Mr. David Lee Box, age 69, of Guin passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024 in the DCH Medical Center. Mr. Box was born on January 24, 1954 to Paul and Jewel Cannon Box. David attended Winfield City High School and was employed for many years with Hamilton Plastics before his retirement. In his spare time David enjoyed fishing, being outdoors and spending time with his family.

Mr. Box is survived by his children, Tom Durham (Darlene), Dorinda Durham-Eddy (Dusty), Jason Durham, John Durham (Robin), grandchildren, T.C. Durham (Brittany), Gabriel Durham, Taylor Christopher (Austin), Samantha Durham, Tauni Durham-Evans (Hannah), Alivia Durham, Ashlyn O’Mary, Tyler Durham (Oakley), and Zoe Durham, great-grandchildren, Braydon Roberson, Anna Durham, Jordyn Durham, Hazel Christopher, and Beckett Davis, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Box was preceded in death by his wife Jean Durham, and brother Michael Box.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the Griggs Place Cemetery.

Mrs. Susan Spann Burnett, age 64 of Winfield passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Funeral services for Susan will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Winfield First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the church.

Clovis I.J. Whitehead was born October 17, 1932 in Glen Allen, Alabama to William Whitehead and Lela Alice Dozier Whitehead. He was the eighth child and the only son. He married Edna Mae Turner Whitehead March 17, 1950 and they had five children. He was preceded in death by his wife Edna Mae, daughters, Wanda Whitehead Goudeau, Lela Mae Whitehead, Vanessa Whitehead, son Dennis Whitehead and son-in-law Kenneth Trull. Also, seven sisters Verla Cruz, Crystal Strickland, Boots Sanders, Gladys Harbin, Evie Nix, Faye Townley, and Ila Mae Tucker. Survivors are oldest daughter, Pat Trull, Tuscaloosa. Grandchildren Bill Trull (Katie) Charleston, SC, Meredith Trull Green (Chad), Tuscaloosa, AL, Crystal Whitehead Shirey, Minor, AL, Ryan Taylor Whitehead (Eugenia) Falkville, AL, Jayson Thomas Whitehead (Josie) Guin, AL. Eight great-grandchildren Kaley Trull, Elayna Trull Sak (Christian), Carmen Trull Knox (Jim), Ethan Green (Erica), Abby Green Bates (James), Noah Green (Corinne), Isabella Green and Lilah Green. Three great-great grandchildren, Shepherd Kemp Bates, Ezekiel Ken Green and Valley Kate Trull. He was known for his tight fences, green pastures, fat cows and delicious watermelons.

Funeral services for Mr. Whitehead will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win. The visitation will be held on Friday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Ms. Shirley Vaudine Dunavant, age 83, of the Hubbertville Community passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024 in the Walker Rehabilitation Center, Carbon Hill, Alabama. Ms. Dunavant was born in Carbon Hill on October 23, 1940 to William and Carrie Pendley Roberts. She was a member of the Whites Chapel Church of Christ. Shirley was employed as a cafeteria worker with Hubbertville School for 26 years until her retirement. In her spare time Shirley enjoyed traveling, and cooking, she was known by many for her delicious cakes.

Ms. Dunavant is survived by her sons, Danny Dunavant (Loretta), and Allen Dunavant, daughter, Carol Haggard (Steve), grandchildren, Melonie Tinsley (Matt), Daniel Dunavant (Amanda), Jerod Dunavant (Jessie), and Alisha Nix (Shane), great-grandchildren, Leah and Heath Dunavant, Olivia, Nathaniel and Amelia Tinsley, and Silas, Kashton, Kylee, and Maddy Nix.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Dunavant was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Andrew Dunavant, and brothers, William B. Roberts and James A. Roberts.

Funeral services for Ms. Dunavant will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Whites Chapel Church of Christ with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. The visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the church.
