Mr. Roy Lee Mayfield, age 85 of the Hubbertville community, passed away at his residence. Mr. Mayfield was born in Fayette County Alabama on October 7, 1938 to Leslie and Hassie Tidwell Mayfield. He was a produce farmer for most of his life and ran the local curb market in Winfield for many years. Roy Lee enjoyed his tractors and watching westerns.

Mr. Mayfield is survived by his children, Brenda Corkren (David), Roger Mayfield (Lane), Glen Mayfield (Theresa), Ken Box (Tommie) and Randy Box (Wanda), 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Belle Mayfield, his parents, grandparents, Ed and Martha Mayfield and Rass and Edna Tidwell, and a sister, May Doris McDonald.

A graveside service for Mr. Mayfield will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. from the Whites Springs Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Earl Ray Norris, age 91 of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 in the Sunset Manor Health Care facility in Guin, Alabama. Mr. Norris was born in Fayette County, Alabama on February 28, 1932 to Johnnie and Earline Whitehead Norris. He was a member of Winfield United Methodist Church and a graduate of Winfield High School. After serving for two years in the US Army in Italy, Earl returned to his favorite place in the world and married Frances Porter in 1954. Mr. Norris was employed for many years at Fayette Cotton Mill and then Continental Conveyor before he enjoyed over 25 years of retirement.

The only thing that made him happier than being on his tractor, boat or working in his garden was being with his family and the love of his life, Frances. Theirs was a love story that started the first time he saw her at Bobo School and lasted through 56 years of marriage until she preceded him in death in 2021.

Mr. Norris is survived by his daughters Donna Norris and Cindy Krei (Bill), grandchildren Luke Krei (Margaret) and Carly Apolinario (Caio), great grandchildren Caroline and Carson Krei and Bella and Luca Apolinario, his sister Betty Foster (Bill) and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and close friends.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Sunset Manor and Amedisys Hospice for their dedicated care and compassion.

Funeral services for Mr. Norris will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Musgrove Chapel Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Brian Keith Alexander, age 42, of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. Mr. Alexander was born on May 29, 1981 in Polk County, Florida to Karen June Alexander. Brian attended Montgomery County High School in Mount Vernon, Georgia. He spent much of his life as the owner and operator of Alexander Drywall. In his spare time Brian enjoyed spending time with his family, going to his children’s ballgames, watching Alabama and Georgia Bulldog Football and cooking. He loved to make people smile through food.

Brian is survived by his wife, Julie Alexander, daughter, Remikay Alexander, sons, Johnny Wayne Alexander and Bricen Randolph, mother, Karen June Alexander, brothers, Judson “Bo” Brantley, Johnny “JR” Brantley, and Joey Brantley, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

Brian was preceded in death by his dad, Johnny Brantley Sr.

Mr. Archie Roosevelt Ford, age 87, of Winfield passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 in the Diversicare Nursing Facility. Mr. Ford was born on February 5, 1936 in Sullivan, Tennessee to Jacob and Elizabeth Minton Ford. Archie was a member of the Zion Missionary Baptist Church and a 1956 graduate of Gloucester High School in Virginia. After high school Archie joined the United States Air Force where he served his country for 4 years. After returning home he began working for The Birmingham News where he was regional manager for more than 40 years. In his spare time Archie enjoyed bee keeping, farming, hunting, fishing, and all types of sports.

Mr. Ford is survived by his wife, Frances Ford, sons, Teddy Ford (Patti) and Tobby Ford (Cheryl), daughter, Michele Stanford (Craig), step daughters, Frances Bradley (Everett) and Glenda Striegel, step sons, Bill Allen and Donnie Lawrence, grandchildren, Jonathan Ford, Jennifer Pugh, Trent Ford (Katie), Trevor Ford (Breanna), Ryan Stanford (McKenzi), and Kelsi Plunkett (Brett), great-grandchildren, Madison Ford, Ethan Currie, Landry Pugh, Rhett Plunkett, Kambrie Plunkett and Brinley Stanford, brothers, Darryl and Ward, sister, Patsey, 16 step grandchildren, many step great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Ford was preceded in death by his son Terry Ford, parents, Jacob and Elizabeth Ford, sisters, Neva and Ethel, and brothers, Everett, Stacy, Warren, and Lester.

Funeral services for Mr. Ford will be held on Thursday, November, 2, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
