Mr. Jason Clarence Elliott, Jr., better known to some as “JC or Junior” age 86, of Winfield, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.  J. C. was a United States Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion, Post 100 in Winfield, AL, and a member of the Union Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.  He is retired from Continental Conveyor where he worked as a forklift operator.  He is survived by his wife, Linda Elliott, children, Dewayne Harrison (Sandy), Chris Harrison (BJ), Vicky Parker (Jeff), Lisa Simmons (Michael), Shelly Welch (Joey), grandchildren, Justin and Julie Elliott, that he raised as his own, and a host of other grand and great grandchildren, sisters, Alice McCormick (Gordan), Linda Guy, Cricket Goodwin, brother, Robert Elliott, sisters in law, Joyce Harkins, Joan Harbin and Edith Walker (Bill), brother in law, Alfred Trimm and a host of other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.  Mr. Elliott is preceded in death by his parents, Jason Clarence, Sr, and Flora Mae Vaughn Elliott, son, David Allen Elliott, grandson, Michous Allen Elliott, sister, Mary Elliott Mobley, brothers, Buford Elliott and Roger Elliott, sister in law, Brenda Trimm, brothers in law, Brooks “Tater” Trimm, Milford Trimm, and Ray Trimm.  Funeral services for Mr. Elliott will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win.  Military honors will be presented at the graveside.  Brother Donald Smith will be the officiating minister.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home.  Brother Donald Smith will be the officiating minister.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Elliott family.

JoAnn Tidwell Norris Poindexter, age 71, of Winfield passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham. JoAnn will be forever remembered by her children, Tommy Norris (Sarah), Terri Bozeman (Mickey), Ted Norris (Chandra), and Tonya Poindexter Nichols (Joe). She will be sadly missed by her sister, Linda Jacobs (David), grandchildren, Wally, Tony, Emily, Isaac, Alley, Haley, Hayden, Deason, and Lanson, great grandchildren, Michael, Marcus, William, McKayla, Maci,  Brayden, Connor, Landon, Emma, Kanaan, and Kaylin, nieces and nephews, Douglas, Patty, and Barbie. JoAnn was predeceased by her parents, Claude R. and Hazel E. Johnson Tidwell, sister, Maxine Trimm, and nephews, Brian Jesse Trimm, Michael Jacobs, and Brett Jacobs. A native of Winfield, JoAnn moved to Birmingham to pursue her independence. She returned to Winfield to help care for her ailing mother, Hazel Tidwell, in 1990. JoAnn was an entrepreneur of Jo-Jo’s Lounge and BJ’s Recreation Center and worked at C’est Ci Bon Restaurant, Winston Furniture, Winfield Regional Hospital, and Yampertown Steakhouse. Many will remember her bold and independent spirit, quick wit, smile, and helpfulness as a friend. Memorial services for JoAnn are scheduled for Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home chapel. Mr. Larry O’Neal Beasley, age 69 of Eldridge, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018 at his residence. Larry was a United States Army veteran serving during Vietnam. He was employed with Hyster-Yale in Sulligent and was a deacon at the Kansas Baptist Church in Kansas, AL. Mr. Beasley is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy Beasley, a brother, Wayne Beasley, a sister in law, Helen Dodd (Bo), special niece, Melissa McDonald Key, special great nephew, Ben Key, aunt, Charlene Bush and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Gladys Haney Beasley, a brother, Bobby Beasley and his wife Magdaline Beasley, sisters, Faye Scharf, Bonnie Sue Edgil and her husband Hollis Edgil, and sisters in law, Kim Beasley, aunts, Ruby Beasley Weathers, Charlene Haney Painter, Betty Fay Davis, Waverlyn Beasley, Maxine Haney, and Iona Haney, uncles, Wyman Beasley, Hershel Haney, Adriel Haney, William Weathers, Bill Painter, Walker Harrison, Slim Bush and Clayton Davis. Funeral services for Mr. Beasley will be held on Saturday June 16, 2018 at 12:00 noon from the Kansas Baptist Church. Mr. Herbert Harold West Sr., better known as “Harold’, age 79 of Winfield, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Houston West and Patsy Bonds West. Mr. West was born in Jasper, AL, and has been a lifelong resident of Winfield. He was a 1956 graduate of Winfield City High School, and a 1960 graduate of the University of Alabama. His father started in the gas business as a Gulf Oil Distributor in 1934 and continued to work with Harold until 1985. Harold was first a Gulf Oil Jobber, then with BP, Citgo and Chevron. He served on the Presidential Advisory Board for Citgo for several years. He was also involved with the GOWMA (Gulf Oil Wholesale Marketers Association) for many years, serving as president for three years. Mr. West served on the Alabama Battleship Commission for eight years and was currently serving on the Winfield State Bank and Trust Board of Directors. Harold was a member of Delta Chi fraternity, the Winfield Lions Club and the Winfield Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Wilson West, a son, Herbert Harold West Jr. “Hal”, (Kay) of Birmingham, daughters, Mitzi Carole West, (Forrest Johnston) of Winfield, and Allyson West Sutter (Dan) of Tuscaloosa, grandchildren, Katherine Edwards West, Margaret West Casey (Ryan), Hallie Elizabeth West, William Huston West, and Andrew West Sutter, a brother, William Riley “Bill” West (Linda) of Fairhope, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from the Winfield First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. Brother Earl Freeman will officiate. The visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the church.
