Maxine Hamric Corkren, age 89 of Haleyville, Alabama passed away January 18, 2025. She was the owner of Mac's Fashions, before her retirement, member of South Haleyville Church of Christ. She was a resident at Country Place Senior Living in Winfield.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Haleyville, Alabama. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Noah Moody, Orry Moody speaking and Vance Hutton officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Brilliant, Alabama.
She is survived by her daughters, Paula (Clayton) Benefield and Frankie (Jeff) Sutherland; sisters and brothers, Jean Norris, Jewel Holt, R.L. Hamric, Christine (Elvis) Townley and Luke (Ruby) Hamric, Jr.; grandchildren, David Benefield, Tiffany (Donald) Watts, Orry (Alyson) Moody, Andrew Joshua (Stephanie) Sutherland, Noah (Mattie) Moody and Ashley (Joseph) McBrayer; great grandchildren, Keely Blain, Faith Sutherland, Declyn Moody, Brayden McBrayer, Jed Sutherland, MicKalyn Moody, Connor McBrayer and Blakley Moody due April; a host of nieces, nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Merney Hamric; husband, Horace F. Corkren; daughter, Kathy Corkren; brother, M.L. Hamric; great grandchildren, Bryce and Ryker Moody.

Mr. Billy Wayne Porter, age 44, of Winfield passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025 in the UAB Medical Center. Billy was born on August 28, 1980 to Lloyd Sr. and Lorene Black Porter. Mr. Porter was employed for many years with NTN Bower Corporation, he later owned and operated his own flooring business before moving on to Clayton Supply where he worked until his passing. In his spare time Billy enjoyed fishing, hunting, entertaining and spending time with his family and friends.
Billy is survived by his wife, Donna Porter his children, Devin Wallace (Lily), Austin Wallace (Courtney), Autumn Porter, and Kameron Warren, grandchildren, Blakely Wallace, Marley Wallace, and Waylon Wallace, siblings, Lloyd Porter Jr., Jessie Porter, Rhonda Fullen, and Genia Porter, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents, Glocus and Diane Porter.
Funeral services for Billy will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Old Union Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Monday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Fay Dean Caudle Dodd, age 98, of Brilliant passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 in the Haleyville Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Mrs. Dodd was born in Brilliant, Alabama on September 15, 1926 to Alvin and Mary Francis Ingle Caudle. She was a long-time member of the Bethel Church of Christ in Brilliant. Mrs. Dodd spent her life as a homemaker caring for her husband and children. She enjoyed spending her spare time working on remodeling projects with her husband, doing yardwork, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Dodd is survived by her daughters, Paulette Estes (Larry) and Brenda Beadle (Ricky), her son, Tony Ray Dodd, grandchildren, Scott Estes, Shelly Horton, Sondra Ryel, Carol Frey, and Michael Smith, step grandchildren, Dewayne Beadle and Steven Beadle (April), 15 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dodd was preceded in death by her husband, Ree Dodd, daughter-in-law, Carolyn Dodd, 4 sisters and 1 brother.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dodd will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Bethel Church of Christ Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Carol Jean White Scott, age 78 of Winfield passed away on January 12, 2025 at her residence. Carol was born in Brilliant, Alabama on December 19, 1946 to C. V. and Mary Watley. She attended Winfield Free Will Baptist Church. In her early childhood she grew up on the Gulf of Mexico Coast. After graduating high school, she earned her nursing degree and worked for many years in the medical field and as a wife and mother. After raising her children, she returned to the work force at the 3M Company in Guin, Alabama where she worked until her retirement. After her retirement Carol continued to enjoy her church, family, friends and traveling.
Mrs. Scott is survived by her husband, James Scott, daughters, Donna Gilbert and Deanna White, grandchildren, Dylan Gilbert (Kali), Dalaina Hayes (Zack), Abby and Mason Holloway, great grandchildren, Aurora and Magnolia Gilbert, brothers, Walter Watley (Floy), Richard Watley (Judy) and a sister, Dorothy Royal, her life long and dear friends, Judy, Bettie, Joann and Cindy, nieces, nephews, her church family and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Jason White, a brother, Raymond Watley and son-in-law, David Gilbert.
In lieu of flowers Carol requested that donations be made in her memory to the Domestic Violence Task Force to help end domestic violence at Domestic Violence Task Force PO Box 951 Hamilton, Alabama 35570 in loving memory of Carol Scott.
A memorial service for Carol will be held on Saturday, January 18th at 2:00 p.m. from the Winfield Freewill Baptist Church. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. service time at the church
