Mr. Jarrad lee Tesney, age 40, of Brilliant passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at his residence. Jarrad was born March 6, 1984 in Georgia to James Tesney and Virginia Skelton. He attended Marion County High School. Jarrad spent much of his life employed with ADM River Boats as an engineer. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and playing video games.
Jarrad is survived by his father, James Tesney (Faye), mother, Virginia Matychowiak (John), brother, Derek Tesney (Amanda), sisters, Courtney Tesney (Emily), Michelle Studdard (Bart), Alisha Clark (Brandon), Delina Lewis (Danny), and Kayla Sisco (Vincent), grandmothers, Vivian McDonald and Mary Matychowiak, nephews, Preston Conniff, Triton Tesney, Brody and Peyton Studdard, and Jacob, Roman, and Eli Rivera, nieces, Melody Swanigan, and Valen Sisco, aunts, Stacey, Deborah, Becky, and Tonya, and a host of other family members.
Jarrad was preceded in death by grandparents, Ralph Skelton, Linda Wimberly-Higgins, and James Odis and Wyllene Tesney, and uncles, Shane Skelton, and Joe and Donald Tesney.
Funeral services for Jarrad will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lila Rae Tomaw, age 74 of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday June 29, 2024 in the North Mississippi Medical Center. Mrs. Tomaw was born in Danville, Illinois on July 25, 1949 to Raymond Clarence and Eleanor Sykes Ollis. Lila spent much of her life caring for others as a private in-home caregiver. In her spare time, she enjoyed working puzzles, watching the Hallmark Channel and Food TV, and spending time with her great granddaughters.
She leaves behind her daughter, Amy Collins, granddaughter, Kayla McCollum (Adam), grandson, Eddie Tidwell, great granddaughters, Montana, Addie, and Katie McCollum, brother, Darrell Ollis, sisters, Tammi Huff and Penny Ollis, and a host of extended family and friends to cherish her memory.
In addition to her parents, Lila was met in heaven by her beloved husband, Jim Tomaw, son, Jimmy Wayne Tomaw, sisters, Mildred Hines and Crystal Rodgers, and brothers, Raymond Jr. and Tracey Ollis.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tomaw will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. James Emerson Norris, age 88, of the Twin area passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at his residence. Mr. Norris was born in Guin, Alabama on February 1, 1936 to Emerson and Annie Dickinson Norris. James was a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. He was employed for much of his life as a crane operator with Alabama Bridge Builders until his retirement. In his spare time James enjoyed farming, hunting, and riding his tractor.
Mr. Norris is survived by his children, Tim Norris (Alicia), and Vicky Kimbrell, grandchildren, Angie Kimbrell, and Eric Norris (Tasha), great grandchildren, Levi, Kathleen, Langston, and Brayden, brothers, Cecil and William Norris, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Norris was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Norris, son, Jimmy Norris, brothers, R.C., Emitt, Ruben, Troy, Larry Dean, and Billy, sister, Velma Johnson, and special friend, Don Adkins.
Funeral services for Mr. Norris will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Liberty Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Edith June Mixon Byrd, age 73, of Hamilton passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 in the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Mrs. Byrd was born in Haleyville, Alabama on September 6, 1950 to Berlon and Wilma Hightower Ballard. She attended the Barnesville Freewill Baptist Church and was a 1968 graduate of Hamilton High School where she served as homecoming queen and cheerleader. After high school she attended Northwest Alabama Technical College where she earned her barber certificate. June worked in the community as a barber until the birth of her children. She then spent the next 17 years as a stay-at-home mom, supporting them in every activity they were involved in. She later rejoined the workforce and was employed in the dental industry and later with Marion County Funeral Home where she worked until her retirement. After retirement June began taking care of her grandchildren who were the love of her life. June was a selfless person and a wonderful mother and Mimi. She was a valued seamstress for the community, and loved to cook, often providing food for the sick and shut in. In her spare time June enjoyed crocheting and doing needlepoint, being outside watching her hummingbirds, and in earlier years spending time taking care of her horses.
Mrs. Byrd is survived by her husband, Eddie Byrd, children, Heath Mixon (Patrick), Stacy Page (Todd), Leah Copeland (Justin), and Lance Byrd and his wife, grandchildren, Madeleine Page, Mackenzie Polson (Brady), Jon Robert Page, Elijah Johnson (Anna Kate), Cohen Johnson, Caroline Copeland, Alex Byrd, and Kayley Byrd, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by her brother, Steve Ballard.
A graveside service for Mrs. Byrd will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from the Barnesville Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery near Hamilton.
