Mrs. Mary Evelyn Dodd, better known as Evelyn, age 74, of Glen Allen passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Fayette Medical Center. Evelyn was born on March 7, 1951, in Birmingham, Alabama to John Henry and Doris Canoles McDonald. She grew up in Minor, Alabama, along with her 6 siblings. On June 6, 1970, she married the love of her life, Wayne Dodd, and together they shared 55 years of marriage. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Evelyn poured her heart into her family. She was a faithful member of Glen Allen Church of Christ for many years and lived a life of love and faith. A homemaker in every sense of the word, Evelyn made her house a true home and always enjoyed baking cookies and cakes and sewing. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was deeply devoted to her church family. Her greatest joys in life were her husband, children, and grandchildren. She always kept the home fires burning and was known for her love and quiet strength.

Mrs. Dodd is survived by her husband, Wayne Dodd, her son, Kris Dodd (Trisha), her daughter, Lesli Thomas, her grandchildren, Gracie, Hannah, Audrie, and Allie Dodd, and Sarah and Janie Thomas, great granddaughter, Elizabeth Rose Thomas, brother, Mark McDonald (Janet), sister, Julia Jones (Joe) and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dodd was preceded in death by her sisters, Sharon Johnson, Cathy Adams, and Susan McDonald, and her brother, Lee McDonald.

Funeral services for Evelyn will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Sprinkle Cemetery. The body will lie in state on Monday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. service time. The visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
