Mrs. Regina Ann Burgess, age 72, of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, October 24,2023 in the Sunset Manor Nursing Facility. Mrs. Burgess was born on October 27, 1950 to Earl and Kathryn McDonald Tidwell. Regina attended Hubbertville High School and later attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she earned her MBA. She was employed for many years with UAB Health Systems until her retirement. In her spare time Regina enjoyed working in her flower beds and spending time with family, especially her grandson ML.
Mrs. Burgess is survived by her daughter, Cassi Whitehead (Tracy), grandson, Matthew “ML” Whitehead, sisters, Ivalene Sprinkle and Imogene Persall (Karl), and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Mrs. Burgess was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services for Mrs. Burgess will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial following Friday morning in the Berea Church of Christ Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home. Brother Russ Hill will be the officiating minister.

Mr. Larry Wayne Hawkins, age 73, of Guin passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 in the Hospice of West Alabama Facility in Tuscaloosa. Larry was one of ten children born to Less and Meryle Berryhill Hawkins on February 26, 1950 in Guin, Alabama. He was a member of New Life Fellowship Church and attended Guin High School. Larry spent much of his life as co-owner and operator of E&L Construction. In his spare time Larry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, deer hunting, riding horses and Harley Davidsons, and eating his daughter’s coconut poke cake.
Mr. Hawkins is survived by his wife, Pamela Vintson Hawkins, daughter, Dana Harbin (Randall), sons, Robert “Chuck” Hawkins and Jassen Tidwell (Ava), grandchildren, Jacob Hawkins, Dylan Harbin (Jessica), Garret Harbin, Lauren Stellato (Brandon), and Carmen Tidwell, great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Hadlee Harbin, siblings, Betty Sims, Carolyn Youngblood, Peggy Whitburn, and Deborah Hawkins, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his grandson, Nicholas Hawkins, and siblings, Robert Hawkins, Billy Hawkins, Roy Gene Hawkins, Katherine Hawkins and Doris Hawkins.
A graveside service for Mr. Hawkins will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. from the Center United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Joan Rae Lawrence, age 80, of Winfield passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 in the Diversicare Nursing Facility. Mrs. Lawrence was born on April 15, 1943 to Ray and Fleeta Frye Millican. She was a 1964 graduate of Hamilton High School. She spent many years employed with Munsingwear and Health-Tex Manufacturing before moving to B&B Quick Stop Deli where she worked until her retirement. In her spare time Joan enjoyed cooking, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Lawrence is survived by her children, Tena Tucker (Steve), Tammy Martin (Jason), Kevin Lawrence and Tonya Gann (Randy), grandchildren, Tessa Tucker, Alex Smith (Nathan), and Tate Lawrence (Haley), great grandchildren, Paisley Lugo, Weston Smith, Gracie Smith, and Layla Lawrence, and a host of other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lawrence was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Wayne Lawrence and sisters, Regina Price and Wanda Millican.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lawrence will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Union Chapel Cemetery The visitation will be on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Ms. Catherine I. Grant, better known as “Kat”, age 95, of Winfield passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023 in the Diversicare Nursing Facility. Ms. Grant was born on July 11, 1928 to George and Alfa Cook Sullins. Kat was a member of the East Winfield Church of Christ. She was employed for many years with Dr. Mann as a dental assistant before her retirement. In her spare time Cat enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, caring for family members, and shopping on Publisher’s Clearing House.
Ms. Grant is survived by her son, Jeff Grant and his wife Gretta of Conroe TX, grandchildren, Christina Arthur (Eric), Jarod Grant, Matthew Grant, Dwayne Melton (Judy), Misty Melton, Leanne Melton, and Steven Melton, a host of great and great-great grandchildren and other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents Ms. Grant was preceded in death by her husband, Leamon Melton, son Billy Joe Melton, granddaughters, Karen Renea McAndrew and Kristy Jo Melton, and siblings, Gene Sullins, Morris Sullins, and Shirley Farris.
Funeral services for Ms. Grant will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Center United Methodist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
