Ms. Jennie V. Pollard age 95 of Brilliant, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at her residence. Ms. Pollard was born on July 13, 1927 in Jefferson, County Alabama to Hubert Clayton and Nettie Mae Watkins Barrow. She was a member of the Kingdom Faith Church and Brilliant Church of God. Ms. Pollard loved spending time with her family, reading her Bible, taking to others about Jesus, listening to preaching, singing and writing songs, cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide, watching Andy Griffith, going to eat at Cracker Barrel and collecting and wearing hats and boggins.
Ms. Pollard is survived by her children, Billy Ray Pollard (Nancy), Terry Pollard (Pam), Doug Pollard (Gail), Ronald “Ronnie” Pollard (Linda) and Jennifer Berryhill (Richard), grandchildren, Douglas Pollard (Katie), Terri Lynn Lacy (Mark), Doretta Smith (Joel), Jeff Clark, Joseph Webster (Deah), April Estes (Chad), Burt Pollard (Angey) Craig Pollard, Jason Pollard (Kelly), Jeremy Pollard (Ashley), Ashley Rhudy (Dewayne), Heather Clark, Heath Sanderson (Amanda), Ryan Sanderson (Savannah), Jennifer Berryhill, Angela Baker, Jonathan Berryhill (Hannah), Chase Morgan, Chance Duckworth, great grandchildren, Brooke Pollard, Haley Hood (Damon), Jay Lacy, Justin Lacy, Anna Brown (Mason), Bradley Pollard (Heatherly), Kayla Allen (Clay), Mason Estes (Nikki), Mackenzie Wakefield (Justin), Maddlyn Pollard, Natalie Pollard, Elizabeth Pollard, Austin Pollard, Jada Campbell, Landon Pollard, Briley Pollard, Molly Rhudy, Jenna Clark, Hadlee Sanderson, Hasten Sanderson, Wiley Hanson, and 19 great-great grandchildren and a host of other church family, relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Ray Pollard, a grandson, Matthew Pollard, a great grandson, Hollin Sanderson, and her sisters, Geraldine Burnett and Norma Jean “Boots” Allen.
Funeral services for Ms. Pollard will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home chapel with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Ronnie Dale Pate, age 70 of Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 after a battle with cancer. Mr. Pate was born on September 17, 1952 in Winfield, Alabama to Joseph and Mary Pate. Ronnie attended Winfield City High School and worked for the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company in Winfield for over 20 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers, racing and doing mechanic work.
Ronnie is survived by his brothers, William Pate, Ricky Pate, Micheal Pate and his wife Theresa, Kenneth Pate and Allen Pate, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Henry Moser and Avery “Joe Joe” Pate and a sister-in-law, Vickie Pate.
Funeral services for Mr. Pate will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Hillcrest Church of Christ Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ida Lou McCaleb age 87 of the Whites Chapel Community, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family. Mrs. McCaleb was born on January 9, 1935 in Fayette County to Wiley and Estelle Dodd Whitehead. Ida Lou was a member of the Whites Chapel Church of Christ and attended Hubbertville High School. She spent much of her life employed as a seamstress and later owned the Singer Sewing Store in Jasper. In her spare time Mrs. McCaleb loved to garden, can and freeze, working sudoku puzzles, babysitting her grandchildren and spending time with her family. She was a talented seamstress often making her own clothes. She loved to sing and was well known for her yodeling. Ida Lou was a devout Christian; she was very involved with her church and community, often speaking at Ladies Day Programs and teaching Sunday School classes.
Mrs. McCaleb is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Johnnie B McCaleb, son, Mark McCaleb (Jennifer), daughters, Cindy Adair (Gary), and June Taylor (Ron), grandchildren, Jeremy Webster (Christi), Holly Benton(Jeremy), Deidra McCaleb, Shaun McCaleb (Ashley), Anthony McCaleb (Lisa), Aaron McCaleb (Candis), Jessica McCaleb, Mason Drummond, Abby Drummond, Caleb Taylor, Brian Adair, and Tammy Adair Ward (Bryan), great grandchildren, MaKayla Nelson (Seth), Lexie Byars (Jordan), Carson, Ramiah, Deanna, Leah, Abby, Haley, Gracie, Peyton, Ethan, Ewan, Jaxsen, Dylan, MacKenzie, and Seth, great-great grandchild, Valer Nelson, sister, Pam Cunningham (Bobby), and a host of nieces, nephews and other family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. McCaleb was preceded in death by her son, Michael McCaleb, great grandson, Marcus McCaleb, great granddaughter, Annie James Drummond, brother, Frankie Whitehead, and sisters, Emma Sue Sexton, Robby Faye Gilbert, Ella Rae Ivy, Rebecca Majeskey, Shirley Edgil, Doris Bedwell, Shelia Cagle, Patricia Pair, and Sharon Whitehead.
Funeral services for Mrs. McCaleb will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. from the Whites Chapel Church of Christ with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. The visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. service time at the church.
