Mr. Mark Carl Atkinson, age 61 of Winfield passed away on March 20, 2022. Mr. Atkinson was born on March 14, 1961 in Guin Alabama to Carl Ray and Dora Atkinson. Mr. Atkinson was a 1979 graduate of Winfield City High School and spent much of his life working in the construction and iron working industry.
He is survived by a son, Jared Mark Atkinson of Winfield, daughter, Brandy Perkins (Matt) of Winfield, mother, Dora Atkinson of Winfield, brother, Phillip Ray Atkinson Sr. of Winfield, grandchildren, Riley and Mason Atkinson, Memory Clark, Kimber Perkins, and Madison Havard, nephews, Phillip Ray Atkinson Jr., Eric Atkinson (Jennifer), Tyler Atkinson, nieces, Lasha Atkinson, and Courtney Atkinson, great nephews, Isaiah Atkinson, Carvin Atkinson, and Lane Atkinson, great nieces, Reese Mosley, Makenna Reeves, and Analiese Mosley.
Mr. Atkinson is preceded in death by his father, Carl Ray Atkinson, brother, Timothy Craig Atkinson, grandparents, James Leslie and Minnie Trimm, and Hollis and Abbie Atkinson.
Funeral services for Mr. Atkinson will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Old Union Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time on Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Deborah Janine Edwards Hilburn, age 58 of Oneonta passed away at her residence.

Deborah was born in Birmingham, AL on January 23, 1964 to Harold J. and Janann Dickinson Edwards. Deborah was a 1983 graduate of Midfield High School and was employed with St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Haskell and Jewell Dickinson. Deborah is survived by her aunt, Sherry Florez (Navor) of Pinson, uncle, James Dickinson (Kim) of TN, and her great uncles, Billy Mobley of Russellville and Frank Mobley of MI.

A graveside service for Mrs. Hilburn will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from the Wates, Dickinson Community Cemetery. Dr. Larry Wates will be the officiating minister. Bowen Funeral Home serving the Hilburn family.

Miss. Betty Jean Miles, age 85 of Winfield passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022, in the Diversicare Health Care Center in Winfield. Betty was born in Marion County, AL on April 23, 1936, to Melton and Belvie Prescott Miles. She was a long-time member of the Gum Springs Baptist Church and a graduate of Brilliant High School. Betty worked for Munsingwear in Guin, AL until her retirement.
Miss Miles is survived by a cousin, Robert Prescott, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, R. L. Miles, and her sisters, Christine Ward, Geraldine Miles, Ivilene Shipe and Willodean Gilley.
A graveside service for Betty will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. from the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win. Brother Fred Baccus will be the officiating minister. Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Miles family.

Mrs. Mary Evelyn McDonald Markham, age 76 of Tuscaloosa formerly of Guin passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022. Mrs. Markham was born on June 16, 1945 to Andrew Jackson “Jack” McDonald and Essie Mae Guin McDonald. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Sammie Lee Roberts, Eloise Norris, Sudie Trull, Ruby May, Kathleen Garrison, Julia Faye Greenlee, and Jettie Gail Whitley, her brothers, Clarence, Shaffer, Louie, Wallace, and Charles McDonald. Mrs. Markham is survived by her husband of 58 years, Wilburn Markham, her daughters, Tonya (Chad) Barker of Arley, AL, and Crystal Bellamy of Norfolk, VA, her grandchildren, Dylan and Haley Grace Barker of Tuscaloosa, and Jackson Bellamy of Norfolk, VA, her brother, James “Jimmy” McDonald (Jean) of Fulton, MS, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, dear family and many friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Markham will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2022 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Malloy/McDonald family cemetery near Wayside. The visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. (service time) on Monday at the funeral home.
