Mr. Carl Norman Coleman, age 62 of Brilliant passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025 in the Diversicare Health Care Center in Winfield. A graveside service  was held on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the Brilliant Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Alisha Michelle Franz, age 50, of Guin passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025 at her residence. Alisha was born in Lake City, Florida on August 3, 1974 to Robert A. Franz and Judy Whaley Stricklin. She was a 1992 graduate of Brilliant High School and employed with Sitel of Hamilton for many years. Alisha was known for her free spirit and dependability. She loved riding with the sunroof open and the windows down, she loved to laugh and was always to “go to person” for her family. She also enjoyed going to the beach and spending time with her family.

Alisha is survived by her daughter, Aidan Franz, her son, Deacon Williams, her mother, Judy Stricklin, her father, Robert “Bobby” Franz (Bev), siblings, Delane Stricklin, Karen Markham (Mike), and Kelly Franz-Lucas, Ryan Franz and, niece, Abygail Stricklin, aunt, Sherrie Milam, great aunt, Barbara Davis, great uncle, Ray Bishop, cousins, Laura Foxhall (Randy), Joey Coleman, Sean Gibson, and Dylan Milam (Cody), and a host of other family members and friends.

Alisha was preceded in death by her stepfather, Eddie Stricklin and her grandmother, Betty Freeman.

A memorial service for Alisha will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. The visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Linda Fae Johnson Crews, age 78 of Winfield passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025 in the Walker Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Carbon Hill. Mrs. Crews was born in Bankston, Alabama to Elbert and Vertie Webb Johnson on May 2, 1946. Linda was a member of the Mt. Willing Freewill Baptist Church. She was a hard worker that enjoyed helping others, working in her flowers, gardening and visiting with friends.

Mrs. Crews is survived by her son, David Ray and his wife Tammy of Carbon, Hill, grandchildren, Nathaniel Ray (Ashley) and Courtney Riddick (Michael), 8 great grandchildren, her sister, Mary Ann Sprinkle, nieces, Margaret Holcomb, Sandra Johnson, Phyllis Rodgers, nephews, James and Noah Sprinkle, her church family and host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Walter “G W” Crews, her parents, a brother, Roy Johnson and brother-in-law, James Crews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Crews will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mt. Willing Freewill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. service time.

Mr. Billy Joe Bowling, better known as Joe age 52, of Winfield passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025 at his residence after a long battle with cancer. Joe was born on September 11, 1972 to John C. and Geneva Patton Bowling. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and a 1991 graduate of Winfield City High School. Joe spent much of his life owning and operating his own general contracting business. He was funny, kind, soft-spoken, loving and would help anyone. Joe loved his family and spending time with them outdoors, fishing, playing golfing, and going to the races.

Joe is survived by his wife, Kristen Bowling, his children, Drew Bowling, Dawson Bowling (Stephanie), Dakota Bowling, and Danleigh and Danica Bowling, his grandchildren, Maddie and Tucker Shirley, his sisters, Sheryl Bowling, Fronda Haney (Roger), and Kelly Fenoff (Bob), his brothers, Steve Bowling (Debbie) and Nathan Bowling (Brandy), parents-in-law, Eddie and Faye Walker, sister-in-law, Pamela Smith (Steve), brother-in-law, Rodney Walker (Lisa), and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and close friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, John and Geneva Bowling, brothers, Greg Bowling and Dallas Bowling, and a sister, Mickey Wrapp.

Funeral services for Joe will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
