Mrs. June Holt East, age 91 of Millington, TN, formerly of Winfield, AL, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.
Mrs. East was born in Brilliant, AL on October 10, 1932, to Felix Holt and Sarah Farris Holt. After graduating from Brilliant High School in 1951, she attended secretarial school, then worked as a civilian secretary for the United States Army for several years. June was employed with the city of Winfield as City Clerk from 1985 until she retired in 1995. In 2006, June and her husband Jim moved to Millington, TN to be closer to their grandchildren. Jim and June were members of the Bartlett Woods Church of Christ in Arlington, TN. In her spare time June enjoyed reading, church activities, Ladies Bible class, puzzles and board games, sightseeing, and spending time with her granddaughters.
June is survived by her two daughters, Cherry Williams (Derek) and Cathy Murphy (Harvey), both of Millington, TN. She has four granddaughters, Lesley Williams, Laura Heffington (Hunter), Morgan Murphy, and Mackenzie Murphy, along with nieces, nephews and other family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James East, and her siblings Selvey, Ruby, Bruce, Hurst, and Jack Holt.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service for Mrs. East will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethel Cemetery near Brilliant, AL.
There will also be a Celebration of Life service at Great Oaks Church of Christ in Memphis, TN, on Saturday, October 19, 2024, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and a memorial service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Mr. John Thomas Cross, better known as Tommy or Pops, age 72 of Guin passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.
Mr. Cross was born in Fayette County Alabama on September 10, 1952 to Thomas Perry Cross and Barbara Jean Sims Cross. Thomas was a member of Guin First Freewill Baptist Church and attended Hubbertville High School. Mr. Cross enjoyed riding and working with his horses. Mr. Cross was in the trucking business for over 42 years; he was an owner/driver of his own truck and worked for various other companies throughout the years.
Mr. Cross is survived by his wife, Barbara Anne Smith Cross, daughter, Kerri Cross of Plainfield, IL, grandchildren, Rhiley, Angellina and Ely Aguirre of Plainfield, IL, stepdaughters, Brandy Emberton (Jacob) of Chicago, IL, Beverly Baker of Bloomington, IL, step grandchildren, Gabi Baker and Harmonie McNeil of Bloomington, IL, sister, Paula Fowler of Winfield, AL, brother, George Cross of TN, uncles, Tommy “Red” Sims of Hamilton, AL and Jackie Sims of Winfield, AL. He was preceded by his parents and a brother David Cross.

Mr. Hoyt Wayne McMillan, age 81 of Winfield, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.
Mr. McMillan was born on December 17, 1942, to Francis (Mac) and Kathleen McMillan. Hoyt was a member of First Baptist Church of Winfield. He was a graduate of Winfield High School and attended the University of Alabama. Hoyt was employed with the State of Alabama Board of Registrars for 20 years.
Mr. McMillan is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alice McMillan, daughter, Cecelia Hubbert (Jeff), son-in-law, Tony Robertson, granddaughters, Brooke Allen (Jonathan), Hannah Morris (Ira), Molly Tittle (Brett), Sarah Beth Moore, great-grandchildren, Avery Pipkins, Sydnee Morris, Arlee Morris, Jax Hall, Lily Tittle Lola Kate Walters, Lex Walters, and Lincoln Walters, brothers, James Peoples (Carol) and Robert McMillan (Marilyen) and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Mr. McMillan was preceded in death by daughter, Alicia Robertson, parents, Francis and Kathleen McMillan, and in-laws, G.W. and Nadine Porter.
A celebration of life for Mr. McMillan will be held on Thursday, October 3rd at 6 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Hospice of Northwest Alabama at PO Box 1216 Winfield, AL 35594 in memory of Hoyt.

Mrs. Terry Belle Hallmark, age 88, of Eldridge passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024 in the UAB Medical Center. Mrs. Hallmark was born in Fayette County, Alabama on June 11, 1936 to Claude and Cassie Johnson Dozier. She was a member of the New River Baptist Church and attended Hubbertville High School. Terry Belle worked with various textile plants in the area until her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her flower bed and garden, sewing, and cooking.
Mrs. Hallmark is survived by her children, Debbie Lawrence (Jeff), Chris Hallmark (Janice), Dennis Hallmark (Angie), and Ricky Hallmark (Tonya), grandchildren, Adam Lawrence (LaDawn), Mallory Glover (Cedric), Chad Hallmark (Kellie), Courtney Gage (Gary), Charity Hallmark (Lee), Keshia Tucker (Corey), Nick Hallmark (Ashley), and Raine Hallmark (Stephanie), 20 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Mrs. Hallmark was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Eugene Hallmark, her parents, a grandson, Dustin Hallmark, and brothers, Billy and Ed Dozier.
Funeral service for Mrs. Hallmark will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the New River Baptist church Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Monday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
