Mr. Roman L. Franks better known as R.L., age 90 of the Twin community, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at his residence. R.L. was a member of the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church. He was born in Nauvoo, AL on March 18, 1931, to Carl and Lillie Franks. Early in life he moved his family to Illinois. He worked for Oscar Meyer Co. in Davenport, Iowa until his retirement. He then returned to Alabama and worked in the coal mining industry until his retirement there.

Mr. Franks was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Weeks Franks, his parents, Carl Franks and Lillie Brandt Franks, sisters, Pauline Franks, Rutha May Stovall and Ruby Lee Maddox, brothers, Leatus Franks and J.W. Franks, a grandson, Jeremy Franks and his in laws, Shirley “Shurd” and Vera Weeks.                    

He is survived by his daughter, Mona Taylor of Rock Island, IL, sons, Robert W. Franks of Twin, Greg Franks (Jody) of East Moline, IL, and Billy Franks (Donna) of Twin, grandchildren, Casey Franks, Stephanie Taylor, Ashley Taylor, Sara Taylor, Greg Franks (Nikki), Leighann Klossing (Jeff), Brandi Seagraves (Chris) and Jennifer Hood (Kody) and 13 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives, church family and friends.

Funeral services for R.L. will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. from the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. The visitation will be on Friday, June 11, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. June Deason Key age 88 of Winfield, passed away peacefully at the Diversicare Nursing Home of Winfield on June 1, 2021.

 June is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, James A. “Jim” Key, daughter, Jamie Fitzpatrick (James), son Jason Key (Tracey), grandson Sam Key, granddaughter Bailey Harris (Brennan) great grandson Sawyer James Harris.

A private family graveside service was held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Memory Gardens in Jasper. Dr. Paul Murphy was the officiating minister.

In lieu of flower the family request that donations be made to Winfield Baptist Church building fund or Big Oak Ranch, 250 Jake Mintz Road Gadsden, AL 35905-9906.

Mr. Perry Gilbert, age 59 of Winfield passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021. Mr. Gilbert was born on October 10, 1961, to Billy Lucas Gilbert and Robbie Faye Whitehead Gilbert.

Mr. Gilbert is survived by his daughter Tasha (Alex) Frizzell of Auburn, two grandchildren, Addyson, and Marcus Frizzell, two brothers, Bill (Mary) Gilbert, and Harold Gilbert, two sisters, Deborah Nix, and Theresa Chaffin, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mr. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Robbie Gilbert, and a brother, Lucas Gilbert.

Funeral services for Mr. Gilbert will be held on Thursday June 3, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with visitation being held from 3:00p.m.- 4:00 p.m. service time. Burial will follow at the Kelley Cemetery in Eldridge 

Mr. James Richard “Richie” Pollock age 56 of Hamilton, passed away on Monday May 31, 2021, at his residence. Mr. Pollock was born on October 4, 1964, in Fayette, Alabama to Ulmer Gene Pollock and Mary Lee Nix Pollock.

Mr. Pollock is survived by his two daughters, Ashley Roland (Brien Sudduth), and Tiffany Pollock (Jacob Mansell) both of Winfield, one grandson, Lee Roland of Winfield, one sister, April Homer of Mississippi, one brother, Earl Pollock, of Hamilton, and his girlfriend, Jen Joseph.

Mr. Pollock was preceded in death by his parents, Ulmer Gene Pollock and Mary Lee Nix, his wife Mechelle Taylor Pollock, two brothers, Edward Pollock, and Jessie Pollock, a grandson, Jalex Mansell, a son in law Cameron Roland, and a half sister, Mary Maxine Pollock.

Visitation for Mr. Pollock will be held on Wednesday June 2, 2021, from 6:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services will be held on Thursday June 3, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home, with burial to follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Winfield.
