Mrs. Levonnie Shirley Self, age 77 of Brilliant passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Self was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Kirksie Underwood Shirley and a great granddaughter, Hazley Posey. She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years Mr. Jacky Self of Brilliant, her children, Donald (Pam) Self and Tim (Pam) Self both of Brilliant, grandchildren, Darla (John) Roberts, Jeremy (Whitney) Self, Katie Self (Andrew Braden), Tiffany (Colton) Posey, and one great grandson, Jackson Self, a sister, Dorthey (Hoyt) Lindley, a brother, Floyd (Shirley) Shirley. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday August 1, 2017 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Goldmine Cemetery in Brilliant. Mr. Oscar Lewis Matlock, age 89 of Winfield, passed away on Thursday, July 27th at his residence. Mr. Matlock was a WWII Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Matlock, a daughter Suzanne Atkins, brothers, James Matlock, Bill Matlock, Jerry Watkins, and a sister, Ruth Matlock. He is survived by his children, Michele (Jim) Hutchinson, Sheree (Dave) Church, Kenneth Matlock and Larry Scherp, 8 great grandchildren and 9 Great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Betty Matlock and Bertha Nowell, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win. Mr. Fred Vincent Weeks, age 54 of Winfield passed away on Thursday, July 27th 2017. Vince was a 1980 Graduate of Winfield City High School and recently retired after 38 years in the coal mines. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Weeks, and grandparents, Ava Jo and Garfield Whitehead, and J.T. and Hattie Weeks. He is survived by his wife, Keela Nix Weeks of Winfield, his children, Kolby (Hilarie) Weeks of Winfield, and Jarrod (Beth) Weeks of Winfield, his mother, Brenda Whitehead Weeks of Winfield, grandchildren, Kaelyn and Keleigh, a brother, Kip (Chrissy) Weeks of Winfield, and his mother and father in law, Dalton and Suzanne Nix. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 30th from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. Randy Deavors will Officiate. Mr. Major Lee Robinson, age 79 of Ft. Walton Beach Florida, formerly of Winfield, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017 in Ft. Walton Beach. Mr Robinson was a United States Army Veteran and was employed with Centel Telephone Company for over 33 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Eula Pugh Robinson, and a brother, Basil Robison. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen Howton Robinson, daughters, Susan (Todd) Scott of Winfield, and Tina Robinson of Ft. Walton, grandchildren, Brittany McCaleb of Jasper, and Austin Scott of Winfield, great grandchildren, Blakelyn McCaleb and Bryar McCaleb, and 3 brothers, Nathan Robison, James Hilton Robison, and Gary Robison. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 13th from the Bowen Funeral Home chapel with burial to follow in the Fayette Memorial Gardens. Dewayne Smith will be the officaitng minister. The visitation will be from 6:00 p.m unitl 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
