Mr. William Leon Johnson, better known as “Wild Bill” age 79 of Winfield, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023 in the Diversicare Health Care Center in Winfield. Mr. Johnson was born on November 30, 1943 in Dayton, Tennessee to John and Vesta Miles. He was employed with several sawmills in the surrounding area for more than 20 years. Mr. Johnson was a man of many talents, he enjoyed playing the guitar, piano and singing. He was a man of faith and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Bill is survived by his wife of 15 years, Tammy Johnson, his children, Richard Leon Johnson (Kay), Teresa Sirles, Angie Sirles, Johnathon William Johnson “JJ”, Tiffany Warren (Daniel), Misty Smith (Joey), Felicia Johnson (David), Melissa Arney (Thomas), Jonathon Leon Johnson, and Jacob Johnson, grandchildren, Natalie, Payton and Brooklyn Wilson, Roper Jones, Isaac and Katelyn Arney, Marus Sirles, Angel, Savannah, and Elisha Smith, and Laken Hughes, Skeeter Kulikowski, Joanna Kulikowski, Kristy Johnson, and Christopher Warner, great grandchildren, Olivia and Paislyn Smith, Jennifer Rustin, Levi, Carson, and McKenzie Kulikowski, Zoie and Ryan Kulikowski, Jaylin, Kambrim, and Kirana Johnson, and Elizabeth and Christopher Jr. Deroun, sisters, Lillie Sipes and Janet Sprinkle (Randy), brothers, Tommy Miles and Timmy Miles, sisters-in-law, Chris Miles and Linda Miles, a special friend and brother-in-law, Wayne Dean and a host of nieces, nephews and other close family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Opal Dean and Brenda Alonzo and her husband Jr., brothers, Larry Johnson, Robert Miles, Leroy Johnson, and Jacky Miles and a brother-in-law, Richard Sipes.

Funeral services for Bill will be held on Thursday, September 7th at 6:00 p.m. from the McGraw Chapel of the Miles Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. services time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Minnie Belle Hall, age 82, of Winfield, also known as “OG” to her grandchildren, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023 in the Northwest Medical Center. Mrs. Hall was born in Marion County, Alabama on July 6, 1941 to Zack Ted and Velma Lee Terrell Everrette. She was a member of the Hodge Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and a graduate of Guin Colored School. Minnie spent much of her life employed with the Winfield Hospital as a dietary cook before her retirement after 28 years of service. In her spare time Minnie enjoyed cooking, sewing, and spending time with loved ones.

Mrs. Hall is survived by her children, Ricky David Hall, Jacqueline Marie Hall, and Wendy Yvette Hall, grandchildren, Nysheka Smith, Andrea Nalls, Zach Hall, Drake Hall, and Adam Hall, great-grandchildren, Finley, Gracelynn, Cayson, Jyra, Jayce, Lenny, Ky, Malaysia, Desmond, Sha’Kera, Chasilyn, Mckensley, Braylon, Jayden and a host of nieces, nephews. Church family and other family and friends.

Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband, John Davis Hall, and her parents, Zack Ted and Velma Lee Everette.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hall were held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial  in the Hodge Chapel Cemetery. The visitation was held on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Brady Leon Brown, age 85, of Winfield passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at his residence. Mr. Brown was born on August 4, 1938 in Selma, Alabama to Andrew and Bertha Moore Brown. He was a member of the Winfield First Baptist Church and a 1957 graduate of Maplesville High School. Mr. Brown served his country in the United States Navy and Coast Guard Reserve where he retired after 20 years of service. Brady came to Winfield in 1990 and was employed in maintenance with Winfield Caraway Hospital until 1994. He then opened Brown’s Woodworking and Antiques where he was owner and operator until 2015 when he became disabled.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 30 years, Judy Brown, daughters, Deidre Tutor (Jon) of Memphis, and Janet Didone of South Carolina, son, Derek Brown of Memphis, numerous grandchildren, sister-in-law, Marian Trull (Steve), nephews, Michael Pendley (Kori Purcell), and Johnny Downs (Beth), special nieces, Angie Langston and Emily Fondren, who were always by his side with support and loving devotion, and a host of other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his sister, Faye Downs, and brother, Leo Brown.

Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Winfield First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery near Bankston. The visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Rosell Gravitt Southern, age 101 of Winfield passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Funeral services for Mrs. Southern will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
