Sharon Kay Corkren, age 64 of Brilliant, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024 at her residence. Sharon was born in Haleyville, Alabama on February 29, 1960 to Robert Golden and Dorthy Lee Donaldson Taylor. Sharon attended Brilliant High School, she enjoyed being outdoors, spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her lifelong partner, Dewayne Corkren, her children, Beverly Lane (Michael), Felicia Mercer, Steven Benton, Megan Corkren, Angela Dummar (Adam) and Travis Benton, grandchildren, Whitney Witt (Dustin), Cody Lane, Tamara Lane (Hannah Barnett), Cody Cowens, Johnny Lane (Emily),
Lexis Lane (Gauge Bridges), Jonathon Mercer, Hailee Mercer (Skylur Baker), Abbigayle Mercer, Akira Jackson, Paige Benton, Alana Benton, Addison Benton, Madeleine Adams, Melody Dummar, Katelyn Dummar, Marc Dummar, Brayden Benton,11 great grandchildren, her siblings, Faye Taylor, Johnny Taylor, Pam Benton, Dale Taylor (Amanda) Jimmie Nell Walker (Kenny) and a host of nieces, nephews, her care giver, Dana Cain and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, David Taylor.
Funeral services for Sharon will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home.

Mr. Jerry Glenn Vickery, age 77, of Birmingham formerly of Brilliant passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 In the UAB West Medical Center. Jerry was born in Moore House, Missouri on June 17, 1947 to Orbie and Opa Corkren Vickery. He spent much of his life as a Nursing Assistant with Carraway, UAB, and St. Vincent's Hospitals until his retirement. In his spare time Jerry enjoyed growing flowers, going to yard sales, and traveling.
Mr. Vickery is survived by his brothers, Bill Vickery (Laura Joyce) and Wayne Vickery (Stevie), and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Mr. Vickery was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Annell Dickinson, Lou Dell Estes, Lola Mae Campbell, OJ Vickery, Laverne Vickery, and Linda Gilbert.
Funeral services for Jerry will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Goldmine Church of Christ in Brilliant with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. The visitation will be held on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the church.

Mr. Izahel Moses Byrd, age 74 of Winfield passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 in the Diversicare Health Care Center in Winfield. Mr. Byrd was born in Statesboro, Georgia on July 15, 1950 to Curtis and Blondell Kenty Byrd. Izahel survived in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a “Tunnel Rat”. A graveside service for Mr. Byrd will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 11:00 am from the Winfield City Cemetery.

Ms. Joan Hall, better known as “Jo Ann,” age 75 of Guin passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024 in the Marion Regional Nursing Facility. She was born in Bexar, Mississippi on April 6, 1949 to Choyce and Ledelia White Hall. Jo Ann is survived by her sisters, Barbara Hall, Linda Darnell Evans, and Choyce Fields, nieces and nephews, Crystal Brown, Spencer Brown, Charity Hardison, Marc Hardison (Ashley), and Charlotte Makoyo (Oolo), and a host of cousins and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Cheryl Hall.
Funeral services for Jo Ann will be held on Friday December 13, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Friday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
