Missy Lovett, age 47 of Guin, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025 at Baptist Health - Walker Hospital in Jasper.
Born April 24, 1978. Missy was a beloved wife, mother, mawmaw, daughter, and friend. Missy attended Winfield High School. She was employed by Marion County Schools for many years as a substitute teacher and secretary before assuming the role of Guin’s Assistant Librarian within Marion County High School. Later she went on to obtain her LPN from Bevill State Community College. She was currently caring for patients at her local hospital NMHS-South Marion in Winfield, while actively pursuing her RN.
The greatest joy in Missy’s life though was her family. She loved to cook and host family gatherings. She was the loving wife of Andy Lovett and mother to their three children, Samantha Kimbrough (Hayden), Corey Lovett (Makenzie) and Madeline Lovett. Devoted Mawmaw to Stella Jane Kimbrough, Easton Kimbrough, and Preston Lovett. Beloved daughter of Randy Kimbrell.
Also survived by many other family and friends who she loved greatly. 

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Jonathan Paul Holt, better known as Paul, age 55, received his eternal reward on Sunday, August 17, 2025. Paul was a beloved son, husband, father and friend. He was born on September 13, 1969 in Winfield, Alabama to Adron “Buddy” Holt and Rosemary Bostick Holt. Paul was a Brilliant High School Alumni Class of 1987, after high school he selflessly joined the United States Navy to serve his country. He was known for his incredible talent as a woodworker; Paul has tables all over the world under his company name of Rooster Mountain Furniture. He was a faithful member of Gold Mine Church of Christ and a dedicated employee at 3M for almost three decades. Paul was known for his silly personality, kind spirit and unconditional love. He was a pillar of the community, always willing to help anyone in need. He was a friend to everyone and a light in the dark too many. Paul was a beautiful example of what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus, the impact he had on so many will be evident for generations to come. Paul loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, and Alabama football.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Sheree Holt, sons, Chance Holt (Haleyanna), Pace Holt (Aly), and Carson, grandchildren, Lexton, Jensyn, Trigg, Cross and Anna Rosemary, his father, Adron “Buddy” Holt, aunt, Martha Burleson (Billy Wayne), uncle, Dwight Bostick (Fran), his cousin he though of like a brother, Joseph Burleson (Cynthia), cousins, Andrea Tkac (Stephen) and Abbie Bostick (Jim), a host of nieces, nephews, as well as many other friends and family whom he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his precious mother, Rosemary Holt, an infant brother, John Allen Holt, grandparents, Herald and Vivon Bostick, and Selvie and Brunese Holt.

Funeral services for Paul will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Garden. The body will lie in state from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. service time. The visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Danny Byron Bates, age 75, of Beaverton passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at his residence. Danny was born on April 12, 1950, in Fort Payne, Alabama to Herman and Lois Boozer Bates. He was a 1969 graduate of Rosalee High School in Sand Mountain, Alabama and later attended United Electronics Institute in Birmingham graduating in 1971. Danny dedicated 30 years of his career to Golden Flake, delivering potato chips, and later spent 4 years with Flowers Bakery delivering bread. In his spare time Danny enjoyed fishing, camping, playing the harmonica, and writing songs.

Mr. Bates is survived by his wife, Cheryl Bates, his children, Christina Carter (James), Anthony Bates (Jessica Willingham), and Melissa Brown (Brent), his grandchildren, Seth Carter (Dominique), Ashley Carter (Dylan), Carley Wallace, Zachary Bates (Amanda), Noah Bates (Karley), Mateo Wallace (Valerie), Aaron Bates (Addison), Jonathan Tedford, Jericho Brown, and Lena Brown, great grandchildren, Tanner, Alia, and Devin Keebler, Dakota, and Braxton Bates, Brooklyn Hamilton, Nevaeh and Stormy Wallace, Lillian Allen, Paisley, Thomas, and Marceline Carter, Noah Foster, and Marcy Brown, his brother, John Bates, family friend, Kristina Bates, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Mr. Bates was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ricky Bates.

A time of visitation for Mr. Bates will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Russell D. Hill, age 59, of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 in the DCH Medical Center. Born on February 5, 1966, in Winfield, Alabama, Russ was the only son of David and Martha JoNell Sizemore Hill. He graduated from Winfield City High School in 1984 and went on to live a life of faith and service. Russ was a devoted member of Encounter Church, where he served as pastor for the last 2 years. He had a passion for sharing the Gospel and serving others. He was employed for the past 20 years with Sunset Manor Nursing Facility as the Resident Service Director. Russ had a deep love for God, his family, his church, and the people whose lives crossed his path. Russ could often be found studying his Bible, spending time with his family, cooking, watching Alabama football or a NASCAR race. He also loved collecting and trading guns.

Russ is survived by his wife, Chrissy Hill, his daughters, Kelsey Hill, Macy Merchant (Jesse), and Ally Guin, his grandchildren, Ella Vintson and Ryker Merchant, his father, David Hill and a host of other extended family members and friends.

Russ was preceded in death by his son, Josh Hill and his mother JoNell Hill.

Funeral services for Russ will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
