesley Webster (Coty), great grandchildren, Oliva, Mariah, Payton, Luke and Levi, her sisters, Gail Burleson (Wayne) and Mildred Wade (Rodger) and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie Bowen and Cara Miles Bowen, a sister, Martha Bowen and a brother, James Bowen.
