Mrs. Susan Jeanette Gillion, age 76, of Winfield, passed away at her residence on Sunday May 3, 2026. Mrs. Gillion was born on August 17, 1949, in Boliver, Tennessee to JC and Ruby Purtle Baxter. She attended school until 10th grade but later earned her GED online which she was very proud of. Susan was a member of Goldmine Church of Christ. She spent her career as a seamstress working with Clifford Industry and Isra-Tek Industry. After retirement she enjoyed spending her time thrifting, going out to eat, and watching The Three Stooges on television. She also enjoyed keeping up her home and, most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Gillion is survived by her husband, Charles Gillion; her children, Glenn Gillion, Robert Gillion (Marcia), Gary Gillion (Selina), John Gillion (Christian), and Shelley Williams (Scott); her grandchildren, Cody, Brandon, and Chad Gillion, Ashley Atkinson, Mattea Miles, Elise and Ember Gillion, Gage Thompson, and Garrett and Harper Gillion; 9 great grandchildren; her brother, James Baxter; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Mrs. Gillion was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gillion will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in West Alabama Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dortha J. Cox, age 71, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026. She was born on September 18, 1954 in England, Arkansas to James Edward and Ethel Taylor Collier. Dortha spent much of her early life in Arkansas, where she graduated from Morrilton High School. Later, she moved to South Carolina, where she and her husband made a home for their family and she became a faithful member of North Charleston Church of Christ. She worked for many years as a secretary while raising her children. Later, she began a career with Cesco in accounts payable, where she remained until her retirement. Outside of work Dortha enjoyed searching for treasures at flea markets, and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Cox is survived by her sons, Leslie Cox (Krystal) and Daniel Cox (Nikki); her grandchildren, Jonathan, Logan, Rylee, Raegan, and Wyatt Cox; and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Cox; and her parents.

Mrs. Lisa Weeks Williams, age 67, of Guin, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at her residence. Lisa was born on September 9, 1958, in Guin, Alabama, to the late William Hubert and Martha Lou Pridmore Weeks. She was a lifelong resident of Guin and a member of Guin Methodist Church. Lisa was a 1977 graduate of Marion County High School and furthered her education at Bevill State Community College, where she earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Lisa began her nursing career with Dr. Bates in Hamilton and later was employed in the emergency room at North Mississippi Medical Center. She also devoted time to caring for others at Sunset Manor Nursing Facility as well as Marion County Correctional Facility. Over her 23 years as a nurse, she especially enjoyed her work in the emergency room. Outside of work, Lisa enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved nothing more than watching her grandchildren play sports. She was an avid Alabama fan, and she enjoyed loving and caring for her beloved dogs, Gemma Rose and Tua.

Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband, Scotty Williams; her children, Jason Carr (Nathan), Shelley Bell (Brandon), Holly Adkins (Josh); stepson, Shannon Wood (Kara); grandchildren, Kiptyn Adkins, Kynsley Adkins, Harper Bell, and William Bell; step grandchildren, Stella Wood and Scarlett Wood; siblings, Lorrie Franks (Michael) and Lawanna McCullough (David); 4 nephews and 3 nieces, and a host of other extended relatives.

Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her son, Jared Scott Williams; and her parents.

Funeral services for Mrs. Williams will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Guin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Braxton Edward Canterberry, age 20, of Brilliant, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. Braxton was born in Winfield, Alabama on March 7, 2006. Braxton was the grandson of Edward and Joan Canterberry and the son of the late Brent Canterberry and Brandy Osmer Mitchell. A 2024 graduate of Brilliant High School, he proudly played football and baseball for the Tigers. He was an active member of Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Braxton was employed for a time with TRU Homes in Lynn. In his spare time, Braxton enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Braxton is survived by his mother, Brandy Mitchell; his grandparents, Edward and Joan Canterberry and Michael Osmer; his half-sister, Ariel Mitchell; Kason and John Pool, who were like brothers to him; special family members, Adam and Tish Duckworth and family, Donald and Ashley Harmon and family, and Michael and Jennifer Osmer and family; along with a host of great aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Braxton was preceded in death by his father, Brent Canterberry; his uncle, Trent Canterberry; and his grandparents, Kathy Osmer and Claude and Frances Johnson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. from the Brilliant High School Gymnasium, with burial to follow in Brilliant Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Classes of 2024 and 2026, along with all present and former teachers, coaches, and faculty of Brilliant Schools.
