Malcomb Pete Ganey, better known as Pete, passed away on March 26, 2025 while in Hospice Care at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, TN at the age of 68 in the company of his loving family. He was born January 12, 1957 the son of late Charles “Charlie” Edward Ganey and Bonnie Lou Bryant. He was the oldest of two siblings.

Despite leaving his loved ones wanting more, the lord simply had enough of Malcomb “Pyro Pete” Ganey’s nonsense here on earth and decided to call him home. In fact, there wasn’t much choice as Pete had completely worn out his mortal coil, and had failed to answer any of those spam calls about getting an extended warranty.

A native of Winfield, Alabama, Pete started a lifelong love of motorcycles at the age of 13 and later enjoyed riding with the Southern Cruisers group – touring the curvy roads with his “old lady”, Joyce. He and Joyce also shared several other passions including scuba diving, racing, sailing, piloting, camping, karaoke and later fireworks, managing to do all of those things while running a couple of successful businesses together, building a home and raising their family in Winfield.

For accomplishments, Pete was most proud of his two daughters, who he felt had become loving parents, devoted wives, selfless, ambitious and hardworking, saying he couldn’t have two better messengers to extend his memory into the future. He was also proud of his marriage of over 30 years to his devoted wife, Joyce, who managed to go along with most of his crazy notions and put up with the rest.

Pete once said he had been blessed in this lifetime and again, always finding a friend, a dollar, or an opportunity just when he needed it most. He wouldn’t ask for any do-overs, because although he didn’t always think he made the right decisions and wasn’t always successful, he knew it was the experiences and the struggles that made the celebrations of success so sweet.

He leaves behind his wife, Joyce Ann Ganey; his mother, Bonnie Ganey; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Jessica and Steven Boozer of Morton, Mississippi and Angela and Dennis Reeder of Atoka, Tennessee; brother and wife, Tim and Shirl Ganey; sister-in-law and husband, Kim and James Thornton of Atlanta, GA; nephew and wife, Zachary and Amber Ganey; great-nephew, Ruger Ganey; as well as grandsons, Isaac Reeder of Lexington, KY, and Gane Boozer of Morton, MS and one granddaughter, Charlie Analiese Boozer, of Morton, MS.

Funeral services for Pete will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Union Chapel Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
