Mr. Harold Edward Luallen, age 94, of Winfield passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023. Mr. Luallen was born on November 17, 1928 in Eldridge, Alabama to Claude W. and Ethel Rutledge Luallen. He was a 1937 graduate of Hubbertville High School. Mr. Luallen served in the United States Navy for 22 years. He served and fought for his country during in the Korean War and earned the rank of YNC (E7). During his Naval tenure, Mr. Luallen served on many stations and vessels, some of which include: NTC of San Diego, CA, Staff Commander of Fleet Air Wing One and Naval Barracks in Agana, Guam, the Naval Recruiting Station in St. Louis, MO, the Naval Station in Washington D.C., the USS Pandemus (ARL-18), Staff Commander for Naval Forces in the Philippines, Staff Commander of Naval Forces in Far East, Staff Commander for Carrier Division Five, Staff Commander for Mine Forces in Atlantic Fleet, and Staff Commander for Mine Division Eighty-Two and Division Four. YNC Luallen earned many medals and awards during his career; he received the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal with 2 stars, United Nations Service Medal, and the National defense Service Medal. Chief Yeoman Luallen served as a member of the Logistics Directorate, Joint Staff, Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and received the Meritorious Service Medal while serving there, he also served in The Pentagon for two years, as a JAG clerk and a Closed Microphone Court Reporter for the Navy.

Mr. Luallen is survived by his sisters, Shirley Aldridge and Rebecca Harrison (Larry), stepdaughter, Paulette Strickland (Willie), special niece, Debbie Pridmore (Mike) and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Brouder Luallen, sisters, Carrie Lou Luallen, Leslie Luallen, Claudell Duke, stepchildren, Paul Brouder, Rolland Brouder and Joyce Brouder. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Irene Eads, age 88, of North Charleston, South Carolina, formerly of the Hubbertville Community in Alabama, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 at her residence. Mrs. Eads was born November 4, 1934 in Fayette County, AL to Hollie and Ludie McCollum Whitehead. Irene was a graduate of Hubbertville High School and a member of the North Charleston Church of Christ in South Carolina. Mrs. Eads loved to travel. Her husband Harold Eads, being in the military allowed them to move all over the world. Irene spent much of her life as a homemaker taking care of her husband and daughters, but also found time to work in the Education Center of several Air Force installations assisting Airmen who were pursuing higher education. After her husband’s retirement from the Service, she worked in real estate alongside him. In her spare time, she was very active in her church community and loved to play golf, bird watch, and work in her flower beds.

Mrs. Eads is survived by her husband of 72 years, Harold Eads, daughters, Debrah McDonald, and Cynthia Currence, grandchildren, Jeremy McDonald (Nicole), Jennifer McDonald, Kathryn Currence, and Anna O’Neal (Adam), great grandchildren, Madisyn Moshier, Rachel McDonald, Shelby Cross, and Solei Currence, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Mrs. Eads was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Charlene “Cricket” Hollingsworth and Nadean Howell.

A private family service for Mrs. Eads will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2023 with burial to follow in the Whites Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery.

Mrs. Sharon Paige McDonald Herren, age 80 of Richmond, Kentucky formerly of the Whites Chapel Community, passed away Tuesday, February, 14, 2023 at Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, KY.
Sharon was born on October 12, 1942 in Carbon Hill, Alabama to the late Bernice Jane Baker and Hollie McDonald. Mrs. Herren was a homemaker who enjoyed golf, quilting and cooking. A loving grandmother and great-grandmother, Sharon was also a member of the Church of Christ.
Sharon is survived by her husband of nearly 66 years, Gerald Herren; a son, Gregory Herren of New Orleans, LA; a daughter, Rhonda Mathis (John) of Richmond, KY; a brother, Danny McDonald; grandchildren, Cara Makinen (Bryan), Luke Mathis (Sarah), Emily Alexander (Drew) and Andrew Mathis (Keeley) along with eleven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Grant McDonald and Rudy McDonald
Funeral services for Mrs. Herren will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Whites Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Wilburn Bryan Markham, age 78 of Guin passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 in the Aliceville Manor Nursing Home. Mr. Markham was born on December 26, 1944 in Marion County, Alabama to Jethro and Etma Williams Markham. Wilburn was a graduate of Marion County High School. Mr. Markham was employed for many years in the textile industry, working with Munsingwear, Health-Tex and Guin Manufacturing as a sewing machine mechanic. After his retirement he operated Outdoor South Hunting and Fishing in Winfield. Mr. Markham enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with his family outdoors, listening to country music and watching Alabama football.
He is survived by his daughters, Tonya Baker and her husband Chad of Arley, AL and Crystal Bellamy of Norfolk, VA, grandchildren, Dylan and Haley Grace Barker of Tuscaloosa, AL and Jackson Bellamy of Norfolk, VA and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Wilburn was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary E. Markham, his parents, and two brother, Bob and Joe Markham
Funeral services for Mr. Markham will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Malloy-McDonald Family Cemetery near Wayside. The visitation will be on Sunday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
